Our forested camp sites are located one mile from Lake Davis and ten minutes driving from the town of Portola. The Lakes Basin is a half hour away. Mountain biking and hiking trails are all around Lake Davis and the Lakes Basin. Lake Davis is famous for fishing and burd watching. We have dispersed camping throughout two acres with a nice and clean bathroom, plenty of parking and easy access to our sites from Grizzly road. We have a seasonal creek running through the property. We greatly enjoyed our stay at Campsite #1! Our host Kelley was very responsive and welcoming. She greeted us when we arrived to show us around the campsite, which included access to a bathroom, sink and shower (all very clean). We brought our dog and he loved sniffing around and exploring. Make sure to arrive in a car that can handle driving on an unpaved road for ~2 miles!
As far as activities nearby, there are tons of beautiful lakes to explore. We drove to Fuller Lake and also walked around the Sierra Discovery Trail (nice flat loop, about 15 minutes). We tried going to Emerald Pools but it was a a bit too crowded for us to bring our dog.

I can’t say enough good things about Kelley! We forgot our tent and our grill wasn’t working… Kelley to the rescue! She let us rent a camping stove/pans and a tent last minute. She checked in on us but we had a lot of privacy. Other guests were respectful and there were no issues with neighbors being loud. Really wonderful amenities- her bathrooms and outdoor shower and sauna options are great. We loved our stay here- the property was stunning and so close to emerald pools. Be sure to bring bug spray or a thermocell! We will be back!!!

kelley's campground was amazing! instructions made it easy to get there and she was so helpful upon arrival. she let us use a thermacell to ward off mosquitoes and i was very impressed with how it worked. we felt safe and cozy while still feeling secluded. will definitely be back to stay in the cabin or airstream sometime!

Outstanding host and campsite. Super easy to find a few miles off 80. Great description of Kelley’s land and direction. We stayed at site3 which is next to the “house”. Big enough for our Sprinter van and bike rack (about 23 feet). Kelley is the perfect blend of helpful and non intrusive. There are 2 ports potties- one inside a building with a sink and one outside in a potty tent( nicer then it sounds lol!) the camp is all solar Powered. We plugged into the system for about an hour (just ask 1st) to run our van battery back to 100 percent. There was water as well but we didn’t need it . Outdoor shower. Outdoor sink for washing dishes. She brought us a thermocell for mosquitos which was really helpful! Pay the $60 to use the sauna. What a treat! It’s heated with firewood and has a cold plunge bucket outside. Big enough for 2-3. She even brought us towels for sauna. We hiked along the bear river which is beautiful and there was an official hiking trail where the road connects with Hwy 20. So peaceful and lovely ! Adorable eve lights that illuminate paths around camp. There are some swinging Adirondack chairs too. We would absolutely stay here again. It took us about 30 minutes to Truckee and one hour to Tahoe city /sunnyside area.
Dog was very welcomed and loved it too. Things to note: it is 2 miles down a dirt road . Bring what you need or rent from Kelley. There were some very cute tent/car camping spaces on site as well. Highly recommend this gem

The Model Farm was an oasis in the desert. I’m from the East Coast and it was refreshing to camp on the pond and hear such vibrant birdlife after several weeks on the road. The site is just outside of town so it’s a convenient location to resupply if you’re on a longer trip!

We loved camping here! Kelley was amazing and always available to answer questions or give recommendations for nearby lakes etc. The campsite is beautiful, clean and quiet. Bathrooms are nice and clean, there’s even a hot shower! There were some mosquitoes but Kelley provided us with a thermacell which helped a lot. We hope to come again someday!
