This camp is a very quiet rural location (45 minutes to Lewes and Cape May Ferry) and has a great list of amenities. The camp hosts are welcoming and very helpful. Shout-out to Dave for assisting us on arrival. The animals are cool and mostly friendly. The pool looked nice as did the meadery- didn't have time to try these. The nature walk was really nice and easy to follow. Now to the sites themselves - if you're looking at a full hook-up site, you will need to bring plenty of waste line and water line as the utility layout is challenging. Our recommendation is to call ahead and ask about site layout. Upon departure we ended up dumping our full grey and black tanks at Killen Pond State Park about 9 miles away. For those with 30-Amp rigs, do have a 50-amp converter in your electric box for flexibility in site selection. Overall, a nice long weekend stay with friendly hosts.

We loved the island and La Mar was an amazing host. 5 of us spent a weekend on the island. If you have no experience canoeing, be prepared. Being from NYC, we are inexperienced and it took us an hour to row the mile to the island against the tide. if you can get your own power boat to take you there, it will make life a whole lot easier. definitely a challenge, but it was amazing once we made it. The island is relaxing for a weekend. You also get to do some fishing, though we didn't have much luck in October. also - low tide is really low tide. don't plan on going out until the tide comes in a bit. I would recommend taking lots of firewood and a portable toilet.
I can't say enough about how communicative and accommodating La Mar is. We're already talking about our next trip.

As a quick getaway we booked La Mar’s island. It’s pretty well kept and has a large campfire area overlooking the water. Easy fishing from the island as long as it’s not low tide. Lots of space to camp with multiple tents if desired. You’re able to watch bald eagles and other wildlife, we even saw an otter. The only downfall is you can hear the highway all night long. I would definitely book again for a quick getaway!

Shawne's was and Keith were Great I enjoyed my stay. I couldn't dream a better site. I WILL LET MY CAMPING FRIENDS know about their Oais.

It was a wonderful experience. We went there to spend the weekend and we absolutely loved it. The island was very well maintained and had enough privacy. Even though we could hear the highway noise it didnt bother us much. And being a bird watcher myself, i was overjoyed by seeing the wildlife around this area including ospreys and bald eagles.We spent entire day fishing in kayak and photographing birds. And LaMar was awesome host and was very responsive. He went above and beyond to help us with the trip. Would love to come back !

This is a one of a kind site, situated on a point with 180 degree water views of the Wye River. We spent our mornings watching the Watermen working their crab lines while the sun rose over the water. Our evenings consisted of watching the fish break the water as the sun went down across the river, watching the dogs swim and then drinks by the fire pit. It was private, quiet, serene and perfect. So many people on these sites say “we’ll be back!” yet rarely do. We’re already planning our next weekend at the same spot.

This was a beautiful site, private, host was able to provide wood for a reasonable fee. They also checked in after one night to make sure all was ok. We will definitely return with a boat in hopes to catch some Wye River Crabs! We are only 30 minutes away which is another advantage for us.

An absolutely wonderful stay. It was private and relaxing. If you’re a bird watcher, this is the place for you. We saw eagles, osprey, blue and white herons, and several other types of birds. Our three dogs loved running free and being able to swim around. The shower was a luxury we didn’t know we needed. LaMar shared some history behind the island with us and was a pleasure to talk to. We’ll be back.

We absolutely loved this campground. Easy access, quiet, lots of beautiful animals to see. There’s a nice walking trail, indoor heated pool, dog park, putput course & Meadery. We were greeted upon arrival & he ensured we got all set up. Would highly recommend & will come back when we’re visiting Delaware again. Thank you! (We have a 30 ft motorhome & 18 ft trailer, no issues maneuvering)

We loved our stay at Adventures Await! A lovely property with friendly people. The shop had a great selection of mead and wines, fresh eggs, etc. the pool was nice and clean and there’s a great little nature trail. The hosts were kind enough to extend our stay when we missed our first night due to truck trouble. Definitely would come back!

Chris, Debbie, and Dave are wonderful hosts!
We were able to arrive on a Sunday and the check-in was as easy as 1 2 3! Dave drove us to our site, which was very spacious, clean, and leveled!
We loved hiking the trail on the property, exploring the pond, and bonding with the animals. We also bought some delicious mead (Pineapple, Watermelon, Elderberry Blackberry Sweet, and Elderberry Blackberry Oak Aged Sweet).
We can't wait to be back!!!

We absolutely loved RV camping here! The land was beautiful, and waking up to the sound of the water each morning was so peaceful. The hosts were incredibly accommodating. We booked for 2 nights but my boys were having such a good time that they wanted to stay another night, and we did just that. I highly recommend this site!

1 night at Blackwater Tiny Cabin on Snakehead
This little house was wonderful! It had everything I needed for my overnight stay and more! What a great way to spend time in the area visiting the many interesting sites and biking around. Lisa had everything set up perfectly and was available to answer any questions I had (like what is your goat’s name? And can I just help myself to these kayaks?). So conveniently located, quiet, and well adorned. This cute house exceeded my expectations!

Weekend Trip to Blackwater Tiny Cabin on Snakehead
The Blackwater Tiny Cabin was just what we needed. Although our stay was just overnight, it was perfect. Made an evening campfire outside and the view was beautiful. Very peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommended. The host was extremely helpful.

We had such a wonderful stay at The Agape! The property is quiet, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. Shawna, the host, was incredibly gracious—she even laid out firewood for us ahead of our arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The site was spotless and easy to settle into.
The sunrises and sunsets here are absolutely stunning, with plenty of serene coastline to explore. It’s the kind of place that naturally invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment. While there is a small shooting range nearby, it was sporadic and didn’t last long—maybe about an hour—and it wasn’t loud enough to disturb the birds or the calm vibe of the property.
I’m already planning to return in the fall—those views will be breathtaking with the foliage. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to unplug and soak in some peace and beauty.
