Weekend Trip to Organ Mountain Views

Good simple campsite with nice views of the mountains. Easy to get to, but it is pretty close to the road, so not a ton of privacy. Also, as noted in the description, there are large dump trucks traversing the road (even pretty late at night and early in the morning and even on the weekend). Not a big deal, but just something to be aware of if you are looking for something a little quieter.

This place was beautiful! We loved staying here and were in awe of the mountains.

Excellent area and clean. Very homey and everything that was provided from the bathroom to the showers was well kept. Highly recommend and we will be going back again!

The Gypsy Wagon was a fun set up. It was a nice secluded nook from the rest of the campsite with plenty of space to spread and enjoy. Just beware that the wagon itself is not that spacious. It mostly just fits two for sleeping. The bathrooms were very pleasant, discuss, and clean. I would definitely come back here.

My family and I had a great time camping on Chęf-Üdø’s property. He was very accommodating and personable. The mountain views were an added bonus. You MUST add his cooking options to your trip—it’s absolutely incredible food that we won’t forget. We really appreciate him and highly recommend this Hipcamp!

If you're going within 100 miles of this place, you should detour. OMG. Chef Üdø’s FOOD. He was incredibly nice and helpful and friendly in a way that didn't crowd, the land was quiet with a beautiful night sky, he had potable water that was easy to access, and his composting toilet was the cleanest and least stinky I've experienced in 6 months of lots of different composting toilets, but all of that paled compared to THE FOOD. I had his vegetarian tacos, chocolate cake, and snickerdoodles, and all three were divine. I've never had tacos with the ingredients he used and I'll think about them forever. The chocolate cake had me stopping just short of licking the tin foil. And my partner and I agreed that we should probably not tell either of our moms about the snickerdoodles, as they both have recipes they're proud of for them. Can't recommend a stay here highly enough!

Kevin greeted us upon our arrival. His mother and a friend wanted to meet the campers as well. The camping space was as advertised and we had no issues. Perfect place to spend the night. We learned a lot about life on the reservation which was great insight. Meeting people is one of our favorite things to do while traveling. I think we have a new freind. FYI I usually don’t leave reviews unless something special occurs.

Amazing skies, sunsets, and views! Be prepared to bring your own shade, but otherwise very comfortable for a dry camp. Campsites are nicely spaced.

Very well maintained site next to a small river. We were visites by ducks, deer and turkeys! Flat area with hookups for trailers, several flat areas near the river for tents, and super cute trailers for glamping. Bath house with heated showers and flush toilets. They even set up our fire ring

1 night at White Sands Smokehouse

Chef Udo is a plethora of knowledge with cooking skills to match. He and his family went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and safe. Working while traveling also has an added element so rest assured, Verizon gave me enough bars to download work files without too much delay no matter where on the property you end up setting up. I booked at the last minute which meant no brine chicken but after a chat he came up with several options that would be feasible and it did disappoint! A home cooked meal while driving cross country topped any expectations. After a long day of travel this place, the view, the people and the food have made it one of my all time favorite hip camps. As a single woman traveling I would absolutely recommend for anyone, especially the brave women solo travelers. Do yourself a favor and order some food too.

This was a great camp site. Wonderful bathrooms… great showers… a real treat.

We absolutely LOVED camping Rio! Clay, the other, was incredibly welcoming over the phone, and the campground manager, Lori, was an absolute doll and so accommodating! Your Camp Host, Chef Üdø, is onsite most days and evenings, and has 30 years' experience in the catering and private chef biz, and as a camp host. He's happy to coordinate hot meals for you and your companions! No more need to go into town to get a pizza or some icky fast food! We will make you a homemade pizza, dry-aged steak, brined chicken, buffalo burger, or lasagna...all in-house. Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, low-sodium, and most other dietary restrictions are no problem! We'll bake you a birthday cake, brownies, pie, or even Crème brûlée!
