Enjoy a peaceful camping experience on the grounds of Travellers Rest Farm Sanctuary, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing lifetime care for senior, blind, disabled, unwanted, and slaughter-bound horses. Located in the heart of Southern Maryland, our secluded property offers open pastures, mature trees, beautiful sunsets, incredible stargazing, and the chance to relax in a quiet country setting. Wake up to birds singing, watch horses graze nearby, and enjoy the slower pace of farm life. Whether you're traveling through with an RV, camping in a tent, fishing the Potomac, attending an event at Maryland International Raceway or Budds Creek, or visiting Patuxent River Naval Air Station, our location makes a convenient and peaceful home base. Your campsite includes water, electricity, Wi-Fi, and trash service. RV and tent campers are welcome. Friendly hosts are available if needed while still giving guests plenty of privacy. Please note that we do not have restrooms, showers, or an RV dump station. Small campfires are permitted with approval when local fire conditions allow. One leashed dog per site is welcome with current vaccination records. As with any rural property, you'll hear the sounds of country life—horses, birds, owls, and the occasional fox. During daytime hours, neighboring county law enforcement may conduct firearms training, which can sometimes be heard from the property, and the local dogs can be heard. Every stay helps support the horses at Travellers Rest Farm Sanctuary, making your camping trip part of something meaningful.

Our designated tent sites offer the convenience of a level space with access to water and electricity. Your stay includes electric, water, trash service, and Wi-Fi, ensuring convenience while you unwind. Please note that septic services are not available. Whether you're looking for a quiet retreat or an adventure in the great outdoors, The Sanctuary at Oaks provides the perfect setting for your stay. Located near outdoor attractions, The Sanctuary at Oaks is just minutes from Oak Ridge Park, perfect for hiking and baseball games, and Gilbert Run Park, where you can enjoy freshwater fishing, boating, and kayaking. For convenience, the property is only two miles from gas stations, grocery stores, and a hardware store in Charlotte Hall. Additionally, it's just 11 miles (a 20-minute drive) to Budds Creek Motocross Park, Maryland International Raceway, and Potomac Speedway—making it an excellent base for motorsports fans. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this spacious property, featuring wooded areas, a creek, and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. As a courtesy to future guests, please leave the space as good or better than you found it.

I loved every moment of my 5-day camp at Sanctuary at Oaks. The land has beautiful views over the horse farm, open fields, open sky, and potential for wildlife sightings. The tent site was conveniently outfitted with water and electricity, which held me for my extended stay. I would definitely recommend 👌🏽 👍🏽 ☺️.

They were super accommodating and very friendly. The site was peaceful and out of the way. We even had electric and water at our disposal. Thank you both for a perfect stay. I will be back when I fish in another Potomac River tournament :)

SOMD is known for it's history and farmland. The Oaks is a retired horse sanctuary located less than 10 minutes away from conveniences. It's located in a private country setting, conveniently located at the northern end of St. Mary's. With open fields, there's plenty acres of space to explore, bird watch, as well as do some pretty awesome star gazing on clear nights. It's mostly quiet... the property does neighbor a police gun-range and the hosts do have hounds, and at night you can hear the owls and foxes, but all country noises that didn't bother us at all. We (toddler and dog) enjoyed the serenity, picking dandelions, searching for bugs, looking at the horses, and watching the property come back to life during spring. We had the entire site to ourselves, Beth made sure to check-in periodically to make sure we were ok and to inform us of any guests that would be staying at their Air BnB and her husband would come take our trash away, it's a sanctuary for sure.

Fantastic hosts Beth & Jake have a diamond in the rough here. They are fantastic hosts that provide privacy and very helpful knowledge of local points of interest and much needed supply chains. The bottom half of the 5 acres is great for the summer months as the sun sets behind the house and trees. The upper half where the electric and water are located are ideal in cooler months. I will definitely be staying there again. TYVM Beth & Jake
