Nestled in Manistee National Forest is a family farm. Trailheads lead to hundreds of miles of public two-track, and the woods roll between oak/maple/beech and aspen/birch. On the farm is a 20 acre lake with a floating island, tent sites, and healthy ecosystems with plenty of wildlife.Our farm pastures pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry, investing in our dirt and our neighbors. We are provision family farms because we provide for our animals even as we are provided for. Drop on in at the house and we may have time for a little tour.In the woods is a small composting toilet, but you're welcome to fertilize our pastures anytime. There's also a shower available in the house.The best time to visit Michigan forests is in October when the leaves turn color and the nights are cool. The mosquitoes are done for the winter and the air is brisk.

The camp spot on Luke's farm was lovely. While we requested the kayaks for their pond, we did not end up using them. The space was very private. We had a little trouble getting to the space as the direction listed in the booking did not land you immediately into the space, but more like adjacent. We arrived late and it was dark out so we had a tough time knowing where to turn, there was very little signage to indicate where exactly to go, and we did not have the best cell service. We made it to their farm and we were given a map.
Overall, i would stay there again and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful time out in nature. The views of the autumn foliage were abundant. Thank you!

This site is a slice of heaven on earth. We had the most comfortable camping conditions weather-wise, it was getting a bit chilly in September so we had the entire property to ourselves. So peaceful and healing. Site 2 and 3 are definitely show stoppers. The walk down to the campsite feels right out of a Disney woodland movie, complete with a ton of foliage, flowers, and a babbling creek that was a dream to listen to as you fall asleep at night. Sarah was awesome and super communicative and let us have free range of the sites during our stay since we were the only ones there. Being on the river was absolutely picturesque and we are already planning on coming back in the summer to enjoy the river more. Thank you, Sarah, for sharing your gorgeous property with us, we are so excited to come back with friends!

The main road in (12 Mile Road) was way more rugged than I had expected. That being said, the site was very remote and extremely peaceful. You can probably make it in (as others suggested, come in from the west off Hemlock) with 2WD, but I was glad I had 4WD for peace of mind.
Also, the site it beautiful! The electric hookup was super convenient. The shower appeared to be hooked directly to the well water line. However, there was a heater there ready to be installed. We used my solar shower which was decently warm.
There are plenty of trails on site and my dog had a blast being off leash the entire week. We did venture into Hungerford for a much longer hike. There was a super nice couple there our first night, but we had the place to ourselves the rest of the week. What a gem of a site. Would love to have a group camp there in the future.

We loved this camp. We travel with our 3 dogs, and this is the perfect place for them to have their space to romp around. Firewood was at the campsite when we got there, a beautiful lake, and seclusion. We came to area to mountain bike the dragon trail, this camp is a great home base for bikers.

Very private campsite with gorgeous view of the stars. We overall had a nice trip, but would make a few adjustments:
- The camp site was smaller than I was expecting based on the photos.
- The walk down to the creek was nice, but could definitely use some maintenance to help clear up the stinging nettle and poison ivy.
- There is poison ivy everywhere along the campsite perimeter, so I wouldn’t recommend this site to groups with pets of kids.
- The entryway is marked with blue reflectors (not rocks like the description says)

This is becoming a tradition for my 14-year-old daughter and I to camp together at site 3. We love the sound of the running water from the spring and the views are amazing. Sarah could not be a better host, we always feel welcome and hope to visit her property for years to come.

Great camping experience overall. Loved the location- lots of cute local farmstands nearby to stop at and beautiful scenery.
We fit 2 small tents on the cleared site and easily could have fit 1-2 more. The site feels secluded and safe. Coyotes started barking around dusk and did not stop until dawn. We took a walk down to the river (follow the pink blazes) but the path was very overgrown once you got down to the bottom and the tall grass was irritating our skin, even through pants, so we didn't linger. Lots of thorny plants (blackberries) everywhere. Did not see any ticks and surprisingly low mosquitos. The site came with a couple of nice logs to burn and we had no problem finding kindling and branches nearby for the fire. There were also a few tools, like a shovel, rake, and fire pokey thing.
Note: the little road to the site is hard to find but just be smart about it. I downloaded google maps for the area and saved the coordinates and was able to use the satellite image to find the way (it is marked by two reflectors but there is also a sign that says no trespassing before you see the HIP sign). We did have a little intermittent cell service but don't count on it.
I was with a friend this time but would feel safe camping alone here as a woman.

The forest was nice. There was plenty of space to set up our tent and park next our camp. Car camping was great for one night. There was a composting toilet for us to use if needed. Mike and Ally were very responsive and welcoming. They communicated quickly and showed us around when we arrived.

It's just the most beautiful place to go! It was my third trip and it won't be my last. Sarah is the best hostess and the place is absolutely beautiful.
Definitely bring a wagon and some water shoes and you'll have the best time.
I love Site #1 and keep coming back to it. The others are gorgeous, too, but I love the spillway and the creek. It's so tucked away that you'd never believe there was camping down there. The river isn't super deep so it's great for wading and swimming. Plus, there are spots you could drop kayaks or tubes in up river and float back to Doriath. I brought an anchor and floated on rafts for hours right out front.
I'm so grateful that Sarah shares this place with the world!

21 ft campervan
I stayed one night in my camper van, a 2wd Ram ProMaster 3500. Definitely approach from the west (from Hemlock), not from the east as there's a long, sandy ascent that really requires 4wd this way; my van didn't have a prayer of making it, and it's a long way to back out but there's no choice 'cause there's no way to turn around. Come from the west and you're fine!
The site is really great. I was the only inhabitant, but there are multiple electric hookups all around the big fire ring. Pretty cool to have electric way out in the woods...that had to be a major project getting wires run. There's a very clean porta john on site too. For my night here, I had total privacy, excellent stars, and quiet - definitely will return.
