This homestead operates solely on solar power and is completely off-grid, featuring chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. Guests can savor fresh eggs, as well as vegetables from the greenhouse and garden, which they are welcome to pick themselves. Additionally, there is a natural spring-fed pond spanning 2 acres, where guests can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, rowing, and pedal boating with all equipment, including paddles and life jackets, provided on site.
All sites are within walking distance of a very clean restroom, which is equipped with a flush toilet, a sink with running water, and a solar-powered light that turns on automatically. Additionally, there is an ample supply of toilet tissue and paper towels, and it also smells good too!

Each tent site features a fire pit and a picnic table. Guests can take pleasure in the hiking trails or venture into the woods to discover the natural beauty of this 25-acre homestead.

Ellie's RV Spot is a single RV site designed for use by any length Class A thru C motorized or towable style recreational vehicles including conversion vans/off grid vehicles. 50 or 30 amp electric, water, sewer and screaming fast wifi are included.
All RV's including off grid and pop-ups must set up on GRAVEL PAD only. This is to prevent damage to the private septic system. Your camper RV, off grid van or pop up MUST have an on board toilet, composting or otherwise, no exceptions. **Tenting is not an option on this site, sorry.** The RV's pictured belong to past guests and are not available for rent.
A sister cabin shares the half acre site and is separated by a 16 foot long 9 foot high fence. This cabin is booked up 95 percent for the season.
Ellie's location allows easy access to both the Mount Desert Island section of Acadia and the Schoodic Peninsula section.
Well behaved dogs/pets are allowed on the site for $7 per pet per night. If you would like to bring a pet, please add a pet fee which is listed as an extra during the booking process. All pets on site must be leashed at all times, no exceptions.
Campfires are allowed on this site when winds are under 10 mph. Check local weather first. We continue to provide free, locally grown, organic firewood in order to combat inflation and help you stretch your vacation dollar.
While Ellie's doesn't have direct water access, there are many shoreline points of access close by. Beaches and water access are everywhere. Wide open space does exist. Come explore the Maine coast.
Commuter traffic can be seen and heard from Ellie's RV spot. State route 204 funnels park visitors to Acadia and the MDI area. In 2024 nearly 4 million people visited the Acadia area. Slow down, plan ahead and be patient.
2025 update: You can purchase your park pass online and print it before you arrive. Reservations for Cadillac Mountain are now required due to overcrowding.
We have one security camera located on the main fence. This is for your protection as well as ours.
For winter stays please send a request before booking. We have 30 or 50 amp electric and sewer only from Nov 1 ~ April 30. Water, wifi and trash removal are suspended for the winter. Snow might prevent access during some weeks. Request first!

The land our farm is on has been in my family for generations. It was originally part of my Great Grand Fathers dairy farm. We took over this section of the land to create our own farm several years ago. We raise beef, pork, chicken, and goats to sell. We also have several horses on the farm. The camping spot has been used by our family for years hosting “back forty” parties and weekend getaways. The pond was dug by my grandfather over 40 years ago for irrigation. It is no longer used for that and has become a wonderful frog pond that is stocked with trout. Over the last few years, we upgraded the camping area with a shed, outhouse, fire pit and granite bench, and a bean hole bean pit. The shed is used for firewood storage and other camp items. We have direct access to the ATV/Multi use trail system that can take you all over Central Maine. We have mowed waking trails around the property and acres of woods to explore.

My husband and I were visiting Acadia and spent the night at the rabbit run spot. There was firewood and water set out for us and we were given clear instructions on how to get there. Best of all: a bathroom with a toilet and running water!! You’ll be greeted in the morning by chickens, ducks, and their dog Sadie if you’re lucky. If we’re ever back in the area we’ll 100% be staying here again. Thank you Mike and Cheryl!

By far, this was the most pleasant Hipcamp experience I’ve had. Every site at this homestead is nice, well-maintained and easily accessed. The host, Mike, was truly amazing as he went above and beyond to help us out! Upon our arrival, we realized we had some vehicle issues. Mike was more than willing to help accommodate us while we fixed the issue.
What could have been a terrible situation was made better by the fact that we had stayed at this location.
We would 100% recommend booking any site at the True Serendipity Homestead! You get a quiet, beautiful view and you’re helping a true homesteader!

Amazing spot! This was one of our best Hipcamp experiences. Quiet, private spot with amazing sunrise views. Cory was very communicative and gave great directions. The site is located back from the road and working farm so you feel remote. There are tons of amenities in the area, and it was a great place to explore Moosehead and the Belgrade areas. We can’t wait to return.

Best campsite we've ever been too, full stop. The hosts are extremely hospitable and the homestead is unbelievably wholesome. It was also amazing to learn about blacksmithing with Mike and to have a tour of the garden with Cheryl (cheers for the tomatoes!). The location - close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park - made it even better. We really wished we could have stayed longer, and will for sure be back someday soon. Thank you Mike and Cheryl!

Stayed at duck hill sight with my girlfriend and son. The sights are all awesome. Well taken care of, nice fire area and you get a free bundle of wood with your sight and additional bundles were only $5 each so you get a lot of wood for your fire. Mike and Cheryl were very responsive to messages and very accommodating. We did a blacksmith workshop where we made a feather coat hook and it was an incredible experience. Mike was very patient and an awesome blacksmith teacher.

This was the perfect spot to book for a trip to Acadia! Mike and Cheryl are the loveliest couple, and were incredibly welcoming. Upon arriving, Mike came down to my site and introduced himself, and gave me a run-down of where all the amenities were located around the property. Not much later I met Cheryl, and she was very excited to show me how to hold the baby chicks. I loved it! Everything about this property left me feeling inspired and relaxed.
Duck Hill in particular felt private, and I had no issues with other neighbors (who I hardly saw anyway). You get a great lake view, lots of sun AND shade, and it’s close to the restroom. It’s also close by to where the animals stay, which is fun to watch them!
Plus, the property location is great. You are nearby the local chain shops if you need something last minute (Walmart, Home Depot, Gas stations, etc), but it is still a very quiet, secluded area away from the main roads. Being only 35-60 minutes from the best spots in Acadia was also a huge plus and made getting around very easy. I would highly recommend True Serendipity Homestead for solo travelers like myself or for couples and families! I can’t wait to come back again!

This was my 2nd time coming to this site, and the third and 4th site that I have stayed at. I love it here. I drive for over 8 hours to come up here but it’s very worth it. So beautiful and peaceful. I also don’t believe you will find better host. I also tend to find really great people stay here too!

I don't know where to start or end, so before I ramble I'll say, every aspect of this place is paradise, and, as aptly named, true serendipity.
Picture: impromptu roadtrip to Acadia. You're close, it's getting dark, you need a place to sleep that's cheap for how close it is to the park. Check all the sites, everything is wildly expensive and/or way too far. Then you see True Serendipity Homestead. It checks all the boxes-- a few dollars more than some other spots, but clearly worth it. Well ranked, just what you need. Something about fresh eggs. You book it and book it. You get in after dark, set up and go to sleep. Next thing you consciously experience is the roosters crowing outside your tent. You get up, feed them and the other birds some bread. Mike comes by to welcome you and have a chat. You venture in the light-- STUNNING. Tasteful. Beautifully etched into the natural land, with so many amenities you'll spend a week without discovering them all, this place is a nexus of good people, grounding nature, peaceful serenity, and rejuvenation. Some days I didn't even go to the park! Be sure to take a boat out, walk the pond loop trail, make neighborly friends, feed the chickens, check out Mike's workshop, grab fresh eggs and veggies for your meal, or just lay back and chill. Stars at night by the pond were the best I've ever seen.
Mike and Cheryl are lovely & kind and so cool, and they built the entire thing themselves! Mind-boggling.
I'll be back-- see you there!!
