We love to pass our free time here in the sunshine and juniper drafts overlooking the Sierras. Some days we watch the electric storms across the valley, other afternoons we picnic and nap while listening to the birds and wind. We love the peace and silence, which feels remarkably remote and only 20 minutes from Reno.

Conveniently 15 minutes from South Reno (40 minutes from North Lake Tahoe), the silence and absolute privacy here are restorative and replenishing. We do not have trash collection services available and we ask all guest to practice a “leave no trace” philosophy.
**Because of extreme fire risk in our area we ask guests to refrain from having campfires for now. As this area is home to beautiful wildlife (and a few other distant homeowners) please visit with an intent to respect the quiet and privacy that makes this area so pleasurable for us all. Camping here is low activity experience as in there is hiking up in the National Forest or just hanging out in your camp site, or bring your camera, notebook and binoculars, or road bike.
When you come to camp here you are on a farm in transition. Girlfarm has been a local food go to for restaurants, farm family members, and regenerative agriculture interests. Today, the farm is looking forward to a new course in agri tourism as we begin planning walking gardens, art installations in the landscape, and interactive classes.

Cute little cabin nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe to get to but also away from the Tahoe chaos.
Host lives on property , but will most likely be out and about most of the day. There are two neighbors but both own 20 acres so you can not see them, feels very private.
The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land.
However it is nice to be so close to highway 20 because it leads to several different destinations. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers )
Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Electric fireplace, all the game boards , cards, chess, fire pit, projector for movies if requested!!!
•Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent on the land if needed.
•Hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, kitchen appliances, coffee (French press, drip, mocha pot). Black stone grill outside. Fire pit , check if fires are allowed during booking
•Separate bathroom with compost toilet or a short walk to outhouse. Outdoor shower in the making, message if available.
FUN: •Lake Spaulding is about 1/4 mile hike down from the property. There is a boat launch and plenty of room to park it on the property if you want to bring a boat. Also have two paddle boards you are welcome to use.

You can drive to Ludlow Hut in summer. In winter, there is no car access—expect a challenging ~5.2-mile approach on skis or snowshoes, with approximately 1,100 ft of elevation gain from the Rubicon–McKinney trailhead area. The traditional winter route follows the summer road along McKinney Creek past Miller Lake toward Richardson Lakes.
Set back from the lake and blended into the snow and trees, the hut can be difficult to spot in winter. Once you arrive, you’ll have a simple, communal base for exploring the surrounding terrain—whether you’re heading out for winter touring and snow travel or summer hiking in the high country.
This is serious mountain terrain. Please use extra caution: surrounding slopes are steep, avalanche hazard can be frequent, and conditions can become dangerous quickly when weather turns.

This site was beautiful and I love the attention to detail - the table, chairs, etc were all such nice touches. The view is absolutely stunning. Keep in mind that the amazing view means that both the drive in and the wind are legit, so make sure you are properly equipped.

It’s a beautiful area with lots of open space. I saw so many quail and other birds. Wendy brought over a fire pit and had wood available. It’s so quiet at night and is a far enough distance from the city to see lots of stars on a clear night.

Very clean campsite with several seating areas. At the top level you have adirondack chairs, a picnic table + couch. On the second level you have another set of adirondack chairs. On the third level, there is a platform you can set your tent on since most of the ground in the site is gravel. The last level is the beach area down by the water, we didn't go this far but I'm sure it's nice and perhaps there also may be seating down there as well. The campsite is exposed, besides the beach area which had a few trees, so make sure to bring an umbrella/shade/awning. There was a consistent breeze which was nice and kept things relatively cool. You have the entire site to yourself so my dog got to explore off-leash, you can hike all the way down to the water but it is pretty steep. The gate and the camera pointed at the gate kept things safe. The small town of Silver Springs is nearby if you need gas, bathroom or want some good diner food make sure to checkout 4 Corners Coffee. Sunrise/sunset was divine!

Staying on Wendy’s beautiful and peaceful property was one of the highlights of my drive across the country. She met me on arrival, welcomed me and escorting me to the Bob Cat site. As it was the very tip of Spring the weather was cool and breezy, the wild flowers were starting to bloom and the birds were busy singing and doing bird things. It was a chorus of nature that changed throughout the day and evening. My dog and I rambled around the property and the adjoining forest looking at plants and rocks and flowers. Sitting at the site in the comfy Adirondack chairs you have a beautiful view of the mountains, pond, and the little valley. The radiant sunsets over the mountains were a great way for me to end the day but if you wanted to stay up and build a fire there were provisions for both wood and gas. Wendy was a consummate host, providing advice for local sights and activities as well as assistance with any camping needs. I cannot recommend her place highly enough. She and her home are splendid!

Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved our time at the Harris Family Farm this Easter weekend! We stayed for one night but wished we could’ve stayed longer. The weather was perfect and we had the site to ourselves which was awesome, and beautiful! The dogwood trees are in bloom this time of year and they were so pretty to be surrounded by at the site. The porta potty’s were super close walking distance to the site and they were very clean! Jane is so sweet and her family were so kind and helpful! We also loved meeting their adorable pets, especially Noodle the orange cat, he was so sweet! The farm is so homey and lovely with the orchards and the bake shop. They have so many fun activities to do depending on the season! We definitely will be back during the fall for apple picking season! Highly recommend!! If you want some more private camping I suggest sites #5 and #4 as they are across the street from the farm, walking distance!

Jane’s spot was cool! I camped in the apple orchard in sight of her house which, as a solo camper, made me feel safe — there were some picnic tables and a firepit which I didn't use, a clean port-a-potty and a sink. All in all, a peaceful quiet spot. The first night I was the only one there — the second night there was another couple camping in the same orchard, but there was plenty of space for all.

She is a SUPER host, a native from Reno that provided insights in places to discover. Also very generous- set us up with fire wood and then delivered fresh eggs in the morning. We will be back!!!

We took our 22 ft. trailer to this site for one night. The host gave us great directions. Trust the directions, you will not be sorry. The site is beautiful, peaceful, and calm. A great place to relax. The chairs provided were clean, and a nice touch of whimsy in a gorgeous Sierra setting.
We did not hike down to the lake, we stayed at the top and enjoyed the amazing views. Do not miss sunset, it just keeps giving.
It was windy, but if you know this area you know the wind can blow and that is part of the charm.
