Whether you’re taking an RV road trip along the Natchez Trace Parkway, fishing and boating around the lakes and rivers, or cooling off at the Gulf Coast beaches in the south―a Mississippi camping trip is more fun if you can bring your four-legged family along for the ride. Luckily, there are pet-friendly outdoor adventures to be found all around the state, whether you’re hiking through De Soto National Forest, hooking catfish at Tombigbee State Park, or ball-throwing and leaf-peeping in Roosevelt State Park. Pets are welcome at Mississippi state parks and campgrounds (except cabin rentals), but you’ll need to keep them on a six-foot leash and off the beaches. Many private campgrounds and rural Hipcamps are also happy to accept well-behaved dogs, but be sure to check if there are size limitations (not all sites welcome big dogs) and whether there’s a pet fee.

All You Need is a 111 acre paradise that is home to some VERY unique and endangered habitat. Our northern boundary is a tract of DeSoto National Forest, where we have practically exclusive access to another 90 acres of longleaf pine savannah and more bottomland creeks. The sandhills are a "desert in the rain," home to prickly pear cactus and yuccas, abundant lichens (deer "moss"), the endangered black pine snake, and our mascot, the also endangered Gopher Tortoise. We're a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. Check out our sister non-profit, the Burrow Nature Center. You will have access to our many walking paths and our swimming pond, as well as a 15 minute walk to part of DeSoto National Forest, which butts up to our property line. We would love to have you as our guest on the land, and are especially eager to meet travelers who deeply love nature and want to live in better relationship to it! 95 acres on the beautiful Topisaw Creek. Here we've raised 5 kids and a multitude of dogs, cats and chickens and a small herd of pineywoods cattle. The woods are quiet and undisturbed , harboring native species like jack in the pulpit, trillium and Florida anise. The spring-fed (and thus always refreshing!) Topisaw Creek forms the eastern border of our property, so plan to spend time on the sandy beaches and rock bars soaking up the sun or hunting for rocks and fossils (petrified wood and arrowheads have been found here). Many folks also enjoy a leisurely float down the creek in inner tubes ('tubing') or in a kayak. (Please note that after heavy rains the creek rises to epic heights and is too dangerous to navigate.) Little to no light pollution makes for amazing stargazing!

We offer shady campsites and fishing in two private lakes stocked with bass and bluegill. Lakes are for campers only! Campers can pick blueberries when they are in season (June-July)--limit 2 pints per site per day. Wildlife is abundant. You will hear owls and coyotes at night. Often bald eagles can be spotted at both lakes. Other wildlife you may see: deer, wild turkey, raccoons, opossums, fox, bobcat, coyote, rabbits, armadillo, otter, and squirrels. Please do not approach the wild animals! There is a pretty creek for those who like to creek walk. Petrified wood can be picked up in the creek bed. Off-road the Rattlesnake Bay Trail or hike the Tuxachanie trail with your crew for a day of laughs deep in the pines. You can pretty much camp forever here too, so pack up a week or two worth of gear, and really dig deep into what Desoto has to offer.

I went tent camping on Vincent’s land. The hike through the stream to the waterfall was beautiful. There’s plenty of space to setup, power available and an outdoor covered pavilion behind the metal building. The noise from the road and railroad is noticeable, but the convenience of the site balances that out. You can take a short, easy hike into to the woods to get away from it all.

We only spent one night here, but loved the good communication, and easy level parking here. We were able to stroll over to the pond to watch the sunset from the swinging benches, and again in the morning to greet the farm animals and birds visiting the nests. Its a sweet spot, wish we could have stayed longer.
