We have about 35 acres and trails through the area for exploring. You just may come across some "forts" constructed by some of our grandchildren. There is a large fire pit and plenty of firewood for a minimal cost. (Large trash can full. ) If you listen in the evening, you are likely able to hear a couple of owls talking back and forth. Usually you can see some deer and maybe some turkeys. There are many old pines around the property, the last remnants of our Christmas tree farm. There is no electricity in the cabin, but we do have two solar lights and some battery lights. If it's been rainy, the solar won't last as long as usual. If it's chilly, we do have a portable heater available. We have cornhole game available upon request and some table games kept in cabin. If you want to go biking, there is a trail in town, about 5 miles away.

There are a number of trails to walk on the 35 private acreage of rolling hills. This heavily wooded land hosts much wildlife and beautiful scenery. There is a sport court which provides opportunities to play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, or badminton. The property is a work in progress with lots of plans for the future; including a food forest, natural pool, recreation building (being built summer 2022), and more.. Horse back riding, golf courses, and an amazing local bakery all within a couple miles. And a fun sport court (basketball hoop, volleyball/badminton/pickelball net all right on site!

The shack isn’t perfectly air tight so you might encounter a few bugs however with Chickens around they are natural bug exterminators. Ceiling height it just at 6 ft meaning those taller than that need to Duck under beams. Please beware. *summer info : Lake can only be viewed from the upstairs of shack due to tall reeds or by way of walking path which is still under construction partially handmade from scrap lumber . It’s about 2/3 complete with newly built dock, sections (see pics). The path is usually partially underwater until mid May so please check if you plan to kayak you will use at your own risk. *:It’s too mucky to swim right off shore but you can Kayak out to the swimming area. Kayak use is allowed as long as waiver is signed. Closed toed/water shoes recommended . Potential for 4 guests which is tight, or more if part of your crew wanted to set up a tent. *Fall/winter info: Use of our guest bathroom is permitted during colder months -just ask!. Keep in mind, The only heat will be a 1500 watt heater.

Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way). We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option. We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy. We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs. There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it. At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer that we use to stock our farm stand. Our farm stand provides veggies (when ready), chicken and ducks eggs, handmade crafts and items from our River’s Edge Lavender business. We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a cost that is located on the farm stand . Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire pit. We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river. We are new to hosting so please provide us with feedback! We are working on the campsites so suggestions are welcome to what can make it better. A porta potty will be available in the future. Need a quiet, secluded getaway? Our off-grid cabin is on approximately 10 acres of private woods. As you turn off the main road into our cabin's driveway, you will begin to understand why this is our hidden gem. Enjoy the coziness of a wood stove in the winter or a crackling fire in seclusion in the summer- this little getaway cabin is sure to create fond memories. Maybe you will hear the horned owl at night or see an eagle while you kayak. Your adventure or a peaceful vacation awaits. The 450-square-foot cabin has a queen bed in the loft and two cots that can accommodate more guests. Guests must be able to climb a wooden log ladder. The kitchen has a two-burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand-washing sink and a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for washing and drinking during your stay. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire, and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold. Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or purchase, and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water that is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May to September. Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a railroad bed adjacent to the cabin area. Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer. For more than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person. Pets are a $25 per pet additional fee. Pets are not to be on furniture and not to be taken into the loft for their protection.

Weekend Trip to Little Cabin in the Woods

Sandy’s cabin was a wonderful little getaway for us and our elderly pup Moose! The perfect balance of forest seclusion off-griddery with plenty of creature comforts. We had peaceful mornings listening to the rain and sipping our coffees, and at night, s’mores over the campfire (and Barred Owl hoots!). I especially loved reading the handwritten guest books, what treasures! I feel so lucky to have had the chance to stay at this special place. Thanks again Sandy, hoping to be back soon!

Richard is a great host and the property is really unique. Quick communication. Site is secluded and feels private. Camper and bathroom was clean. Kayaks and tubes. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to friends.

Weekend Trip to Vibe CAMP!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My girlfriend and I stayed at Kirk’s RV campsite while we were in town to see Billy Strings, and the whole experience was genuinely magical. The location was perfect. Not far from the concert, but tucked away enough that it felt like our own little piece of paradise. Kirk was an awesome host: accommodating, fun, laid-back, great energy, and genuinely willing to go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Our RV had power, running water, a stove, and a fridge, so we had all the essentials while still getting the full camping experience. The atmosphere was probably our favorite part. It’s the kind of place where hippies and rednecks can come together, crack a beer, listen to some music, enjoy the outdoors, and somehow all be on the same wavelength. 😂 Just good people, good energy, and good vibes all around. If you’re coming through for a concert, an adventure, or just want somewhere unique to unplug for a while, Kirk’s place is a little slice of paradise. We’d absolutely stay again!

Weekend Trip to Riverside Respite at New Richmond

Loved staying at this spot- a comfy yurt, nice space to hang out, and gorgeous river views. There is no electric, so the solar lights at night were appreciated. Thank you for sharing this space!

1 night at Vibe CAMP!

I was the 1st to stay at vibe camp. Kirk was very welcoming. Had things setup perfectly. It was very private and peaceful. With the work that I do. I need the rest to recharge, vibe camp was perfect for that. I’ve been doing hipcamp for a month now. Doing a 3 months camp trip to experience the area more. Out of several places I’ve stayed at vibe camp is the 2nd best I’ve been to. Trust me there are places on this app that are not what it has advertised. But vibe camp is exactly what it says it is and is clean and safe. A lot of women using this app from my experience of meeting them along the way. They deserve to know what is safe and clean and what is not. Dalton camp and Vibe Camp are the two best places on this app for western Michigan.

4 nights at Hidden Pines Campground

It was a very interesting experience, I stayed and extra day. I’ve been to multiple HiCamp locations this one is the only one with a cleaning fee which should not be charged due to the shape and condition of the camper. I personally didnt stay inside the camper. I made a bed in my suv. I did lose a pet due to something spilled on the ground which technically wasn’t the owners fault. I saw a random guy dumping something about two spots away from me. Once he saw me he took off in his beat up red truck. Beside those two things. If you like the movie children of the corn this gives you the feeling of the movie. In a middle of a cornfield. Very private. Hard to find. A lot of newer homes are being built. Solar generator didn’t last more than a few house. With only the fan on. I attempted to clean the camper but once it didn’t have power it was too hot to do anything. So the cleaning fee needs to go away. The roof does leak too. Great place to hideout from your life and just get away from everything and everyone. Some people need that I suggest bringing your own rig

1 night at Life Adventures

This little cabin was perfect for me. I slept on the futon sofa inside and was able to use the desk as a mini office to get some work done. The microwave inside helped simplify meals. It was also a beautiful and safe evening and the morning sun was beautiful on the field. Luke came to hang out and the firewood is in blue barrels off by the other cabin. Very safe.

I am so grateful for Erica and all she did to make our stay the best it could be! The property is small enough to be cozy but big enough to explore as well. Erica provided so much more than I was expecting, such as a small cart and a cooler to transport snacks and drinks to the river front from the RV.

This was my second stay with Scott and Christine in their 5th wheel camper. MORE than enough room, well stocked and appointed. They supply all the fresh bedding, towels etc that you need. Very quiet and private yet only 10 minutes from restaurants and anything else you could need or want. It sure beats a hotel!! I'll be back again, I am sure!!!

Weekend Trip to Tucked - Away Cabin

This site is incredible. The location is very private and the land is a small clearing deep in the woods with lots of little nooks to explore. The hand built log cabin is so cool, especially the photo album showing how it was made, and it's so special to see how this extended family has used it as a reunion campsite. Wonderful vibes. Cathy is very welcoming and a great host. She set us up very well and made sure we had everything we needed. She's very responsive over the messaging app. We went with 2 elementary age kids and had a fabulous time even though it rained. We pitched a tent in addition to the cabin. We loved the smokeless firepit, too. Overall, an amazing weekend!
