If peace and quiet alongside a charming creek is for you, this is the place to be! Was so wonderful to see Jolene again (we worked together years ago). Her family's farm is beautiful and clean...even the outhouse! Firewood is top notch (better than the state parks are offering these days). Can't wait to visit again in the fall. Highly recommend this host and camp. Thanks Jo!!!

Stayed for one night passing through. Stayed next to the barn and had electricity, all I required. Dan was there when I arrived and helped me get settled. Charming and peaceful farm. I will be back.

Weekend Trip to Ranch Retreat Camping

We had fun! It was a nice little sight, not as private as I would have thought but the less public area is so rural and in the valley that it didn’t matter. I love being on the creek and the kids loved meeting the cows. The little twinkle lights around the property were so sweet, a couple had fallen off their branch so our kids were walking around with them in the evening. It was so quiet and peaceful I felt like we were transferred into a little fairy land.

We had a nice time at the quarry. It was so quiet and we had the quarry to ourselves. Our new adopted dog was able to learn so much about camping with the run of the place while staying close to us and safe. Perfect. ! Erica had our firewood waiting at our site. I was impressed with the uber clean potty! We would stay there again if we were in the area

4 nights at New Hartford trout camp

I loved all the time I had there. As a solo camper who enjoys not seeing any other campers, this site is ideal. Picturesque, private, and expansive site area perfect for birdwatching or simply taking in the shifting views as the sun moves over the bluffs. The land is well taken care of and my dog gave the whole trip a 10/10. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you Greg!

Beautiful views and a joyous soundtrack await at this destination. Located in the bluffs with AMA access points just down the road to fish Pickwick Creek. A very quiet destination with clear instructions and all of the amenities listed. Buy firewood in advance and it’ll be ready and waiting for your arrival. Keep in mind this is in a valley alongside a creek, so the low temps at night will feel lower. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway.

1 night at Valley Angus Farm

If you're looking for a peaceful, authentic farm stay, Valley Angus Farms is a fantastic choice! The views are absolutely beautiful — rolling hills, a small creek running through the property, and if you're up early, you might even catch sight of eagles fishing in the morning. Truly a special, serene place. It's important to remember this is a working cattle farm, so you should expect the sights and smells that come with that — but it just adds to the charm and authenticity of the experience. We stayed in the bunkhouse, which was perfect! It had everything we needed: a comfortable bed, a couch, stove, sinks, a handicap-accessible bathroom (which was incredibly helpful), plus a washer and dryer. Since we were traveling in just a van, it was wonderful to have access to all these amenities. Our original plan was to stay in the RV, but after Jamie fell asleep on the couch, we happily ended up staying inside. Dan was out of town during our visit and had missed the part where we had ordered burgers for the evening. He kindly offered a refund or some hamburger meat instead — we gladly took the fresh beef! Gingie, who met us on arrival, was so sweet and accommodating. Since our setup was small, she let us park the van under a covering, which was an extra kindness we truly appreciated. There are three large farm dogs who are very friendly — and they even got along great with our little Chihuahua, Biscuit. Overall, we had a wonderful, peaceful experience and will definitely stay again.

I appreciated the convenience of being able to purchase bundles of wood right on-site and easily pay through Venmo, making the logistics of camping seamless. Jeff, the host, was exceptionally friendly and attentive. He promptly answered all my questions before my arrival, ensuring a smooth check-in process and a warm welcome. The porta-potty was surprisingly clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall comfort of the experience. One of the highlights was gathering around the campfire in the evenings. It provided a perfect opportunity to unwind and connect with nature, exactly what I needed to recharge. Overall, my stay at Double J's campsite exceeded expectations. It's a fantastic retreat for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature's tranquility while enjoying modern conveniences and hospitality. I can't wait to return!

Cathy and her family are amazing hosts and have a beautiful property. They were so welcoming to my family and made us feel at home. The cabin itself is so cozy, the loft bed was great, my daughter loved looking out over the woods from bed in the evening and morning. The wood stove kept the room warm throughout the night. Will definitely be staying again next time we need to get away for a quick weekend trip!

The Double J

Welcome to the Double J! Of the 71 acres we own, about half is tillable and the other half is woods and pastures for our horses. Within that, there is a beautiful secluded 3-acre meadow nestled down along along a beautiful 1,200 foot stretch of the Zumbro River where we have 5 spacious tent/RV campsites. While the campsites are all adjacent to each other along the river, they are each very spacious (the smallest being 100' wide and 75' deep), with some mature trees scattered around. Each sites (except Site #1) is able to accommodate up to 8 people and more than one tent or RV. There is a small meadow above all the sites where campers can play catch or other games. We provide and maintain a centrally located outhouse and keep the entire area mowed throughout the year. All sites offer great shade trees (perfectly spaced for hanging up a hammock) and access to the river - great for those hot summer days! Water activities to be enjoyed include fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and tubing (equipment not included). Some campers will drop in upstream at the Covered Bridge Park and float down to their campsite. The Zumbro River, especially in the fishing hole, offers great fishing including Trout, Small-mouth, Red-horse, and an occasional Northern or Sauger. Campers are welcome to to meander out into our pastures to pet our two horses, Shiloh and Champ. Also, we are just over a mile from town where you can visit Covered Bridge Park which has a Frisbee golf course and a nice play area for younger kids. Reserving adjacent sites, or all of the sites, makes for the ideal setting for a large family or group camp-out. In order to prevent overcrowding, we do reserve the right to limit number of sites, or campers per site based on overall parties/campers in the camping area. We will notify you if there are any limits at the time of your booking. We enjoy being able to share our property with others, and it is our desire to promote a safe, peaceful, family-friendly environment, therefore, be sure to note, we do have a NO ALCOHOL policy. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to read the "RV Details" on the site information page as the road to the camping area may limit the type or size of RV due to a couple dips, a sharper curve, and it's steeper slope. Also, keep in mind, we reserve the right to cancel any reservations due to heavy rains or floods that may require our sites some additional time to dry out sufficiently. Quarry in the Mississippi Bluff

This is a very private location. In its former life this property was a limestone quarry. Evidence of it's history remain with high rock walls on both ends of the property. In the center of the property is about 5 acres that is flat and covered with wildflowers and small trees. There are several good options for camping in this area. Surrounding this area is another 15 acres of hills and trees. We have a scenic overlook open to all guests where you can relax and sit on a wooden swing while enjoying the beautiful view of the Mississippi River below. There is a boat ramp just a mile down the hill for boating or fishing on the Mississippi and the city of La Crosse, WI and La Crescent, MN are each only about a five minute drive. Great River Bluffs State Park and countless other recreational opportunities are just minutes away.

The English Pale Campground (21+)

The campground and rental house will open May 15, 2025. Sites/house can be booked 6 months in advance. The English Pale Campground and Resort is located along the Black River in Jackson County, 1 mile west of the Village of Melrose. The entire property only allows guests and occupants who are 21 or older. The main campground is 70 feet above the river. We have 5 rustic (no hook-ups) RV/Travel Trailer/Tent sites, a fully furnished “Manor” House, a travel trailer as well as 2 rustic beach sites that are located along the river. The property is a total of 70 acres, which includes the 4+ acre beach, a mile of river front and trails through the woods that connect them all. The English Pale opened in 2021 and is a developing property that offers a reasonable expectation of privacy. We are an adult only property, but not a nudist campground. We do not prohibit our guests from nudity for the purpose of sunbathing on the beach, campsites or sundeck, but nudity is not allowed in general common areas. We have a lovely piece of property to come enjoy a getaway at. We enjoy all of the peace and quiet around here. The night sky is unbeatable in my eyes. We have a small hobby farm with lots of very tame animals. We have 42 acres to roams with lots of trails within the woods that are filled with aged oak trees and many young maple trees. Our property is filled with lots of wild flowers and wildlife. We are locate 3 miles from the root river if you enjoy fishing or going for a float down the river. There are two caves in our area that are a must see while you are visiting. I you like to hike there is a state park 14 minutes from us that have many miles of hiking trails and horse trails. If you are more the small town strolling type of person we have lots of small towns around us that are filled with shops and lots of great food! There is a large system of bike trails in our area that make a very fun way to check out some of the small towns. If you have a family with kids we have a lot of fun activities you can do with your kids, like spending time with the goats, chickens and ducks, playing on our playground, or taking a nice walk through the woods looking for fossils!
