We are the quintessential family farm/homestead, our farmhouse was built in the 1840’s
Bill and I bought this 13-acre property in 2012, It was overgrown with wild roses. We have worked with a limited budget, and used animals to clear the land. The goats love the wild roses. The pigs dig the roses up. Chickens rake it clean. Win win!
Very interesting place here- lots to tell you, there’s quite a list of things to do and see around here! Did you know that Gilbertville has a covered bridge? It is one of the last covered bridges still in use in Massachusetts!
First- a touch of Hardwick History:
Rev. Timothy Ruggles bought this land from the Native Americans for his family to live on, and to work the land.
His son, Brigadeer General Timothy Ruggles became unpopular after he introduced the Stamp Act, and was banished to Nova Scotia.
His daughter Bathsheba became the last woman executed in the United States for the murder of her husband Joshua Spooner. (There’s a book about it called Murdered by his wife, by Deborah Navas.)

You can kayak, and fish, at Swift River in Belchertown.
Hardwick is the home of the oldest agricultural fair in the US, held every year in August, and, every Sunday there’s a small farmers market on the common.
Hardwick also has a winery- Hardwick Vineyard and Winery, they have all kinds of events, (find them on facebook) and, check out Lost Towns brewery- the name is a throwback to the 4 towns that were submerged to create the Quabbin Reservoir!
Medicine River Pow Wow is in August here in Gilbertville, on River Run Rd.
The East Quabbin Land Trust has birdwatching and fabulous views, and the Mass Central Rail Trail entrance is located here. Bike it or hike it!
Quabbin Reservoir is close by for boating and fishing.
There are free concerts in Grenville Park in Ware, (check for dates).
Ware also has Janine’s Frostee ice cream and fast foods- and live music on weekend nights!

Easy access to beautiful Chapman Pond (100 yards away), which is stocked with Trout and also home to Bass, Crappie and Perch. Great place to fish or just relax! The use of two kayaks and firewood available at no extra charge. (IF using the kayaks, they are to be brought back to the campsite and NOT left at the pond. If they are left at the pond and stolen, campers will be responsible for the replacement cost, which is about $600.) Lots of wildlife (loons, turtles, geese, deer, bear etc). You're free to explore the land and trails that go part way around the pond to the "Big Rock" and beyond. Info at the campsite for other nearby hikes and activities. We allow public access to the "Grassy Area", however larger camper groups that book this site have full access and are welcome to setup tents there, but no fires are allowed on the grass.. only in designated fire pit.
(FOR THOSE WITH A TOW BEHIND CAMPER, you will want to drive to the pond boat landing at the end of Chapman Pond Rd, turn around, head back towards the campsite and BACK IN.)
FOR THOSE WITH DOGS, we love dogs, we have our own. For everyone's safety and well-being we ask that you please keep them with you and under your control at all times. We have a farm nearby and want no casualties because of a loose dog. Also, our 90 lb APBT is very friendly but not to every dog he meets. $20 PET FEE - 2 DOGS MAX.
SMOKERS, we allow smoking at the site but please dispose of your butts properly and help keep our property beautiful.
All around beautiful and peaceful campsite. City of Keene is 15 minutes away.

If they are left at the pond and stolen, campers will be responsible for the replacement cost, which is about $600.) Lots of wildlife (loons, turtles, geese, deer, bear etc). You're free to explore the land and trails that go part way around the pond to the "Big Rock" and beyond. Info at the campsite for other nearby hikes and activities. We allow public access to the "Grassy Area", however larger camper groups that book this site have full access and are welcome to setup tents there, but no fires are allowed on the grass.. only in designated fire pit.
(FOR THOSE WITH A TOW BEHIND CAMPER, you will want to drive to the pond boat landing at the end of Chapman Pond Rd, turn around, head back towards the campsite and BACK IN.)
FOR THOSE WITH DOGS, we love dogs, we have our own. For everyone's safety and well-being we ask that you please keep them with you and under your control at all times. We have a farm nearby and want no casualties because of a loose dog. Also, our 90 lb APBT is very friendly but not to every dog he meets. $20 PET FEE - 2 DOGS MAX.
SMOKERS, we allow smoking at the site but please dispose of your butts properly and help keep our property beautiful.

This place was amazing, very private site super quiet at night and the animals were a bonus. Really wish we had more time but were only in town for a wedding, can’t say anything bad about this place. The surrounding area has lots of trails and looked very nice. Definitely would stay again if we are in the area.

Really nice thick grass to pitch the tents. The duck eggs were really good, highly recommend them. The outhouse was nice and clean and had automatic lighting at night. The goats and chickens came by in the mornings to feed and check us out. A really friendly, well behaved dog came by at night and loved attention. Everyone on the trip wanted to camp there again.

We had a wonderful time at Find Your Muse / Rosy Goat Farm. Trisha and Bill were super kind and welcoming and their farm is so lovely. We very much enjoyed the very soft grass at the tent site, the gorgeous wildflower fields with mowed walking paths and a tour of the farm. It’s a truly idyllic spot and a beautiful experience. The location is also really great and a perfect spot for an early fall retreat. The site is clean and well maintained and has everything you’d need including a very clean wooden outhouse, firewood to purchase, a picnic table and nice fire pit.

Moe, is a fantastic host with a very nice spot to spend a night. Fish rising in the pond all evening and although on a traveled road, privacy and peace are here. Moe visited and even brought some veggies from her garden.
Bring your own fire wood and enjoy the chiminea overlooking the pond.

A beautiful site with lots of room. Well maintained and exactly as described. Family friendly (we had a 3 year old and two 7 year olds)!!
There were two mulched leveled spots for tents near the fire pit and picnic table as well as a few possible tent spots at the far end at the top of a slant. The outhouse was nicely built and clean. Recommend bringing something to carry water from the hydrant in (it’s just down the drive). We had a great time!
Trisha and Bill were warm host who were happy to make sure we had what we needed. We went on the farm tour and the kids got to help collect eggs. The goats Nutmeg and Bambi were friendly and cute. They sometimes came to visit the edge of the campsite to eat the invasive bushes and get pets. Our whole group agreed that we’d come back again!

We were running behind due to some extremely heavy traffic and didn’t arrive until after dark. Trisha was incredibly communicative and accommodating. We woke up to sheep and goats grazing peacefully, and a little duckling family was exploring around our tent. It was an absolutely magical experience. What a gem. We were driving up to Bangor, ME for the Labor Day weekend and were having a hard time finding a spot when we found Suncook. What a find! Our spot was right on the river and just around the corner to a clean bathroom and showers. The campgrounds had several options for staying including yurts, domes, tent sites, rv sites and even classic furnished rvs. They have a pool, bounce house, playground, a big firepit area and an outdoor kitchen where they looked to be building something new. We would definitely come back when in the area and recommend coming and seeing them! Bonus, dog friendly and a dog washing station on the side of the bath house if needed.
