It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others.
My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable.
There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes.
The kitchenette has a small fridge a toaster oven a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils plates and bowls and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside.
There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping (glorified camping) adventure. I provide fire some wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $8 per bundle.
The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is seasonal running hot and cold water (May through October) for the outdoor sink which is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. Also an outdoor shower is available for use May through October and biodegradable soaps and shampoo are provided. I provide gallons of drinking water and dishwashing water for the colder months inside the yurt with dish tubs sponges and soap.

Field is surrounded mostly by forrest, only non-drinking water provided from the garden hose at the entrance to the field. Water is shut off late October through the winter but the site is available. Whatever you bring in, you take out; garbage, human waste, etc. There is a camp fire with benches, plenty of fire wood and a luggable loo if needed.

Megquier place as they used to call it. Built in 1775, Megquier farm was the first homestead in the town of New Gloucester. The house here is supposedly the oldest in New Gloucester. Situated on originally 60 now 30 acres of woodland, with trails of all sorts that weave through the property which is surrounded by mostly farmland and wooded terrain.
The Megquier family who built the house had relations with local indigenous people trading cider from their orchard. They also were known to be rebellious towards English rule at the time and were involved in the local militia leading to the revolutionary war against English rule. Proof of which lies in some historic photos of family members dressed in militia uniform right in front of my house way back when. Furthermore, construction of the house itself violated the kings rule that no tree over two feet in diameter marked by the kings agents was to be harvested. However, the roof sheathing in the house are two feet wide at least. Interesting to review the history of mast landing in Freeport Maine, just a few miles away.
More recent undocumented history of this property is just as interesting. I’m told that during the Vietnam war period, many people resided here in commune to resist the draft for that illegal war. They camped along what was once a pond here on a sunny hillside with towering Hemlock trees. Proof of which lies just under the ground such as old beer bottle and cans from that time as well as the rusted front end of an old International Harvester bus similar the one Ken Keasey and the merry pranksters drove around the US with. Pretty cool.
I’m told that this place has a cool vibe to it, in the house and around the property. Hopefully I’m keeping that intact. After 7 years here I’ve created a network of trails for biking, skiing and exploring. I’ve carved out a nice high and dry hilltop camp with two 12’x12’ platforms and a composting outhouse. It’s situated on the most isolated area of the property. It’s quiet, private and gets great afternoon/evening light. Totally chill place to isolate. And mountain bike.
There are approximately 7 kilometers of private bike trails to explore and more always being created. Very close to other local biking trial networks via some road sections or a quick shuttle to other trailheads.
Also there’s a decent little sandy swimming hole a mile down the road.

Great bike trails. Wooded dry hilltop campsite with privacy and seclusion. I’ve constructed two 12’x12’ platforms at the top of the hill along with a custom built composting outhouse and huge stone fire pit. Bike down your choice of trails into my network right from the site. Park your vehicle in the field near the trailhead and hike in to the camp or bring your four wheel drive vehicle right to the site. Utility cart available. I will provide all the wood you need for a campfire. As well as a water source located at the field. Approximately 7 kilometers of trail and counting. Bring your dog so long as it is behaved. You’ll be able to bike directly from here all the way to Bradbury Mountain state park and back (about 3-4 hrs) or easily drive to multiple trail networks. Pineland Farms located 1 mile away. 15 minutes to Bradbury Mountain state park. 20 minutes to Freeport Maine and LL Bean. 30 minute drive to downtown Portland. 10 minute drive to the nearest store. You’ll be all by yourself out there but close enough to hear the road nearby. You may see people riding a bike down on the main trail but you’ll be all set on top of the camp hill. I’ve created this one awesome refined site. There’s a lot of room here and plenty of spots for primitive camping. Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions.

The land borders a lush greenway and a rare wetland ecosystem called a fen. Expect visits from chipmunks, wild turkeys, raccoons, possums, porcupines, and possibly a sharp-shinned hawk overhead or a deer wandering through. With dry leaves on the ground, even small critters can sound surprisingly big, adding to the wild charm of the place.
Though the campsite is set back on the property, you may still hear some road noise from Route 125. You’ll catch only a glimpse of one neighbor’s home through the trees (their generator runs for about an hour on Sunday afternoons).

There are walking and horseback riding trails through the woods. Guests here can learn about raising and caring for sheep and horses. We have a small organic farm that raises vegetables and flowers for our farmstand. We also have horses. The herd is looked after by 2 Border Collies. It is an idealic rural farm setting. Very easy to navigate on/off Rt 95 if traveling north or south. 3-4 miles out of your way. Dogs are welcome if kept on leash. There is a large totally enclosed area where they can run with you monitoring.

Leah’s spot is in a great location near Freeport but also far enough away so that it is a quiet and almost isolated spot but isn’t. Plenty of room for a family or in my case just me to spread out and not be too close to Leah and her family. It’s a comfortable just you kind of camp spot.

I feel so fortunate to revisit this magical place in Maine. Last year I stayed in the bus and this year I was able to experience the wonder that is the new wagon, although wagon hardly describes it.
I felt like a pampered gypsy— connected to nature around me, and disconnect disconnected from my worries. Every detail was perfect from the sheets to the bed to the shower and the sound of the birds all around.
I was able to journal, hike, eat a delicious meal and shop in Cornish, get a deep sleep and return to Portland all in an overnight. Just wish I had more time.
If you want to experience Maine – – real Maine — then take advantage of this remarkable host and spot. I really can’t recommend it enough.

We loved the dancing lawn the minute we checked in! An outdoor shower with hot water is absolutely amazing for camping 🏕 we had relaxing nights by the fire after long days full of activities. I'd definitely recommend especially for girls getaway. We felt safe since it was closer to the houses nearby but private enough to feel secluded from the hosts and neighbors

A one word review would truly represent The Queens Property on Thomas Pond; IDEAL! Daniel, the host, was extremely accommodating to our last minute getaway. The site is perfectly laid out for RV ease and convenience. The trails to the pond and dock made our dogs so happy and they thoroughly tuckered out swimming. We will be returning without a doubt. Once again Dan, Thank you creating such a beautiful RV and camping sanctuary!

This place is a hidden gem! Quiet and tucked into the woods but easy to drive up to. Once inside you can see how much love was put into making this place - nothing is cookie cutter, everything is custom made to make this space feel Ike your own little hideaway. The outdoor kitchen is right out the door on the covered porch - complete with Yeti cooler and gas for the grill- I cooked up fresh asparagus and steak, made myself a little fire outside and had the most amazing meal. At night the whole place is warmly lit with twinkle lights and cozy bed. Even the compost toilet is brand new, spotless and set back in its own little spot. (No odor at all!). Shower area out back is also clean and new but I didn’t get the opportunity to try it out.
This place is perfect for a little romantic get away or a solo retreat to get some writing done. Huge value for the price - just the outdoor fire pit and spot is worth it but instead of having to pitch a tent you get your own little cozy wagon to sleep in.

My friends and I had a lovely, peaceful weekend staying at Sandi and Brandon’s property! The tent was roomy and equipped with everything we could have needed. We had some chilly and wet weather, but we stayed dry and cozy in the tent with the wood stove going. We loved watching the horses graze in the pasture in the evening and getting a tour of the barn. We also enjoyed walking the trails on the property. They were very welcoming hosts, but we also had a lot of privacy, and we would not hesitate to visit again!
