You will receive messages from us after booking and before your arrival, so please check your Hipcamp inbox. The RV spaces are behind the Baker Fuel and RV gas station. All sites are back-in only and have full hook-ups: 30amp and 50 amp electricity, sewer and water. There is a public bathroom, shower and laundry facility next to the sites. RV Site 5 is closest to the bathroom and RV Site 1 is furthest away. This camping part of the property offers five primitive campsites, situated in a natural, secluded area that was once a pond. Conveniently just south of the only gas station in town and behind the Great Basin Basecamp Airbnb, the sites are close to the highway but sit lower in elevation, providing privacy and shielding them from the road. Guests have access to a small building with clean restrooms, showers and one set of coin-operated laundry facilities for added convenience. Campsite #6 is closest to the restrooms, #10 is the furthest. No campfires as our fire danger is very high most of the year. There are water spigots at Site #6, between #7 and #8 and Site #10. The Lehman Caves Visitor Center at Great Basin National Park is about 5 miles up the road on Highway 488.

Wide open desert with history. In the 1800s the area was prospected for lead and silver. It was also used as farmland decades ago, and now is infamous for it's world class night skies and Area 51 air force installation. Although you can see planes taking off towards the Nellis Bombing Range, or see jetfighter training exercises or even test flights, the US Government still hasn't acknowledged the existence of the facility... that you are not allowed to enter. This is also a UFO hotspot and required visiting for those that believe Earth may have visitors. This land means a lot to a lot of different people. For some, it means peace from city life. For others, it is the perfect setting for reflection on your life. Many find it to be the kind of adventurous or challenging tent camping they've sought. You'd be foolish not to count yourself among those the photographers, amateur astronomers, or souls that enjoy the continental United States' "darkest skies" with the least amount of light pollution in this part of the world. Some simply like camping and getting free air shows. Finally, if you enjoy UFO stories or stories of our men in black, there is an itinerary for you here that nowhere else can provide. This area is on many "independent researchers" must-visit list. If all that weren't enough, there is an indescribable feeling of bedding down for the night in this valley. We really enjoyed our stay. The bathhouse was always stocked and very clean. The laundry room was clean and well priced. The adorandack chairs and picnic table area was a welcome addition. I was concerned about being right on the "main" road but the rv spots are tucked back and we almost never heard any cars or gas station patrons. Would recommend and definitely stay again.

We loved camping at Mom’s RV Spot! The entire site was incredibly clean, well-kept, and spacious. Having a pull-through site and a solid concrete pad made parking and our setup completely effortless. Beautiful fig trees added a wonderful touch of nature and charm to the space. Because the site is tucked away from the main hustle and bustle, it offered incredible peace and quiet. It is also great for families, providing plenty of open space for the kids to run around and play. Our host, Leo was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. He went out of his way to prepare a campfire for us and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better host or a more relaxing getaway, and we will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Great Basin Desert Camping & RV

This was our first Hipcamp experience and we were a bit skeptical about an unmanned campground in a gravel parking lot behind an unmanned gas station that shared the bathhouse with the gas station, a 3-room motel, 5 tent sites, and the general public. But it was awesome. Sites were level, clean, and had excellent views in multiple directions. The bathrooms were very nice, well-maintained and consistently clean. Laundry room prices were reasonable. It was very close to Great Basin National Park. And I got some awesome dark sky shots of the Milky Way plus telescope captures of a galaxy far, far away from the tent camping area and the ridge above it (which also had perfectly positioned Adirondack chairs to observe Wheeler Peak and ponder the wonders of the universe). The sites will only improve as the newly planted trees grow and provide some shade.

Campground was exactly what I needed. Close access to Great Basin NP, utilities, nice clean bathrooms. Host communicated well and was very accommodating! Just a word of warning if you are looking for pure darkness, the gas station lights stay on so the star viewing may be better done from the park. But I would absolutely stay here again.

Small campground with only 5 sites, but well situated to Great Basin NP. Flat sites with a concrete pad for the picnic table and to sit out in chairs. Ants were pretty bad, so bring some spray to keep them at bay. It's a bit noisy as it's the only fuel station in the area. We were disappointed that we didn't get to see the stars like we wanted, as the full moon foiled us one night and clouds the next. The drive up to Mt. Wheeler is a must. The views are awesome. But the campground was fine with 5 spots, there's also 3 small rooms to rent (like a motel). Restroom and showers were also available, although we did not use them.

2 nights at Great Basin Desert Camping & RV

This is a nice little RV campground that is clean, roomy and has all the essentials…power, water, and sewer hookups. Although the majority of the site is gravel, there are nice cement pads and picnic tables at each spot. the bathrooms are clean and well-stocked and there are laundry facilities. This is the perfect place to stay for a trip to Great Basin National Park. Be aware that there is no office, store or pool.

Stayed for 3 nights and our site was great! Clean, level, well maintained. Showers were very clean, and washer and dryer worked wonderfully. 3 minutes to the Great Basin visitor center, and 10 minutes to the Lehman visitor center. We had a perfect stay. Would highly recommend for your trip to Great Basin.

Easy set up, level stone parking lot. It had accommodating laundry, showers, and bathrooms. Very close access to Great Basin National Park. It’s technically the “back yard” of the gas pumps, but that traffic wasn’t an issue. We would stay again when back at that park. Host did reply immediately to a question which was helpful.

The location was very convenient to Great Basin National Park. With the gas station there it was also very useful. The site was clean with a nice new concrete space with a picnic table on it. I would stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Mom's RV Spot

All along, Leo communicated with us promptly and thoroughly, and he remained open to further questions about our stay at Mom's RV Spot. That's a big help when traveling to new places! Leo greeted us as we pulled into the property, which was very reassuring, and he helped us settle into our space. Leo had meticulously groomed the sand to be very attractive, and there were full hook-ups available! After we got settled in, he generously offered us some vegetables and fruits from his gardens. Throughout our stay, we engaged in friendly conversation with Leo. He is a kind man with a great sense of wit and wisdom. The property itself is spacious and well-maintained! There are several different types of trees, shrubs, and flowering plants to enhance the view. The space itself has a large concrete patio and wooden picnic table, plus a well-stocked fire pit to use when appropriate. Another surprising aspect of the property is that it was so quiet! You'd think that it would loud being next to Las Vegas, but that is not the case. Instead, we got to enjoy the occasional sound of nightbirds! The neighborhood is also spacious and quiet, and, just for perspective, we were there on a Friday night! Finally, Leo is consistently working to improve his Hipcamp property.

Weekend Trip to Garden Oasis in the Heart of Vegas

It was very conveniently located for us, as we were returning a rental RV to El Monte RV and they were right down the street. Hookups were great so we could run the A/C, and allowing us to use the toilet and shower helped since we'd already visited the dump station. Owner gave us a friendly tour of the farm; loved the grapes and ducks! We'd stay again if in the area!

This place is great! It's quiet and close to the entrance to Great Basin. The showers are super clean and the sites are well maintained. I know it's at a gas station, but who cares! You don't notice at all because out here all you see are the spectacular views. There's no bad spot here. If you're looking for a place to camp near Great Basin National Park, this is it!
