The cabin is secluded within a hundred-acre forest, set on a point of land surrounded by the pond’s still waters. It’s just a paddle, ski, or swim away from the 1,000-acre Hidden Valley Nature Center, which offers miles of trails to explore, and only a short drive to local villages for food, shopping, and sightseeing.
The Space
Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature at this unique and private post-and-beam cabin. This bright, open, off-grid, recently built cabin features two beds: one queen on the main floor and one double in the loft. (There is also a couch and additional floor space for sleeping, and tents may be set up outside.)
The cabin includes a well-equipped galley kitchen with a hand pump, gas stove/oven, and refrigerator. Water is pumped from the pond—drinking water must be brought in.
There is an on-site outhouse located in the cabin marked with the “CANOES” sign, as well as an outdoor solar shower.
The cabin is equipped with two propane heaters, solar lighting, and internet. Guests also have access to two kayaks, two canoes, and one water bike , along with PFDs. The property and pond are very private, with a focus on rest, relaxation, recreation, and recharge. The pond has no public access and does not allow motorized boats. A private dock is available.
Damariscotta is nearby for provisions, restaurants, shops, and an old-fashioned movie theater.
Nearby Attractions
Other places of interest include Pemaquid Lighthouse, Pemaquid Beach and Fort, Wiscasset shops and restaurants, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, and Sheepscot General Store. An hour’s drive north takes you to Camden or Rockland for hiking, sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, the Farnsworth Art Museum, and the Strand Theatre.
