The house was so cute a cozy. It is a real house with electricity, internet, TV, dvd player, and Netflix, a full kitchen, and the bathroom is right beside the upstairs bedroom. The view from the bed in the morning was a beautiful huge tree in the field. Down the hill is a very large pond. I can see a float and canoes that would be great in the summer. There is a huge pavilion beside the lake with couches, a long table, chairs, a grill, and a refrigerator. There are two outside RV toilet stalls at the lake too. When I drove in I saw horses in a field and a little donkey running around, playing in a a pen. I stopped and watched. Close to the house they have goats in a pen and they wanted me to pat them. The owner, Maria, told me I could. She also has a pig and chickens. I enjoyed the solitude but this place would be wonderful for a family outing or corporate retreat. I forgot a few things, so Maria directed me to a nearby Walmart in Tappahannock. I highly recommend a stay at Maria's farm.

We had a wonderful time at Jill’s property for an overnight trip with our camper. We had the whole place to ourselves and enjoy the peaceful countryside while exploring the pond and beautiful tree covered driveway. Jill’s communication has been the best we’ve experienced this far!!

This is my first time using hipcamp and honestly the experience was perfect. everything looks just like the pictures. it is a very quiet safe neighborhood. I had stuff on top of my car that was untouched and safe in the morning. Bring your own Camp toilet and you're good to go. To be this close to everything. And so much cheaper than a hotel. Would absolutely recommend this place.

Only stayed one night as we were traveling through for a baseball game in Baltimore but we would 100% stay again, we had a nice quiet spot near the back of camp with plenty of room as tent campers. Bathrooms/showers were only a few steps away. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and made us feel safe and right at home. ☺️

The location is convenient to Cambridge and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.

Great site! Gorgeous sunsets, appreciated being able to walk out onto a dock to watch them, Closely located utilities, and mostly level, grassy area with nearby pine trees. Nearby house/garage, but it was unoccupied. Had a lovely view of the water from our rear dinette.

It’s a well groomed site with a tent pad, parking, table and fire pit. The water is right there. Gorgeous views. A camp store is near for wood and supplies.
There is no grill on the fire pit, so you can’t cook on the fire unless you bring the right equipment.

This site is a very special place. Cool bay breezes, awesome sunsets, friendly people and well off the beaten path. We enjoyed our week stay on marina site 2 in a 25ft RV.
Site was level and comes with electric water and sewer, which is a huge plus when staying for an extended period. Walking access to Hooper's Island General store is very handy indeed. A small rural general store with practically any basics you would need.
Leon and Katie were very responsive to our inquiries and quick to address any issue if needed. We will to return to this site in the future.
Some things to know before you book:
1. This site is a small peninsula with water on 3 sides. If you have small children or cannot swim, this site may not be for you!
2. The area is very rural. If you are looking for daily activities outside of the site, you are are going to be driving at least 45 mins. NOTE: Assateague Island National Seashore is a good day trip! Blackwater Refuge is beautiful (and close too!)
3. If you have water toys (e.g. Kayak, Paddle board, Even small boat) this place is for you. Lots of opportunities to safely float & fish all around.
4. Bring Bug Spray! Katie and Leon fogged the site ahead of time for us and it was wonderful and the breeze keeps the skeeters at bay. However if no breeze and you are offsite, be prepared!
5. Enjoy the Music, Food and Tiki bar at Old Salty's!
If you are looking for a quiet, rural & scenic location for your next HipCamp , then this camp is for you.

We had a blast at Leon & Katie's campsite! Nature has made this the perfect piece of land to camp, but they have obviously spent a great deal of time and expended a great deal of effort to make it extra special! First of all, what a view! Water on 3 sides and an incredible sunset! The site was a bit off our path, but we decided to give it a go, especially since it is near the water. What a great decision that turned out to be! We didn't want to leave! The hosts recommended that, if we had time, we explore further onto the island. We decided to take the extra time. What an enjoyable drive! Just a beautiful area! We very highly recommend camping here. To add to the awesomeness of this site, the general store which is located at the entrance from the road has everything you could ever need, including a good meal. They had some crabby boiled eggs that were a delicious snack on the road! I promise you, this is the place you want to choose. I think it is our new favorite HipCamp. You'll be glad you chose to set up here!
