Escape the daily grind and spend a night (or two or more) on our small family-run herb farm, nestled at the base of the foothills of the Mission Mountain Tribal Wilderness on the Flathead Indian Reservation. We’re just a short walk from Mission Reservoir and the expansive Mission Mountains, close to the National Bison Range, two hours from Glacier NP, four hours from Yellowstone NP, one hour north of Missoula, 15 minutes from the Jocko River, 30 minutes from the Flathead River, and 45 minutes south of Flathead Lake. Outdoor recreation activities are fairly limitless in this area.
Please keep in mind that we are 1.5 hours from the change to the Pacific Timezone (on I-90 at the Idaho/MT border).
From our farm, it's 4 miles into St. Ignatius (pop. 839) which hosts a grocery store, thrift store, Napa Auto, hardware store, two bars, post office, medical clinic, two diners, dentist, and more.
Guests are also welcome to peruse our website (www.awesomeherbsmt.com) and purchase some of our farm-grown herbal teas, culinary herbs, and herb salts (select "Pickup" and we'll deliver it to your tent/camper).
We are queer and anti-racist. We require that all people who visit the farm be queer-friendly and anti-racist. Please do not request to stay with us if these values do not align with your own.
We have nine sites available: two large bell tents, one small bell tent, one wall tent, space for four additional tents, and one space available for RVs/campervans. The two larger bell tents are furnished with full beds and bedding, perfect for couples or small families seeking a spacious on-farm retreat. The smaller bell tent has twin cots and bedding, ideal for individuals or children.
Each tent is equipped with solar string lights and fans, a bed w/ bedding, a side table, and a power outlet to charge your devices. Outside of the tents you'll find a cozy communal fire pit outside, perfect for evenings under the starry Montana sky.
To cater to your culinary needs, we offer a communal kitchen area equipped with a table, propane grill, sink, and large counter. Whether you're cooking up a delicious meal with local farm ingredients or simply enjoying a picnic-style lunch, our kitchen area provides a lovely space to cook and eat.
For your comfort, we have a privacy tent that houses a solar shower (not exactly hot!), allowing you to refresh and rejuvenate after a day of outdoor adventures. Additionally, we provide a well-maintained port-potty that is attended to weekly for your convenience.
Here on the farm, we recognize that dogs are important members of the family. Well-behaved and friendly dogs (both to humans and dogs alike) are welcome to join you on your camping trip. However, we kindly request that you take responsibility for your furry friend and any potential damages they may cause during your stay. We have four farm dogs and often our workers have one or two additional dogs, as well. Please check-in in advance to let us know if you’ll be bringing a pet.
We grow herbal tea and culinary herbs on our small farm in St. Ignatius, Montana. We harvest, dry, process, mix, and package in small batches, providing the freshest and highest quality herbal products possible. We follow organic practices by applying compost, cover-cropping, and rotating crops, and we don't use any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.
Our farm is located in Western Montana on the traditional lands of the Selis (Bitterroot Salish), Qlispe (Pend 'dOreille), and Ktunaxa Ksanka (Kootenai) Peoples. A portion of our sales go to the Trans Justice Funding Project.
Campfires are allowed as long as the fire ban is not in effect.
