Lakeshore Cabins and Campground (established as Lake Shore Lodge) first opened its gates under the original owners, ES and Helyn Carroll, in 1971. Linn and Kevin Krieg, ranchers in the Madison Valley, bought Lakeshore in 1981, and their family retains ownership today.
In the early days, Lakeshore felt hidden away: a short drive down a dirt road, tucked away in a stand of mature cottonwood trees. Lakeshore soon became a family summer retreat where guests returned year after year. The seclusion and shade of the cottonwood trees, the proximity to Bozeman and Yellowstone National Park, and the extraordinary outdoor sporting opportunities made Lakeshore a perfect getaway—not too far away but far enough to escape and enjoy the beauty of the Madison Valley.
In October 2022, Lakeshore closed for property-wide renovations. It reopened in July 2024 with updated utilities, beautifully appointed cabins, and a new General Store.
We remain the only lakefront RV campground with mature trees, plentiful shade, a private marina, and the finest guest cabins on the lake. Lakeshore Cabins and Campground, as it was in the early days, is a perfect getaway—not too far away but far enough to escape.

Our family built a cabin in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the 1970’s. We’ve been coming out for over 20 years to visit and now are making this our home. One thing about this area that really strikes me is the gorgeous Ear Mountain. It hovers with the rest of the Rocky Mountain Front making a beautiful back drop for the quaint town of Choteau.
We are located 90 miles from St. Mary’s in Glacier park. If you are looking to go to Glacier we are an excellent spot to stay and rest on your journey.
The town of Choteau has several restaurants, gas stations with propane, a drug store and Rex’s grocery. If you feel like walking downtown, you’ll see the historic buildings like the Courthouse built in 1906.

The Mooseshroom is an awesome camping community that is just 7 miles from the west side of Glacier National Park. Community fire pits near the Commons are a short walk from whichever tent spot guests are assigned. The Commons also houses the bathrooms and inside/outside kitchen areas. There is plenty of seating, hammocks and picnic tables for guests to use as well. We also have two yurts available for booking on our property.
The Mooseshroom is a licensed business that is limited to hosting 18 guests per night. Guests should expect a quiet, peaceful camping experience with plenty of room to enjoy their surroundings.
***This property is adjacent Highway 2 and there is a fair amount of road noise. There's also a train that's fairly close. The noise kinda comes with the territory, guests are also 10 minutes from the west entrance to the park. The noise does tend to subside considerably at night, but for those bothered by this type of noise, you might consider an alternate location. Most guests are truly fine with it.

There’s a tent site & they have an RV you can rent A really nice one and they are working on the mobile home; that’s on the property which is used for restroom facilities and what not right now. Beautiful piece of property highly recommend. The host were very nice as well.

Sweet little spot on a working horse not far from town and the main road. I stayed one night passing through and thoroughly enjoyed McKenzie’s hospitality. Nice amenities include a Solo Stove for enjoying an evening fire, water hose with fresh and excellent tasting water, very clean portapotty and the added ambience of camp lights surrounding the campsite. Thank you McKenzie for a relaxing stay after along day of travel!

Weekend Trip to North American RV & Yurt Village
We stayed in our tents at Apgar campground our first night in Glacier. 2nd night we enjoyed the Yurt experience. Staff was wonderful and kinds. Showers were great to have especially in the rainy weather. Location is very practical for West Glacier entrance. Double bunk was not much more comfortable than my tent air mattress but overall I would absolutely head here again in the future!

It is nestled in a beautiful valley with wildlife and birds all around. The camp is set up for fishermen but is welcoming to anyone and is worth the minutes off the beaten path. Bring a white noise fan if you are a light sleeper as the camp dogs will pipe up occasionally after a bear or night critters. Gus is a friendly and helpful host.

My husband and son stayed in a bike cabin during there 4-day bikepacking trip on the Tour Divide route, and my husband said it was his favorite part of their adventure. Check in was easy, and the conversations, including with Chris, were fun and fascinating. There were warm showers, a sitting/social area, and place to clean up dishes and clothes. My husband wants to go back there on a future bikepacking trip with me, because he said I would love it.
