Easy to find site but definitely have an off road capable vehicle to cross the stream. Low slung sedans won't make it Camp site was clean, flat, and private. Only major criticism is easier access to the Porta John. You need to drive back across the stream to get to it as the sewer pipe cannot be used to walk across. Driving out isn't always a option with tents in the way. My other personal opinion is the fire ring could be bigger. Seemed too small for such a large site

Had a great time tent camping here! The site was the perfect size and nicely situated next to the creek and away from other sites. We had a little trouble finding our way to the site but we were in the dark 😅 had no trouble crossing the river and the area felt very safe. Would recommend!

Hosts were great! Our car got stuck in the mud, and the hosts helped to pull it out. We also ended up needing help to start the fire, and they immediately came over to help. It is a great place to camp, especially if you are a beginner!

Overall, this was a great camping spot — beautiful views and an easy walk to the river. The only downsides were that it could’ve been cleaned up a bit more (some faded signs and a little trash here and there), and our site was closer to the road than expected, so there was some traffic noise. And while not the campground’s fault, there were so many spiders! That said, I’d still be more than likely to come back — no place is perfect, and that’s part of the camping experience!

Hunters Park at Mezza Luna Farm was awesome. We stayed in the T1 site. Plenty of room for multiple tents and cars. There's firewood for sale right by the site, which was very convenient. There was an outdoor sink at the site, which was nice (though in colder months the water is shut off). There's a porta potty that was very clean - maybe the cleanest portapotty I've ever seen. The farm is beautiful with lots of horses to see. You're allowed to go visit them in the stables. There's plenty of paths to walk around the property if you want to go on a hike. Keith came by to visit - very friendly and welcoming. One family in our group had a couple small children. They did fine and loved seeing the horses. Damascus is very close by - easy access to groceries if you need anything. We'll be back again!

Lovely spot with easy access to the site (beware you must have a vehicle with ample clearance for a stream crossing) and river access just over a small hill from the camp area. Note: you cannot see the river from the camp site. And if you are wanting a very quiet experience think again because there is a continuous hum of traffic from Route 15, day and night. There is a nice circular walking path if you want to take a stroll around the fields. For something close to Baltimore it's a good option.

My son’s first time camping and I have been waiting until he was old enough to take him and teach him all I learned at his age. This was amazing! Excellent site, plenty of room, stocked some firewood for us to get started, and just generally an amazing first camp with my boy. Not too far away either, and was just a cool site right by the river. Couldn’t be better and Will never forget this site!

My group of 4 loved Site 5! There was so much space, had its own trail to the creek, and was pretty easy to find. I was surprised that we had to drive through a shallow creek to get there but it wasn’t a problem! We went on a hike in Fredrick Municipal Forest (~25 min away) where there are plenty of trails. We went mid-october and the foliage was scenic. Overall a great trip, a great location, and site! Thank you!

Camping on the meadow at Hawkwood Farm was a delight. The campsite is back far from the road in the midst of fields, but you can drive your car along easy paths up an area very close to the campsite. The design and landscaping of the meadow area is very charming: a large ring area with mown paths and circles within it, and a firepit, picnic table, and some camp chairs in the middle. An extremely quiet and peaceful place. There's also a clean and well-maintained port-a-potty that's about 200 yards away from the campsite. I will likely come back for another stay (and hopefully persuade my girlfriend to join me)

There is no micromanaging at this property. They let you be you and enjoy yourself. I ran out of firewood around 8:30 p.m. and sent a message about two cords which is $20 and he brought it out within 30 minutes.. Awesome property thank you guys so much. I did leave a bag of trash bagged up right there by the fire pit. I'm from out of town just traveling through and didn't know where to put it and I definitely did want to throw it in the woods.

This is a pretty solid spot if you’re looking for something close to Frederick. The spots are well spaced out, every spot was full the night we were there and we barely ever heard anyone else. There’s some road noise from the highway down the river, but it’s not too bad. Really do need ground clearance to drive out to the spots, have to go through a creek and through some ruts in the path initially, but not too bad.

Don't miss our stunning sunsets at the "Red Door," our entrance. Historical towns within 10 miles any direction are reached over rolling countryside. Gettysburg is less than 20 miles. Baltimore is less than an hours ride by open highway. Blue Ridge mountains 18 miles. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard. Additional things to see: Boating in Carroll County Maryland. Local wineries Ski Liberty Carroll is a full service county whatever your needs. We are 10 minutes from the Potomac River, 10 minutes from Opequon Creek, 20 from Antietam Creek and 30 minutes from the Shenandoah River. Harper's Ferry is 30 minutes way and downtown Historic Shepherdstown is just down the road. We are also close to several state parks. - What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ? The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it). - CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees. - SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to. - RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response. -BOOKING - If you are interested in booking and / or availability, go to the HIPCAMP BOOKING CALENDAR and enter the dates you are interested in. for the most up to date accurate info on availability. - Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support!
