Camping near Limestone

Limestone may be a small town on the border of Maine and New Brunswick, Canada but it’s ripe for the picking when it comes to nearby camping. Aroostook State Park, 30 minutes south, welcomes tents and RVs and offers amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, pit toilets, water taps, and hot showers. After a good night’s rest, head to Echo Lake to paddle board or cast fishing lines, or summit Quaggy Jo Mountain for views of the rolling hills and wildlife sightings of grazing deer and soaring eagles. Head 45 minutes north to the shores of Mud Lake, which, unlike its name suggests, offers crisp, clear waters to fish, swim, and boat. The lake is part of the Fish River Chain, which means campers have direct access to four more lakes. Rent a cabin here for extra privacy, or settle into a tent or RV site with full hookups, restrooms, hot showers, and laundry facilities.
