Peaceful Prairie Campsites consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of third generation steward, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a stunning backdrop to a those seeking a private and peaceful experience, birding, wildlife-spotting, or an adventure-seeking hike.
Rustic Tent sites (allowing cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles, but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie.
The prairie is a fragile environment. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book the RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation.
RV sites 50 amp electricity and a rustic experience on crushed concrete near our corral. You'll have foot access just steps from the prairie.
All sites share access to delicious potable water, a clean porta potty, and a funky outdoor camp shower (with unheated water), as well as private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge to the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument.
A small group of yearling cattle are at home on the prairie in summer months, and may share you the prairie tent area with campers in the months of May and June.
Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies and the soulful communion with the land.
Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. We have a 5 acre suburban campsite that is quiet, yet close to amenities. Located in south Lincoln between Highway 2 and the city limit, near shopping, restaurants, and breweries. Our property has a small seasonal creek with a walking path next to it and through a forested area and meadow. Cottonwood Creek Camp has one RV site and one Tent site. This can be a peaceful place to stay for a quick stop, an extended stay or even during Husker game-day weekends. We are 6 minutes from Southpoint mall which offers a shuttle to Memorial Stadium. Super Target, Aldi's and many other grocery stores are only 5 minutes away. Disc golf and mini golf courses are 2 miles away. There is also access to the Lincoln bike trails via our residential streets. Laundry is available on site for an extra fee.
Easy access off Highway 2 at the 68th/70th Street Exit, continue west via Saltillo Rd. and then north on 56th St.

Just over three hours from Denver, BE Farm is more than a place to spend the night—it’s a full immersion in farm life, nature, and fresh air. Nebraska’s iconic Chimney Rock is just 8 miles south, Scotts Bluff National Monument 25 miles west, and Carhenge 40 miles northeast, making day trips easy. At night, the Milky Way fills the sky—so bright it feels close enough to touch.
The campsite is tucked along Wildhorse Creek, shaded by trees and surrounded by wildlife. Deer, raccoons, and native birds are frequent visitors, and rainbow and brown trout glide through the water (no fishing allowed).
In summer, you may spot Farmer Billy tending crops or setting irrigation at sunrise or sunset—it’s all part of the rhythm of farm life here. During October, it’s Pumpkin Patch season, and campers are welcome to enjoy all the fall vibes BE Farm has to offer.
BE Farm is a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly farm space. All are invited to come as they are and enjoy the farm with respect for one another and the land.
Please note: From mid-September through the end of October, the farm is open to the public on Fridays (4 p.m.–dark), Saturdays (10 a.m.–9 p.m.), and Sundays (10 a.m.–6 p.m.). While other guests will be on the property during these hours, the campsite is set off to the side and designed to remain quiet and undisturbed.

Billy has been farming this land in western Nebraska for over two decades. He’s established two sites on his farm, one of which is situated on the banks of a stream that traverses his land. (I didn’t see the other site.) The stream is wooded such that the site, which is immediately east of the treeline, benefits from afternoon shade. To the east is all wide open farm land. To ensure shade from the morning sun, I parked my truck right next to the east side of my tent and that worked great. The other site, wherever it is, wasn’t occupied when I was there and I felt like I was the only human within a mile and I quite possibly was when Billy went out for the evening. Even so, the farmhouse is perhaps 100 yards to the west of the stream and trees so solitude is more or less guaranteed. Also, Billy worked with me to correct a complication with the booking. (The complication was on my end.) I truly appreciated this accommodation. There are very, very few places to camp in this part of Nebraska and I’d had a long day on the road. Got a good night’s sleep. Also, that evening a young of the year fawn came to visit me and hung around on the periphery of my site for a while. Good company to have.

Weekend Trip to Beckwourth Peak High Camp
Staying in the yurt at Forest’s property just south of Portola was awesome! The yurt was super comfortable, with plenty of space to sleep, lounge, and enjoy meals, drinks, and games. There was coffee, a full fridge/freezer, plenty of pillows and blankets, a radiating space heater, and plenty of natural light.
The property was also really cool - hot showers and clean, roomy bathrooms, easily accessible potable water, and a great campfire ring with plenty of firewood. The night skies during our stay were incredible, and there was very little noise from the town/vehicles.
Portola is a short five minute drive down the hill, and there are plenty of cute restaurants, cafes, and amenities. We can highly recommend the Brewing Lair and Lost Sierra Wine Co that are 20 minutes west in Blairsden!
This cool, quaint, pseudo-remote cabin compound was an absolute gem, and the camp hosts Kayla and Austin were super kind and helpful. My wife and I wanted a quick, quiet little getaway from the city for a couple of days, and we got exactly what we wanted. We will be keeping this Beckwourth Peak High Camp location in our favorites for future stays!

This place is a little off the beaten path but we stayed for like 4 days and loved it. Hosts seemed like great people and were easily able to roll up on some 4 wheelers to ensure we had what we needed. Think we might have seen them everyday given it's a working farm but it still felt like a private location.
It was really nice to also see that they are still in the process of improving the place for future hipcampers, I sadly can't say the same about the current place I'm at in friendship, WI that's for sure, lmao.
If I'm ever in the area I'd happily stay at this location again, just make sure you get what you need prior to arriving as it's a little drive to the nearest town.

Peaceful Prairie lived up to its name and Lisa was a wonderful host. My highlight was hiking over to the Bluff and meditating with the strong wind, prairie birds, and beautiful sky. Bonus that I could hike right from my campsite.

Enjoyed a very peaceful couple of nights at This site. Very convenient for getting into Lincoln but feels as though you’re in the middle of nowhere.
Enjoyed watching the fire flies in the evening too. All in all would happily stay again.
Aaron and Megan have a very nice place to stay. Enjoyed the nature walk too.

This camp is nicely tucked away next to a small river. Lots were level. Saw an eagle, an otter and some small foxes! Relaxing and pretty. Cell reception was great as there aren't big trees in the campground. Trail down to the river is pretty steep and access to the river was uneven but if you can navigate the uneven terrain, it is worth it.

Very quiet and relaxing. Unfortunately it rained. But the owner was great. We had our camper and our big tent. We needed to rent for 2 more days till the tent dried out. He was really helpful with our needs. Very respectful and responsive fast. Hope you give them a try. Only 1 hour drive from Omaha. Nice drive.

Devlin was amazing! He offered us an upgrade and the site was beautiful! Each site had a picnic table and fire pit with a grate to cook on. The bundles of wood were at the entrance and kept out of the rain. It was very quiet and peaceful despite there being several other campers.
