The Maple Hollow Shelter site is close to a dirt road, very accessible by car or van, yet it offers plenty of privacy. Its sits amid a working Sugarwoods and offers much shade in the summer. There are native ferns growing all around. We have some trails throughout the property, feel free to explore. The shelter is big enough to pitch a tent, hang a hammock, or just sleep under the stars. There is a big firepit and firewood provided. Please no cutting of trees. There is an outhouse on site, but no potable water. There is 5 gallon water jug available for washing and for if the campfire gets out of control. Please carry out all trash. Thanks, hope you enjoy.

Our camp is a private grassy lot on a brook with plenty of privacy surrounded by a forest. We provide a large 6-8 person covered dome tent, one covered food prep table area, electricity, two cooking/ fire pits, a pet enclosure and an outhouse. We have tiki torch fuel and firewood for sale. Max # of guests is 10 total.
We really don't have the space for any pull-behind trailers other than very tiny units and ask that guests be 16 or older as we are on the water.

Toad Hall is a heated, one room, 8x8 cabin in Harrison, Maine, with access to the Bear River for wading and swimming (depending on the river height.) There is a firepit at the cabin, along with one down by the river. Firewood is provided. The lower area by the river is a beautiful place to hang out, pitch hammocks etc... The cabin is near the road, which is great for loading in and loading out, but you will hear/see cars drive by. (Read our reviews, we stand by them!)
There is no running water or bathroom on the property so we ask you bring a camping potty and do not bury human waste. The Bear River, which is a beautiful spot to swim and wade in, runs right through the property- but it's also drinking water and a protected watershed. Again, please make sure you have a camping potty plan.
Cabin Features: There are 2 cots inside, but also feel free to bring your own pads/bedding... Heat is provided via a propane Buddy Heater as needed (smoke/carbon dioxide detector is in the cabin.) There are solar lights inside, along with a USB plug to charge small devices. It is a clean, warm, dry room, with beautiful light and good ventilation with the windows cracked.
Nearby places you will like: We are within walking distance to downtown restaurants and public swimming area on Long Lake. There's also porto potties next to the walkable country store, which has everything you forgot to bring. Also a great ice cream shack, and an above-average watering hole, The Olde Mill Tavern.

Toad Hall was great! Amazing place to stay in the fall/winter. Cozy for 2 people with provided cots & camping chairs! The heater and shelter from the rain was great. Hearing the creek water at night was relaxing. Mike was so nice and communicative! Would definitely stay here again!

I loved this hipcamp! It was a beautiful and spacious setting and nothing beat falling asleep to the sound of the stream next to our site. The site was well equipped with a firepit, picnic table, outhouse (with supplies!) and an extra tent if needed!

Great secluded spot. Felt private even though the road was nearby. The river was great. It was low but still had plenty of current and exploring it was fun. Nice amenities with the option of the tent. Outhouse was small but clean and had no odor.
Only feedback would be that the host did not respond through the hipcamp messaging. I had to call with the number provided after i booked it.

My husband and I had an amazing stay! The land was beautiful and our dog had a blast playing ball! The bugs were not bad when we were there, only got a few bites over 4 days. It was super quiet and secluded, we highly recommend staying at Maple Hollow and we hope to be back soon!

This was a great spot right near the Long Lake public beach, within walking distance. The cabin was very clean and well kept. At the bottom of the small hill site was a second campsite with a teepee and hammock, next to the river. Very relaxing place to be! The only downside is the site is about 20 feet off of the main road, so some traffic noise. There is also a rooster cock-a-doodle-doo very early in the AM that lives next-door. Mike was a great host and we really appreciated all of the wood that was provided!

This was such a nice little private spot for a weekend getaway with my partner. Having the shelter was great and kept us protected from rain and critters. Cal provided firewood, as well as a grate to cook on and some kindling, which was a lifesaver. Being among the sugar maples and seeing all the tubing was cool. We also saw a bunch of fireflies which was pretty magical!

We loved the Toad Hall cabin! My partner, dog and I went stayed for a night in June and it had everything we were looking for. The space was tidy, modern and thoughtful. Harrison is a perfect spot to go get into the outdoors and the cabin is located close enough to walk into town for dinner or ice cream. We will definitely be back again.

White Mountain National Forest
Mere miles from Twin Mountain, White Mountain National Forest comprises over 800,000 acres of rugged terrain. Covered in hardwoods and conifers, White Mountain is a popular destination for hikers and backpackers of all skill levels who want to see the forest’s amazing sights, including the Appalachian Trail. Camping options abound in the forest with several managed campgrounds spread over Androscoggin, Pemigewassett, and Saco Ranger Districts. Find various amenities in each campground, including flush toilets, faucets, and hot showers, along with hookups for RVs.
Umbagog Lake State Park
About 70 miles northwest of Twin Mountain lie the southern shores of Umbagog Lake, home of Umbagog Lake State Park. The park offers a scenic lakeside camping experience with plenty of canoeing, kayaking, and swimming opportunities. At the western shore, Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge provides a unique habitat for diverse wildlife, including moose, waterfowl, and bald eagles. Then, set up at the park’s base campground that has two cabins and 27 campsites with electrical and water hookups, along with 33 remote campsites and four remote cabins around the lake. The base campground is also outfitted with flush and pit toilets, coin-op showers, and a camp store.
Mount Blue State Park
About 90 miles east across the New Hampshire-Maine border lies Mount Blue State Park. The largest state park in Maine, Mount Blue comprises about 8,000 acres with Webb Lake at its center. The park is tucked within the Western Mountains and offers year-round recreation, from guided canoe trips and walks in summer to sledding and cross-country skiing in winter. The park manages its own campground with over 130 campsites equipped with flush toilets, showers, and potable water. The campground has both reservable and first-come, first-served RV campsites with electric and water hookups, as well as a nearby boat launch.

In fall, campers can see the changing foliage, while wintertime campers will enjoy snow activities. February sees a high of 25°F and low of 8°F, with an average 17.44 feet of snow. Although many parks in the area stay open in the offseason, they may have closed facilities and less maintenance.
