Consequently, if you view the various on line satellite images be advised they are out of date and do not reflect the love we have put into our sanctuary. We are retired and live here with our two standard poodles Mila and Indiana. The property is 5 acres, mostly meadow with a maple grove as well as a wooded ravine. Our location is convenient to Traverse City, Alden, Belaire, Kalkaska as well as the equestrian center and the casino in Williamsburg. There are various places to eat/drink within close proximity as well as places to purchase fuel, groceries and liquor. Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are a convenient drive where you can visit the many vineyards, orchards and enjoy the beautiful vistas of the lake and bays, or shop some of the unique stores and galleries. There are many off road vehicle and bike trails that are not far away as well. As well as boating on beautiful Torch Lake and the chain of lakes. A day trip to Sleeping Bear dunes is well worth the drive. We would be happy to make suggestions on activities, dining, entertainment during your stay. We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. Echo Valley Forest Reserve is a backcountry site located deep within the forest near the center of Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, ten minutes from Empire Beach, Glen Haven, and Glen Arbor. The camp site is completely private, with only party rented to at a time. It is in the center of a 40-acre parcel, surrounded by thousands of acres of National Lakeshore and private forested land. Access is off of a rough seasonal two-track but most 2-wheel drive cars are fine. Watch out for rocks. There are solar lights, a pit toilet, a fire ring, and a ~8x8' deck. There is room for 4 cars, and as many tents as you can set up. We have 4 rules: 1) Leave no trace. Do not leave garbage at camp. DO NOT BURN garbage, people cook in that pit. 2) NO cutting into the live trees. You will get a 0-star review, 100% of the time. 3) Keep cars on the gravel driveway. 4) Put out all fires completely (COLD) and respect any Burn Bans that may be active at the time of your stay. We recommend your first arrival during daylight hours so you can see the entrance of the property. The non-maintained county road, the last ½ mile in is typically not passable during winter and snow seasons except by snowshoe or snowmobile due to the snow level. Never leave children or pets unattended! Be aware of the chance encounter with an endangered massasauga rattler, it may be endangered but it is still poisonous and they have been seen on and around the property before. Ticks are on the rise, and the springtime can be very buggy, and mosquito-y with the surrounding swampy areas. There are bear, coyote, and an assortment of other creatures big and small. This is a wilderness area and so please be aware of wild animals. Never leave your small contained fire unattended at the firepit and watch for sparks, completely douse the fire before you leave as this is a fire-prone area. No fires outside the firepit for safety reasons and fire hazards. If you want firewood here in Grayling, there are a few places that sell it. There is down debris in our woods but as the summer goes by, it may be picked through. You can pull and circle through the open area with your RV, or you can tuck into the RV / camping spot. There is enough room for 5 or 6 cars but campers may crowd that a bit. If you are tent camping, you are welcome to set up elsewhere on the property. There are trails throughout the property and you may see the ‘No Trespassing’ signs all along the perimeter of the 23.7 acres. The toilet is now working again, but we ask that you not overtaxed it ;p . The small cabin is fairly stocked with pots and pans, good for campfire cooking. Picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate on site for your use. There are tons of nearby outdoor recreational opportunities and water bodies very close by, or you can spend your time on this private tract. The military board land and small arms range is just past the road to the west, you may hear small arms practice at times, the sound of freedom.

This 20-acre property is surrounded by public land and is a short hike to Rapid River, which is nestled in a valley of giant cedars and white pines. The property has trails through a hardwood forest of maples, beeches and cherry trees. There is also an open meadow that boasts an abundance of wildlife. The property is secluded on a deadend two-track less than two miles from US-131 between Kalkaska and Mancelona. Torch Lake is only a 20-minute drive and Traverse City is about 50 minutes away. There is a clean porta-potty and water can be provided on request. Also, a 4-person tent can be provided at an additional cost. The campsite has a fire ring, shovel and plenty of wood for late night fires. The Raven's Nest is a cozy 12 x 16 cabin. It is an off-grid experience with a wood stove for winter adventures. Outhouse on site, newly planted fruit trees on site, very rustic, serene, beautiful, access to the Milky Way, and meteoroid showers. One mile from launch into South Arm of Lake Charlevoix, and less than 0.5 mile to Jordan River Rogers Road access. Beautiful and peaceful area. Located in Lake Charlevoix Watershed Area. Visit some of the local beautiful farms such as Friske's, Lavendar Hill, local farmers markers, and vineyards! There is a casino located in Petoskey on Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan as well as Mackinaw, and are a short drive away! Take a jump off the breakwall, or visit the newest bridge at Boyne Mountain Resort, just a stone's throw away! Relax in peace, the woods, and enjoy a little slice of heaven. There is no electricity, running water, or trash services. Please pack in, pack out. Please do not leave discarded or broken beer or alcohol bottles on property. There are over 30 fruit trees on site, from Black Pearl and Bing Cherries, Apricots, Peach trees, Honeycrisp apples trees etc, 250 sunflower seeds were also planted this season. This is a very delicate area near a local watershed source, Deer Creek, wetlands on property, and also fruit tree farm in it's early stages, organic strawberries, and organic raspberries growing as well. If you can't respect the trees, plants, flowers, on property please do not book! Also with all of the fruit tree plantings, parking is limited to one to two vehicles inside property at site, other vehicles can park along the drive on M32. We had a fantastic stay at Site 1 – Elm Valley (hosted by Jayne). From the moment we arrived, Jayne greeted us warmly, offered firewood, and helped guide our 22-ft travel trailer into the perfect spot. The site was level, flat, with water & electric hookups—just what we needed. We were among the last campers of the season and feel grateful we were able to secure such a great location. The location was very convenient—several wineries were just a short drive away—making it easy to explore when time permitted. We were in town for the Iceman Cometh Challenge mountain bike race and enjoyed chatting with Jayne about the event and her family/friends who’ve done it. Upon departure, her husband stopped by to ensure everything was good—it wrapped up the stay perfectly. Jayne is exactly the kind of host you hope for: friendly, attentive but unobtrusive. We’ll absolutely plan to return—maybe next summer to make fuller use of those nearby wineries. Highly recommended.

Weekend Trip to HillCrest

Hillcrest (Lake View) has a beautiful view. Chose this for a fall getaway. Great location central to Traverse City (asylum tour) and Boyne Mountain (Skybridge). Hosts are friendly and Avion RV was a cool experience, clean and well-stocked with everything you need. Hope to visit again in the summer to experience Torch Lake, which is very close to this.

Jeannie & I loved Phil & Stormy's Place. It was quiet this time of year, and we were lucky to be the only folks at their Camp. They definitely had made it their own, and have great amenities. Firewood & Firepit, 30 amp service, a water hose , picnic table & dry kindling.. 2 Porta Potties on site, and a RV cleanout. Great Wooden games around the site for folks enjoyment. Phil is a world renown Game maker who makes Games and interesting items, which he makes in his shop on site. Sends it all around the world. Besides meeting Phil and Chit chatting, because we are both Hip Camp Hosts, Phil gave us a tour of his Shop and woodworking area. Pretty impressive. He was a great host, and is Passionate about Kubb, a Yard game that was originally played overseas, but because of Phi, brought the game to the US. He actually has his own playing field. We plan on visiting again, as we loved the vibe

The campsite were large, clean, and perfectly level, which made setup a breeze. You can really tell the hosts take pride in keeping the place beautiful and well-maintained.
