Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping sits in the middle of our 50 acre Tree Farm. Campsites sit at the edge of small open fields are are spaced to give you the feeling of having your own space. We currently have two camping sites a Tree House and Camping Tent. The camping-related structures on our property are built with wood harvested from our tree farm and milled on-site. Good Cellular signal. Good access road for your RV. The amazing views include Owl's Head lighthouse and Matinicus island in the very far distance, sunrise over Ragged Mountain and the Camden hills. To the north the Dixmont, and Bangor areas are visible. Watch the sunset to the west over Sennebec pond and Appleton ridge. To the southwest Mt. Washington may be just visible on a clear day. 75 acres of open fields and woodlands to explore at your leisure. Among the hidden gems you might find are the original homestead foundation, a vernal brook, a distant field that is totally secluded and an oak tree with a heart! Deer, wild Turkeys, Hawks, Owls and Bald Eagles are frequent visitors. You may even stumble upon wild raspberries and blackberries, if they're in season. The small town of Union also hosts the Maine Wild Blueberry Festival. The Lobster Festival is nearby in Rockland every August. No other campers are visible from your site - so you get breathtaking beauty all for yourself - and those with you! Note: Part of the land is a working Wild Blueberry farm and as such, on rare occasions, the quiet is interrupted to care for the crop. Should that take place we will credit you with a free day's stay. Note: No Trespassing signs are posted for the farm operation - these Do Not apply to Hipcampers! Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions. There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. Turn your time away into a transformative and healing experience, as you connect more deeply to the natural world. We hope that you will enjoy the experience of Turtle Marsh as much as we do.

Really unique and amazing stay, can't recommend this place enough! Learned about three medicinal mushrooms that grow on the property through the walks with Peter and Willie. Some neat evidence of beaver activity was spotted as well. You can hear barn owls in the evening. If you did get any rain or wind while there it's rather pleasant. Was nice to know if you do need anything the cabin and Peter were a short walk away. I even got Peters book which I can't wait to read!

Weekend Trip to Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping

We went tent camping on Jeff and Cathy's land. Jeff and Cathy were wonderful hosts. I mentioned that it was my wife's birthday gift and they went next level by decorating our picnic area with birthday decorations and a personalized card. They also gave our boys two painted pumpkins to bring home. I didn't know I'd find hospitality at a campground, but Jeff and Cathy delivered. All of the sites offer good privacy so you don't feel like you're stacked on top of another family. The bathhouse is kept super clean. This was our first overnight tent night with our children and it went spectaculary! Thank you Jeff and Cathy. We'll be back.

Beautiful private place with a 360 view of the mountains! Completely impressed by the stone picnic table! The turn is a bit hidden so drive very slowly — we reached the top of the mountain and had to turn around because we went too far. I think the sign is a little hidden within the bushes. Otherwise, such a lovely stay! Would return!

I can’t wait to come back! My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this. The set up was perfect, Jeff and Cathy have gone above and beyond with making sure their guests feel comfortable and enjoy their stay. We stayed in the Owls Nest, it was super cozy. There was a whole outdoor kitchen set up with all the kitchen supplies you need. They supplied fire wood, kindling and fire starter! They had jugs of water, a very nice clean bathroom set up. There is a lot of cute animals around too, we saw a few deer, and a porcupine with its baby! We were so impressed with Jeff and Cathy’s hospitality and can’t wait to come stay in the Owls Nest next season :)

Due to impending weather, we had to change our plans and make a last minute booking. The site was perfect for us. The property is beautiful with a network of small trails crisscrossing it. The site is peaceful and private, and even during a significant downpour we were able to stay dry in the canvas bell tent. Peter is everything you could want in a host. He went out of way to be helpful, he's friendly, genuine, and responsive to communication, while still respecting his guests space and privacy. Plus his dog is the best! We would highly recommend staying here.

This is our most beloved spot. We love it because of its spectacular view over Maine and the absolute privacy! We have been coming for years and were never disappointed by the place or the host. Rod has always been very forthcoming, helpful and reliable. This time he even gave us a tour to the second spot that he plans to open up next year: another spot with all the privacy you could wish for and an amazing view. If you are looking for a spot that gives you beauty and privacy but also the closeness to Camden and Rockport for getting some hustle and bustle in summer in Maine, you are at the perfect place. We are looking forward to come back again. And we are planning to do that in October. With a camper, it doesn't matter when it gets a little cold at night, because the view is always amazing no matter the season.

Jeff & Cathy are kind and lovely hosts. Their campground is wonderful. It has everything you could want and need at a campground. It was awesome to catch up, hike, and cook with one of my childhood friends in rural Maine without having to worry about setting up camp. I’ll take staying at this campsite over staying at a hotel/motel or a large campground. I’ll definitely be back.

I have nothing but good things to say about our experience here! It was a particularly hot week when we went and Cathy was gracious enough to come each day and swap our rechargeable fans with hers so we could stay cool. Jeff & Cathy made us feel incredibly safe + welcomed and gave great recommendations for places in the area. Aside from amazing hosts the campground itself was beautiful, well maintained, and serene. The hard work and love they have put into this place does not go unnoticed. The bathrooms and sink station were the nicest I’ve seen at a campground before and decorated so cutely! Overall a beautiful place I would recommend to anybody and would love to go back :)
