Whether you’re taking an RV road trip along the Natchez Trace Parkway, fishing and boating around the lakes and rivers, or cooling off at the Gulf Coast beaches in the south―a Mississippi camping trip is more fun if you can bring your four-legged family along for the ride. Luckily, there are pet-friendly outdoor adventures to be found all around the state, whether you’re hiking through De Soto National Forest, hooking catfish at Tombigbee State Park, or ball-throwing and leaf-peeping in Roosevelt State Park. Pets are welcome at Mississippi state parks and campgrounds (except cabin rentals), but you’ll need to keep them on a six-foot leash and off the beaches. All You Need is a 111 acre paradise that is home to some VERY unique and endangered habitat. Our northern boundary is a tract of DeSoto National Forest, where we have practically exclusive access to another 90 acres of longleaf pine savannah and more bottomland creeks. The sandhills are a "desert in the rain," home to prickly pear cactus and yuccas, abundant lichens (deer "moss"), the endangered black pine snake, and our mascot, the also endangered Gopher Tortoise. We're a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. Check out our sister non-profit, the Burrow Nature Center. You will have access to our many walking paths and our swimming pond, as well as a 15 minute walk to part of DeSoto National Forest, which butts up to our property line. We would love to have you as our guest on the land, and are especially eager to meet travelers who deeply love nature and want to live in better relationship to it! 95 acres on the beautiful Topisaw Creek. Here we've raised 5 kids and a multitude of dogs, cats and chickens and a small herd of pineywoods cattle. The woods are quiet and undisturbed , harboring native species like jack in the pulpit, trillium and Florida anise. The spring-fed (and thus always refreshing!) Topisaw Creek forms the eastern border of our property, so plan to spend time on the sandy beaches and rock bars soaking up the sun or hunting for rocks and fossils (petrified wood and arrowheads have been found here). Many folks also enjoy a leisurely float down the creek in inner tubes ('tubing') or in a kayak. (Please note that after heavy rains the creek rises to epic heights and is too dangerous to navigate.) Little to no light pollution makes for amazing stargazing!

We offer shady campsites and fishing in two private lakes stocked with bass and bluegill. Lakes are for campers only! Campers can pick blueberries when they are in season (June-July)--limit 2 pints per site per day. Wildlife is abundant. You will hear owls and coyotes at night. Often bald eagles can be spotted at both lakes. Other wildlife you may see: deer, wild turkey, raccoons, opossums, fox, bobcat, coyote, rabbits, armadillo, otter, and squirrels. Please do not approach the wild animals! There is a pretty creek for those who like to creek walk. Petrified wood can be picked up in the creek bed. We are only 30 minutes from the University of Mississippi campus for people coming for ballgame weekends. We are only about 20 minutes from Grenada and Enid Reservoirs. These have some of the finest crappie fishing in the United States. We are located 2 miles east of the Trans America Trail.

Off leash is fantastic as long as your good with it. Lots of room to run. Jon boats with motors, Kayaks and ATV's always ok. Large stretches of sand bars when water permits. Not far from I-20. Great cell reception. Good restaurant down the road in Bovina. Loves truck stop just down the road. The existing road going in "Vickors Rd" can be bumpy, dusty, wet and may hold pools of water at times but the road itself is solid and will support the heaviest of vehicles.

The hospitality was amazing! Soon as we pulled in , we were met and showed where we would be camping. The views were incredible. Guys, you want to give your little woman the “Notebook”feeling, take her to the big lake, row out on one of the boats and wait for the sunset. Trust the process lol. Definitely bring a fishing pole. Monster bass. Did not have a chance to explore the walking trails, but we are definitely going to be back. This is definitely a couples getaway spot or for the whole family. I really think God puts people, places, and opportunities in the appropriate timing. Very thankful for the experience. This was a get away trip that started in Arkansas with a very bad experience and ended the trip here, where one day made the whole week worth it. I cannot say enough about what amazing people that own this place are and I enjoyed our conversations in meeting someone I’ll never forget. Definitely make this a stop on your trip or make this place the whole trip. Promise you won’t want to leave.

As always a great experience at Twin Lakes. Twin Lakes is my go to camp spot. I’ve camped here too many times to count now. The site is always well kept, the hosts are fantastic and the grounds are beautiful. For selfish reasons I’d like Twin Lakes to be a secret campsite. But, for the hosts’ sake I want them to succeed. This is truly a hidden gem, and I'm so grateful we stumbled upon it. We reserved a Glamping tent and were shocked how much space it had inside, with comfortable beds and linens. There was an event going on during our stay and everyone we met was kind and welcoming. Despite there being many other campers, the campsite itself was so incredibly private. Just what we needed to recharge and we will be returning!

The area was quiet and easy to access in the rural area of Clarksdale. It took about 25 minutes to get to town and visit the blues clubs and sites We had 50 amp power and water is available although we didn't need to use it. We had site 3 which for our big rig,but if there would have been someone on site 4 it would have been too tight and we would not have been able to put our slides out. There were restrooms in the building which you are given access to. There is a large pecan orchard, great for walking your dogs.

Wonderful Hipcamp. Beautiful area. The farm and amenities are very well maintained. It was very peaceful and quiet. There are comfortable relaxing areas to sit and enjoy the lake and the views all around. The common shared area is screened and the bathroom was roomy. The bathroom’s hot water was pretty instant and the water pressure in the shower was great. The host and the miniature donkeys are very welcoming! I highly recommend this Hipcamp.

Weekend Trip to All You Need Institute

Stayed solo in the Pond Cabin over a weekend in late August, chasing some quiet, and found exactly that. The property backs up to DeSoto National Forest, and the Lichen Loop Trail alone is worth the trip — 1.1 miles of sandy trail that opens into a stretch of forest floor carpeted in lichen. It's quite beautiful. The cabin itself is simple and cozy, all natural wood, with a little porch that faces a big live oak and the resident chicken coop — the roosters double as a very reliable (if early) alarm clock. The window AC unit kept the room a comfortable 68 degrees once running, which mattered in the late-August heat. My one tip: if you want it cool for arrival, it's worth asking the hosts to switch it on ahead of time. The composting toilet was a first for me and honestly no trouble at all — better than expected. The kitchen has the essentials (stove, fridge, microwave, cookware), but the towel and cutlery situation is slim — bring your own rather than count on what's there. The hosts were warm and easygoing, respected that I was there for solitude, and the wider community had a relaxed, welcoming feel even from a distance. The roads in are rugged, so come with a vehicle that can handle some rough patches, or just take it slow. I came for stillness and left with it. Already thinking about my next visit — highly recommend for anyone looking to unplug and reconnect with some genuinely special land. Thank you, Jordan and team!
