Recharge your batteries at a cozy cabin on Little Dyer Pond in Jefferson, Maine. This is an excellent location to paddle, swim, fish, write, cross-country ski, birdwatch, observe wildlife, stargaze, meditate, or simply relax in a magical setting. The cabin is secluded within a hundred-acre forest, set on a point of land surrounded by the pond’s still waters. It’s just a paddle, ski, or swim away from the 1,000-acre Hidden Valley Nature Center, which offers miles of trails to explore, and only a short drive to local villages for food, shopping, and sightseeing. The Space Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature at this unique and private post-and-beam cabin. This bright, open, off-grid, recently built cabin features two beds: one queen on the main floor and one double in the loft. (There is also a couch and additional floor space for sleeping, and tents may be set up outside.) The cabin includes a well-equipped galley kitchen with a hand pump, gas stove/oven, and refrigerator. Water is pumped from the pond—drinking water must be brought in. There is an on-site outhouse located in the cabin marked with the “CANOES” sign, as well as an outdoor solar shower. The cabin is equipped with two propane heaters, solar lighting, and internet. Guests also have access to two kayaks, two canoes, and one water bike (pictured), along with PFDs. The property and pond are very private, with a focus on rest, relaxation, recreation, and recharge. The pond has no public access and does not allow motorized boats. A private dock is available. Damariscotta is nearby for provisions, restaurants, shops, and an old-fashioned movie theater. Nearby Attractions Other places of interest include Pemaquid Lighthouse, Pemaquid Beach and Fort, Wiscasset shops and restaurants, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, and Sheepscot General Store. An hour’s drive north takes you to Camden or Rockland for hiking, sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, the Farnsworth Art Museum, and the Strand Theatre. House Rules • No smoking in the cabin • No motorized boats on the pond • No pets Sheets, pillows, and blankets are provided. Please bring your own towels. There is a private dock, 2 kayaks, 2 canoes, PFDs and 1 water bike (pictured). The property and pond are very private with the themes of rest, relax, recreate, and recharge. Once on the driveway, in 1/4 miles, turn left at the green shed. Then follow flagging when in doubt. Total gravel driveway is 0.9 miles. The combination to the gate at the start of the driveway will be sent. Please lock the gate when leaving the property. Other entry details will be sent a few days before you arrive Damariscotta is near by for provisions, restaurants, shops, and an old fashioned movie theater. Other places of interest are the Pemaquid Light House, New Harbor beach, and fort, Wiscasset shops, and restaurants, Boothbay Botanical Gardens, shops and restaurants. A day trip north takes you to Camden, or Rockland for hiking, sight seeing, shops, restaurants, the Farnsworth art museum, and the Strand Theater. BRING YOUR OWN DRINKING WATER.
