MTBCity

5 sites · Tents1 acre · Helena, MT
We ONLY host riders of the GDMBR and hikers of the CDT. We love our guests and have been running this micro camp ONLY for human powered travelers for a decade. Before you send us an email asking us if we make exceptions, we don't. Our camp is an amazing place for a subculture of amazing campers. MTBCITY stands out as a unique campground because it was created by mountain bikers, for mountain bikers, in a revitalized area of Helena. We transformed a neglected piece of land into an affordable haven for bike backers & backpackers. Our journey began with the purchase of a modest cabin from Craigslist and a commitment to hard work, allowing us to invest every dollar into building MTBCITY, USA and a place where any bike lover can feel at home. Over the years, we have dedicated ourselves to crafting this campground, which is nestled in a serene hideaway. Our small, family-run operation has seen us drive countless nails, move tons of dirt, and mix ample concrete to turn the former site of Helena Asphalt into a vibrant outdoor retreat. At MTBCITY, you’ll find not only a welcoming atmosphere (if you're a bike packer or backpacker) but also access to nearby natural features, swimming holes, and a variety of outdoor activities. Explore the stunning landscapes, enjoy local restaurants, and discover charming shops and all just a stone's throw away. Join us at MTBCITY, where adventure awaits and every mountain biker can find their perfect escape!

Ekstrom's Stage Station Campground

36 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Clinton, MT
We are located just a two-minute drive off I-90, but in those two minutes, the sounds of cars are replaced by the rustling of ponderosas and the water of Rock Creek that is just a minute's walk from your campsite and home to world-renowned fly fishing. Ekstrom’s Stage Station is a collection of historic log buildings reassembled along Rock Creek that functions as a campground today. The sites are situated in a large grassy meadow surrounded by tall pine trees and are quaint and quiet, comfortably accommodating RVs up to 55′ in length. (Please call ahead regarding availability for larger RVs.) In addition to the happy campground, we have two lovely tiny houses, a pair of rustic cabins, and a hundred-year-old schoolhouse available for your stay. We offer all the essentials for a comfortable camping experience— restrooms, hot showers, Wi-Fi, electric hookups, and laundry available onsite—in a rustic, laid-back environment. Whether you’re just passing through for a night or looking for a peaceful spot to stay for a while, we hope to see you soon!

The Trail Enthusiast's Basecamp!

2 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Helena, MT
This five-acre oasis was once a landscape nursery. So given the close proximity to downtown we are a hidden sanctuary from the outside world, secluded by cottonwood trees and mature foliage. The site now serves as a wedding venue and offers views of Mount Helena to the South and the Sleeping Giant to the North. Learn more about this land: Pitch a tent in our aspen grove or park your camper/RV in the grassland field. You're close to downtown with lots of privacy/scenery. You'll have views of regal Mount Helena to the South and The Sleeping Giant to the North. The South Hill trail complex is a great place to explore as well as the Scratchgravels. The Missouri River is only 20 minutes away as well as Lake Hauser and Canyon Ferry. If new to the area and interested in history, we recommend the Tour Train. We also have several great breweries - our favorites include Ten Mile and Blackfoot Breweries (a perfect stop you can ride to after a trail ride/hike in the South Hills). This site is perfect for those wanting to explore Downtown Helena, it's renowned trail systems, but still sleep under the stars. Pets are allowed. Please make sure you pick up after them. There is water throughout the property that you are welcome to use for cleaning, but it is not potable.

Camping near Lincoln guide

Overview

East of Missoula and northwest of Helena, the community of Lincoln is a good base for exploring the Blackfoot River and the forests and mountains that lie beyond. Its biggest claim to fame is its art park: Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild, which features massive sculptural installations set among expanses of forestland. It's a great place to go for a wander, with plenty to keep kids and adults entertained, without having to stray far from town. For more active adventures, the hiking trails, lakes, and campgrounds of Helena National Forest are just a short jaunt away. The area around Lincoln also has plenty of private camping options, from ranches that welcome tent and RV campers to quiet homesteads with furnished glampsites with bell tents designed to accommodate one party at a time.
