Life Adventures

Sleep to the sound of tree frogs, owls, distant coyotes, and maybe even wake to sounds of chickens in the morning. Walk thru a glitter of fire flies down a trail at night. My black lab Luke will likely visit your site to say hello and is super chill. Only 30 minutes east of Grand Rapids, this property was established as a Youth Camp for 15 years is now a private event venue and campground, so it has nice amenities like FULL restrooms, a picnic shelter, and even a few small cabins that can be rented. Swimming beach is available in Lowell a few miles away. Fishing rivers and lakes are also in the area. (live bait in Saranac) Woods site and Open Area have a few different locations you can choose from. If woods or open shows booked already, please contact me. Additional fee of $20 per extra tent/camper that sleeps an adult. Picnic shelter is also available. Use my website to RSVP entire camp area for an event such as wedding.

Long Haul Flower Farm

3 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Chelsea, MI
Long Haul Farm is an organic flower farm in Chelsea, MI dedicated to sustainably growing plants, family, community, and soil biology for generations, the long haul! --- 2024 update ---- We are doing less flower growing that we did before, as life has taken us to work outside of our own space. However, we've shifted to more stewardship on our property and the adjacent preserve. We'd love to guide you on a hike and teach about the local ecology, flora, and fauna too! The goats and chickens continue to provide joyful entertainment as well. --- AN OFFERING --- Acknowledging that this land was unceded by the people who previously occupied it, we're offering that anyone with indigenous ancestry can stay for reduced rates, just message us and ask! -------- History -------- Growing up, I used to come here to visit my great-aunt & uncle's horse ranch. My great uncle grew up visiting his great uncle who was one of the first in our family on this land. They were animal and nature lovers, and in their retirement, sold 130 acres to The Nature Conservancy, all of which is now protected as a county nature preserve. Unfortunately, 11 years ago, my great-uncle and aunt had passed, and we had to sell the family land. Serendipitously, as we were looking for a farm homestead to move to, we reconnected with the owners of the land, and they were just deciding to sell it. My family was able to buy back the family land and continue the legacy. -------- Onwards ---- Kathryn and I are restarted our cut-flower farm and hoping to develop a permaculture inspired orchard and keep chickens and pigs. We love living here surrounded by extensive state and county parks and recreation land, while still being close enough to Chelsea and Ann Arbor for all that they provide. Our aim is to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable atmosphere for our visitors. We hope to provide a refuge in nature and perhaps even some education of flowers or wildlife. Join us in carrying on the legacy of family land stewardship and love for natural spaces! - Doug (he/him/his) & Kat (she/her/hers) & Phoebe (3yr old - She/they TBD)

Backyard Homestead

1 site · RV55 acres · Nashville, MI
Located on the site of a 19th century farm house, the current structure is a converted fiber carding mill. The building was designed to honor it's farming heritage by taking on the look of a traditional red barn. The host has lived most of her life on various sized farms and has now, in retirement, converted her backyard into an ever expanding series of gardens. Starting with two small raised beds.and a few flower gardens, it currently includes the flower gardens, two herb beds, the original raised beds, Concord grapes, and two fairly large vegetable gardens . In 2021 chicken were added to help with the recycling of garden waste. It's now 2023 and this year Strawberries, Red Raspberries and cold frames are being added to the gardens. The property also includes a large woodlot and meadows where foraging of wild eatables takes place.. The host has an keen interest in tiny house living and would be open to working with a tiny house owner. Learn more about this land: Enjoy a bit of the country life on a backyard homestead. Wake up to the chickens and enjoy touring the vegetable, herb and flower gardens. Less than two miles to beautiful Charlton Park for fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and historic village tours. Nature and Nurture Farm

4 sites · RVs, Tents130 acres · Dexter, MI
Our 130 acre property is currently an organic heirloom vegetable seed farm that is only 12 minutes from Ann Arbor. Part of it was formerly owned by the Egeler family who at one time owned quite a bit of Marshall Rd and part of it was owned by the Mersereau family. It was formerly a conventional farm, but we've converted it to organic seed production (see www.natureandnurtureseeds.com). The rolling land is 1/2 forest/wetlands and 1/2 fields, making it a biodiverse hot spot for plants, animals, and fungi.

Cabin in the woods.

2 sites · Lodging35 acres · Belding, MI
I am creating a homestead based on simple but holistic living. The cabin was built built by myself with the help of family and friends. There are a number of trails to walk on the 35 private acreage of rolling hills. This heavily wooded land hosts much wildlife and beautiful scenery. There is a sport court which provides opportunities to play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, or badminton. The property is a work in progress with lots of plans for the future; including a food forest, natural pool, recreation building (being built summer 2022), and more.. The property offers a chance to reconnect with each other, yourself, or the natural world in a simplistic and harmonious way. I hope you come experience it! 35 private acres of forest on rolling hill terrain. Lots of wildlife nestled very close to the flat river; 30-40 minutes away from Grand Rapids. The Fred Meijer trail provides great biking or hiking opportunities. Lazy float tubing or kayaking down the flat river is very popular and only a short walk away. Horse back riding, golf courses, and an amazing local bakery all within a couple miles. And a fun sport court (basketball hoop, volleyball/badminton/pickelball net all right on site!
