Welcome to Jemtland, Fireside Chats Retreat's first location! This secluded nature retreat of river and forest in the Swedish Colony of Northern Maine is truly majestic. Come tent out under the stars and amidst the fresh air to get away from it all. Most of Maine's quintessential critters can be spotted here, from chickadees to moose. Take advantage of our riverfront for all your favourite water activities (swimming, fishing, kayak, etc). Aside from the historic Nordic roots of Jämtland, Sweden, discover the French-Acadian region of Maine and neighboring provinces of Canada. From just 30 minutes away there's quaint Grand Falls, home of Secretariat's main jockey, or Edmundston, a vibrant city with a popular casino!FCR's Jemtland site is a private camping retreat for couples or medium groups. In this cul-de-sac surrounded by coniferous canopy, the tenting spots encircle the firepit. Guests have access to communal composting toilets and showering stalls. The rest of the property extends south of this point. The beaver ponds and river are a short walk from the main campsite. Hammocks and kayaks are available for guest use.

Jemtland
Great communication. Visitors will need a vehicle with clearance to access the site. Site was clean with water, privy, and lodge. Will have to bushwhack to reach the river. Large beaver pond below the site had excellent birding. Was convenient location to reach New Sweden and Caribou. Was a welcome respite from the rain. Owner had a power station to charge phones. No cell service at the site but nice spot to have a fire and relax.
