We are excited to share our little A-frame cabin in the woods! The cabin is quite rustic ( and quite cute). Think of it like glamping -- outhouse, wood burning stove, dirt roads, and beautiful trees and mountains included. ** To keep the cabin affordable, all guests are responsible for cleaning up the cabin at the end of the stay and making it ready for the next guest. There are no cleaners coming in after you. ** The cabin is a 432 square foot A-frame in a small mountain community, which is surrounded by the Jemez National Forest. There are a few places to hike right from the front door, and many, many trailheads within a 20 minute drive. Fenton Lake is a short drive away, and the San Antonio Hot Springs is a 2.5 mile hike, bike, or ski away right out the front door for the confident adventurer. Located 1.5 hours from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, a few miles off of NM-4 between the town of Jemez Springs and the Valles Caldera National Preserve. No outdoor fires in the fire pit are permitted at this time. WATER HAS BEEN SHUT OFF FOR THE SEASON - YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN WATER.

There is no cell service, but WiFi is available near the main house. The connection can sometimes be a bit unstable, so please prepare accordingly. Our property backs up to state land, offering plenty of outdoor access. We also offer guided tours of the nearby ruins for a small fee. The area is well known for its connection to Georgia O’Keeffe and the landscapes that inspired her artwork. Rancho Algo Mas

The property is in the agricultural village of El Guique just north of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, where indigenous settlements have existed for many centuries due to rich soil, proximity to the Rio Grande and Chama rivers. While we are in a rural area, you will be 10 min north of the town of Espanola and 5 min from the Ohkay Owingeh rest stop (with a great El Parasol Norte takeaway restaurant- don't miss their tacos!). It's easy to run to Espanola's Wal-Mart, Lowes or other stores if you forgot anything or need to purchase supplies. In terms of the campsite, our 5 acre property is a narrow agricultural strip that extends from the irrigation acequia (ditch) at the top of the dirt road down into a dense bosque (forest), ending in a path to the Rio Grande. The campsite is in the bosque (forest) a little distance from our house in the privacy of the cottonwoods and elms. At this time we do not have other campsites sharing the space so you will be camping by yourself and have the bathroom to yourself. It is a short walk from the camp to the Rio Grande where you'll find stairs to the river. The river is wade-able in the late summer but in winter/spring the currents are strong and not advisable for young children or non-swimmers. You and your family are welcome to walk back to our farm to interact with goats, chickens, and our friendly dogs, use the playground, or swing on the large swing by the pond. This property is at its best Summer through mid Fall when all is green, the pond is full and river is calmer. Winter camping is still doable but may include snow, a frozen pond, and leafless trees, as well as visiting sandhill cranes. The site is spacious, has a firepit with a cover. We can supply wood if you need it (just text us). In summer we have mosquitos being so close to river so come prepared with some serious sprays or creams- citronella candles and herbal stuff won't be effective here. You will have a lot of privacy in the bosque, and it is relatively quiet from urban noise. But you will be in agricultural country, so you will hear sounds of roosters, horses, goats, peacocks as well as our neighbors doing their thing in the farm land all around you. There can be dogs barking so if any of this noise bothers you at night you will want to bring earplugs.

Within an hour there are ski areas at Taos and Santa Fe during the winter. Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is 17 miles away and has a full spa and restaurant. There are beautiful hiking trails throughout the area and Abiquiu Lake is less than 20 minutes away. The location of the Tiny House is in a quiet, private and beautiful setting. Abiquiu Lake is only 15 minutes away for fun swimming, Ghost Ranch is 20 minutes away and has 3 beautiful hikes. Santa Fe and Taos are 60 minutes away. Learn more about this land: Lush high desert river oasis nestled in a fertile valley in the Carson National Forest right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. Peaceful and private 3 acres right by the river at the edge of a little quaint town called La Madera (145 people, no shops)- just 6 miles to the healing mineral Hot Springs of Ojo Caliente, a place of emergence or rebirth as known to the local Natives. Right by the river, held by a ridge (that makes for amazing sunset hikes), I have a 16ft Yurt Canvas set up with furnishings (desk, couch, wash stand) and a wooden Queen Bed with down bedding. This site can only be reached by foot across the river via stumps- a car can be parked near by.. approx. 50ft. I also have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, has a kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a monastic and very grounding Ensuite Bedroom, or a simple campsite if you want to bring your own camper or tent. All facilities have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house. I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils. +++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce. The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August only. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and a repellent work great. Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away. *No cell service in the greater area. WiFi reaches around the house/deck and allows for WiFi Calling: that’s a setting in your phone that enables phone calls & texts beside usual internet access.

Riverside camping with beautiful views.. Tent camp directly on the riverbank below for a private paradise. Car camping up top can get noisy depending on Hwy traffic. This spot is magical for swimming, fishing and watching wildlife. Catch and release fishing only please. 110v and 50amp 240v plugin are available. There is a drinking water spigot as well as a trash receptacle on site. There are no bathroom facilities here yet. The parking area will accommodate camper vans and small trailers. Large RV’s aren’t able to fit in our small parking area. If you love the river and enjoy seeing wildlife this spots for you.
