4 nights at Valley View Camp

Visiting family and staying at Valley View was a perfect vacation. Valley View was in the hills with ………that’s right, a great view of the Valley. BLM land was accessible in many spots within a mile. I saw 4 wild horses in the brush about 1/2 mile from Valley View. I was met by Christa who I contacted to let her know I was lost. She came right out to the road and waved me down. Very responsive. She helped me back in and Mark came out to give me Internet info and make sure that I had no problems hooking up my trailer. It was very quiet. It was clean. I slept good. I brought my dog and I was told to feel free to tie him up under the shade tree. The RV site was not level but not a problem., Just bring your blocks. Valley View is as described on HIPCAMP. I have already recommended it to other family members as a perfect place to stay when visiting Carson City. You will love it here if you don’t want to be in the midst of an RV park.

Leo was a splendid host. He welcomed us upon arrival and offerend to drive us to Freemore. Very clean and big spot, just 20 minutes away from Downtown Las Vegas. We also loved Mackenzie the dog!

This is an amazing location, 10 minutes from the entrance of Great Basin National Park. The host had great instructions and the hookups were very welcome in a remote area. After reading negative reviews of a nearby RV park, we decided to stay here. It was very quiet and easy to back into the site and fill up on gas on the way out. We didn't utilize the showers, but our one use of the bathroom found them clean and well-stocked. I would say the cons are that the sites were full of weeds and and infested with ants - we couldn't eat outside (although it was almost too hot to do so anyway) because they were everywhere. The lights from the gas station at night interfered with visibility of the night sky. We can tell the host is really trying to build it up into a nice park and you can't beat the location and price. We would definitely stay here again because we like the hookups! If we didn't need or want electricity, etc., we'd probably work harder to find a site in the national park.

I almost don't want anyone else to know about this gem. Mr. Leo was very hospitable and accommodating. We made the reservation last minute and though it was already almost bedtime, he made the effort to greet us. We love the secluded area, the quietness and cleanliness of the place. I wish we booked all the way until the end of our trip but unfortunately the days were already booked. Hopefully the next time we come out we'll be able to stay again.

I couldn’t have asked for a better RV spot! From the moment I arrived, everything was smooth and easy. The site was clean, level, and well-maintained, with full hookups that worked flawlessly. The area was peaceful and quiet at night, but still close enough to everything I needed. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming—super helpful and easy to communicate with. You can tell they really care about making your stay great. I felt safe, relaxed, and right at home. Whether you’re just passing through or staying a while, I 100% recommend this spot. I’ll definitely be back!

Overall a great experience! Sites and bathrooms are well maintained. Very close to Great Basin NP. RV site # 5 has a bit of a slope to it toward the end of the site but thankfully had some levels blocks to mitigate that. The only downside was there was no dumpster. We had a short two night stay so no big deal but for those staying longer, that could pose a problem.

Leo’s space is in a very nice, safe and peaceful neighborhood. All of the hookups worked great. Parking and backing our 32’ Motorhome in was easy. We didn’t get a chance to hangout outside because of the extreme heat this time of year, but it will be great when the weather is cooler. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the Las Vegas area.

14 nights at Valley View Camp

Excellent site with hosts to match! Stayed for two weeks in a 28 foot Class A with a toad. It's a one-pad spot with good water pressure and reliable power (30a only.) Driving to it seems like you're in the middle of nowhere but it's really 10-12 minutes away from stores and restaurants, and 5 minutes away from Carson River park and Prison Hill Recreation Area, perfect for daily walks. It's about 30 minutes to get to Lake Tahoe and just a little longer to get to Reno. It might not be ideal for families looking for on-site activities, but as a full-timer who works remotely during the mornings I absolutely loved having a private site. The nights and work hours were nice and quiet with no one blaring their music or wandering through my space, but I was close enough to everything that exploring in the evenings or weekends was nice and easy. Or, some evenings were best spent watching the sunset against the mountains. Christa and Mark were also very friendly and attentive and easily reachable via HipCamp or text from the day before I got there to the time I left. Former full-timers themselves, they know all the trials and tribulations of RV life, and if I had any issues they would have jumped on top of them to fix. Plus they had fantastic recommendations for things to do, especially when it came to hiking in the area. And they were just fun to talk to. I will definitely stay with them again the next time I swing through the area!

Great spot with FHU while visiting Great Basin National Park. 5 miles from park entrance. Ranger led Lehman cave tour was very informative. Janille’s communication prior to and day of was excellent. Small town with good people and good food. Definitely would stay here again and recommend highly.

Quiet, peaceful spot that was perfect for an overnight stop as we passed through. The site was easy to find, with a level concrete pad that made parking a breeze. Beautiful surroundings and very quiet at night. The host was also very responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we’re in the area!

This spot was just as advertised and exactly what we were looking for! Quiet with beautiful views and wildlife! We were just close enough to town that it wasn’t cumbersome to get to our event and it was also just a short drive to hit the Lamoille Canyon scenic byway, which I highly recommend. Will definitely be booking again if I have to stop in the Elko area again.

A Full hook up RV spot in the middle of the desert was just what we needed. The sites were well kept, the laundry room was very clean (only $1.50 a load.) Reservations and payment was very easy. The directions and instructions for the campsite could not have been more clear. We like to this was right across the street from the national park and that you could walk to town. We definitely stay here again if we come through this way.

Weekend Trip to Tarantula Ranch

We stayed in the RV spot close to the house and it was easy to find. It's a beautiful piece of property and they have many amenities. The only thing I would caution is there's no shade in the heat of the summer when you stay in the RV site. We went for walks down the gravel road and found a shady place to relax just a few miles down the road.

Great Basin Desert Camping & RV

This property offers five primitive campsites, situated in a natural, secluded area that was once a pond. Conveniently just south of the only gas station in town, the sites are close to the highway but sit lower in elevation, providing privacy and shielding them from the road. Guests have access to a small building with clean restrooms, showers and one set of coin-operated laundry facilities for added convenience. Campsite #1 is closest to the restrooms, #5 is the furthest. No campfires as our fire danger is very high most of the year. There are water spigots at Site #1, between #2 and #3 and Site #5. The RV spaces are behind the Baker Fuel and RV gas station. All sites are back-in only and have full hook-ups: 30 & 50 amp electricity, sewer and water. There is a public bathroom, shower and laundry facility next to the sites. RV Site 5 is closest to the bathroom and RV Site 1 is furthest away. The Lehman Caves Visitor Center at Great Basin National Park is about 5 miles up the road on Highway 488.

On the property you will find a huge garden out front that you are welcome to pick from. We also have over 50 trees on the property you are welcome to walk around and enjoy. If you find yourself in the duck coop or the chicken coop and find an egg you are welcome to enjoy it. Feel free to enjoy the pool, bbq and outside bathroom which has a shower, and full size washer and dryers. We are a smoke/drug free site please be respectful of this rule and violators will be asked to leave without refund. Because we are a "working hobby farm" you will see some weeds and you may even see a project or two we are working on, feel free to join in but please be understanding that in order for us to improve things it will get little messy and can take time to complete. Nevada's newest state park, Ice Age Fossils State Park, is just a few miles away and offers a glimpse into prehistoric time in the region. If you enjoy ziplining then check out Slotzilla at Fremont Street or on the Las Vegas strip at the LINQ. Our Hipcamp comes equipped with water, electrical service (both 30amp and 50amp), and a sewer connection.
