So gravel pit is being mined for materials to maintain whole gravel section of Egypt lane (private road.) It’s 2 miles of gravel road . Then it will be reclaimed also . The pit is not to be explored . Also is not part of the campsites that are booked . There is plenty of flat land to stay safe In the meanwhile . there are sites that are semi complete wooded partly . Until they grow back . Your booking $ helps fund all of these projects that I do . Plenty of acres to explore quiet and peaceful. . Egypt stream flows around half the property .Gated for your security. A lot of nature . Wild life present. please leash your pets there’s porcupines around ! . Peaceful and Quiet! Close to a few parks and Acadia national park. Lemoine state park is very close . Bar harbor also . Campfires are ok no bonfires tho. This is a residential 7 acre property in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We are right off the main road for easy access about 15-20 minutes south of Bangor. It is very peaceful and calm here. We live in the 5 bedroom older farmhouse where you can use the bathroom if needed. You will receive a code for the electronic door lock. There is a small stream and community fireplace by the 4 campsites and another fireplace closer to the garden. The designated campsites are at the rear of the property and are first come, first serve. A tent can be set up anywhere on the 7 acres and does not need to be in the designated campsite area. We have easily acomodated 20+ canpers at once (6-8 groups), though typically you might be the only group here. Car camping, van life, and RVs are welcome! There are some lightly wooded areas, apple trees, a pear tree, and an open field. We are pet friendly and there animals that live here that won't bother you. I also travel a lot as a DJ and audio tech and might not be here, but have a self check in process and video I will send. Roommates are generally here. Maine Savings Amphitheatre is 15 min away (concerts in Bangor). Acadia National Park is just over 1 hour away. Bangor and Bucksport are both about 15 min away. Fort Knox is about 20 min away. From the campsites, the road and house are not visible. We have flowers when in season, deer, turkey, birds, and friendly creatures that visit. Please be ready to be self sufficient and sustainable in any weather. Well water is available at the RV posts and passes all tests - pure and safe for drinking. RV parking may need to be arranged with myself. For RVs, Electric hook up is 30amp and an extra $10/day. Water hook up is $5/fill. Chopped, split, and dried wood (pine) is available included in your Hipcamp fee! You can burn what you need for the day/night. Thank you. Big Moose Inn Cabins & CampgroundIrving O. Hunt and his brother Lyman built some rough camps on Millinocket Lake before they became interested in the Nesowadnehunk Stream region. Whether or not their old camps were at the same site as the present camps on Millinocket Lake we do not know.The Millinocket Lake Camps, known today as Big Moose Inn, are located on a narrow spit of land separating Ambejejus Lake and Millinocket Lake. Before a dam controlled Ambajejus’ water level, it was possible to pole up the short stream from Millinocket Lake into Ambejejus.Fred Spencer build the camps, originally named Camp Eureka, in 1899 or 1900 and ran them with his brother. With the founding of Millinocket only a few years earlier and lumbering roads nearing Katahdin, the two lakes became more easily accessible. Camp Eureka was advertised as the only camp reachable by both boat (from Norcross) and road (from Millinocket). In 1905, the rate was $1.50 per day, meals included. Spencer also claimed the lakes had no flies or mosquitoes during spring and summer- a phenomenon caused by the way winds blow across the lakes, which makes it difficult for insects to gain a foothold.The camps’ name changed to Camp Spencer and later to Spencer’s Camps. Around 1929 the lease was transferred to Elmer Woodworth, who lived with his wife on a nearby island while they operated the camps. Elmer, a well-known guide, trapped over the winter, and his wife served as the camp cook. The couple soon renamed the camps Millinocket Lake Camps and Trading Post. They also maintained an outlying camp on Sandy Stream for their guests. In 1941, a major fire broke out in the area. The Woodworths saved the camps by wetting them down, but lost their island home when a stray spark jumped the cove. There is some evidence that, for a short time, a gentleman named Johnny Given either held the lease or managed the camps for the Woodworths. Except for that brief change the Woodworths operated the camps for many years until they passed the lease on to their son Ray, who ran them with his wife Muriel.In 1977, the lease was transferred to Bob and Frederica (“Teddy”) Boynton, who in 1981 sold the trading post to Erwin and Maureen Bacon. The Boyntons retained the sporting camp operation and later added a public restaurant. Teddy renamed the camps Big Moose Inn. Bob and his son Bruce made many renovations to the camps, while Teddy decorated and furnished them. The Boynton Family has remained involved in the success of the inn and restaurant. After Teddy’s death in 1991, management passed to Bruce and his sister Laurie, but Bob and other family members are still very involved.The dam separates the flowages of the two lakes. Millinocket Lake is about eight feet above its original level, and Ambajejus is now some 21 feet above its original level. Evan is a very gracious host for sharing his space. My stay here was perfect. I slept in my tent near the apple tree with the large green apples and the deer were right outside my tent all night and everytime an apple hit the ground they would grunt and prance in excitement and I could hear them crunching down on the apples all night. It was cool to experience.

A very simple but perfect spot! Communications were great. Directions were perfect. And we slept like babies!

2 nights at Feild View Paradise Campground

The site itself is right by the road, that seems to be used fairly regularly. The outhouse is pretty good, kept clean. It gets the job done when you need it, haha. There was a little bit of grass to walk our dog, though if we went into the semi wooded area we got multiple ticks on us (I know it was definitely season for them though), so we tried not to do that. The site was level, though the power and grey water disposal were a little confusing to figure out. William was definitely nice and helpful in getting them figured out. We had a lot of errands in the area, so it was a great place to park and sleep, but that’s about what I’d recommend it for, personally. It was very quick and easy access into Bangor.

Beautiful and well-taken care site! This site was one of the best campsite I have visited. The pups enjoyed dipping by the river. Would love to come back soon. Thank you so much Kyle!

Weekend Trip to Piscataquis Point

Perfect place for couples, families, or friends to come together in a quiet and private camp on beautiful river spot. The fire pit with cook top were amazing and wood provided was more than enough for the cool October nights and mornings. The camp is impeccable kept up, the bathroom is cleanest and neatest we have seen yet and we even got a magnet. Very thoughtful! Kyle’s metal work and brothers engraving can be seen throughout the campground giving it the touches it needs to set it above the rest. We booked our next visit on our ride home. We cannot wait to return to watch the eagles frolic and looking to catch their next meal in the river. Kyle is very responsive to messages and directions were easy to follow.

This place had it all! I loved being next to the river. It was quiet and peaceful. The campsite was private. The host gave us space so we could really get away from it all. The campsite was also very clean and felt safe. We absolutely loved it!

Weekend Trip to Lilac Firefly

Evan is incredibly welcoming, friendly and accommodating. His communication is second to none! He even took the time to make videos to show you exactly where to go on the property. I had a great time car camping here and would definitely come back again if I'm in the area.. it worked out perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of parents weekend at the University of Maine. It's also close to Acadia national Park which is great. Definitely recommend!

Weekend Trip to Howling Goat Farm and Grange

A rendezvous with the cosmos was the theme this year. We ran, dashed, sacrificed and stressed to make eyes for Cygnus across celestial clouds ISS flyovers and planets penetrating the atmosphere. Ursas major and minor foraged amongst the fireflies while we all shifted from Pisces to Aquarius over and over again. The fowl are a feature, the ruminations left to the cloven and the swine a smile every time. A fair time was not had in any sense this time. Our budget denied us Common Ground, but our accommodations were AAA. After a day in Stephen King country, I’ll leave the speculation of what beast was snorting in the field the following morning to you.

Weekend Trip to Flatrock on the River

Claude has a slice of paradise!! This was our second visit and we hope for many more. We stayed at Toddy this trip, and it did not disappoint. Picturesque nook on a riverbend with a fire pit and cooking grate, complete with fully stocked firewood. Picnic table, tiki torches….just a hint of glamping. Bathroom facility is clean and pleasant to use. Cheers, Claude!! We love everything about Flatrock and will be back in 2026!
