This is a truly magical camping location. It’s a very safe and secure area with multiple options of different glamp sites as well as traditional camping. The experience surpassed any ideas of expectations I could’ve even imagined. I highly recommend Barren River Magic.

Weekend Trip to Misty Bottoms

I really like the set-up of this place! The camp site is nice and level with direct access to the river. It was quiet and peaceful during my stay. Tena had great communication prior to my visit, and showed us where everything was located upon arrival. I hope to visit again later in summer and paddle on one of my favorite rivers in all of Kentucky.

This place was truly magical right out of a fairytale with beautiful rolling hills, cute wildlife, beautiful artistic buildings, the sounds of birds and a gentle rolling river. It was April so I thought it would be too cold to play in the river but it was not. The river was refreshing and the water was crystal clear. There were beautiful butterflies down by the river. The host 2D was amazing as well. He's such a sweet person. It wasn't busy and there were some storms coming in so he upgraded us to one of the lean to cabins. He was the type of man who would probably be everyone's "pappy". I loved seeing and hearing about some of the projects they were working on to grow Barren River Magic. It really is a place to get away from everything. All we heard was birds and the host driving his tractor around occasionally. I went here with my kids and our little dog because I'm going to one of the summer festivals there so I wanted to get to know the area while it was nice and slow so it won't be so overwhelming on the big event. My children are homeschoolers so this was a great little science and artistic field trip for a couple days for them. I highly recommend this place to go and "get away from it all" for a few days. The off grid setup is so interesting. There is art everywhere and the use of recycled materials that I would have never thought of. Some things I recommend is bring toilet paper, bring a way to wash up, and leave the kids tablets at home. It's so nice here!

Totum was a relaxing property maybe 150 feet away from a creek that was super relaxing to listen to all night. The campsite as a whole is super eccentric while still remaining cozy. 10/10

Camp Escape lived up to its name! A fantastic property teeming with nature, yet still right within reach of the city. Shelby is very kind, helpful, and made us feel right at home. Our campsite was just the right size, a personal haven, providing the peace and quiet we were craving.The provided firepit and level land made setting up a breeze - even during a massive downpour! It was exactly the what we needed. If you're looking for a quiet and safe camp experience without roaming too far from Louisville, look no further! We definitely recommend Camp Escape!

6 nights at Misty Bottoms

Our family had a truly memorable week at Misty Bottoms. We brought our camper and stayed on-site, and it turned out to be the perfect spot for a relaxing and fun-filled getaway. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful—wide open fields, a peaceful river nearby, and the most stunning sunrises each morning. Waking up to that view every day felt like a dream. Our kids had a blast exploring the area and playing outdoors. There’s a large pole barn on the property with a clean bathroom that includes a shower, which made our stay even more comfortable and convenient. The barn provided much-needed shade during the hotter parts of the day, and we were pleasantly surprised that it had toys and space for the kids to play while we relaxed. The hosts, Travis and Tina, were incredibly kind, thoughtful, and welcoming. They made us feel at home right away and were always available if we needed anything, yet gave us the space to enjoy our trip. Their warm hospitality really added to the experience. I especially enjoyed taking quiet walks along the river in the mornings—it was peaceful, grounding, and a perfect way to start the day. The whole property was very well-kept, peaceful, and full of natural beauty. We absolutely loved our stay and are already looking forward to coming back. Misty Bottoms is a hidden gem—perfect for families, nature lovers, or anyone looking for a quiet and refreshing escape.

Please refrain from feeding the horses or dogs because it creates a bad habit and folks that don't know how sensitive a horses gut is can possibly kill them. Respect privacy of others and pack out all that you pack in. Shut any gates you come through.please understand that my horses are of all ages and that includes young ones and babies and seniors as well. The young ones like to be nosey and are still learning what they are allowed to do and what not to do. They are naturally curious and love attention. If they think you have snacks , they can act like a pack of kindergarteners with the promise of cupcakes...we don't want that but because some campers think they are the exception and gave them snacks, it is something we have to monitor more closely. Remember they are animals and they will get into anything if it's left unattended. Please be a responsible camper and ensure we all stay safe and enjoy the experience.We have a section for folks to park in if they do not want to be so close to the horses as well. If you don't like horses or dogs please consider alternative camp site. Limited pet allowance...check before booking please. Also, we've had issues with the site and it offering horse time, ride, Q&A etc. for 5$. We've taken steps to fix this. We are the only RV Park in the Louisville area offering all full hookup creek front and concrete pad sites! We also offer over-sized, pull through sites, and a combo of creek front concrete pad, oversized, hill side, and pull through sites. (All rates include tax and electric except our monthly). All sites include water, sewer, dumpster service on lot 62, lawn care and monitored security cameras in beautiful and very safe park. All sites are 50 amp, and we have 50 to 30 amp adapters for sale for a $25 fee. Currently there is limited Wi-Fi available through the park but especially near the office on lot 50, if you need it, ask the Manager to put you near it because we are trying to provide a radiation free area for our Manager and guests. Enjoy the beautiful new landscaping in this Resort like RV Park with twinkly lights that come on throughout the night and we have a beautiful winding creek with creek front sites. The park has paved roads, concrete pads. This is a big rig park that can handle coaches as large as 50 feet. Because we are conveniently located in the greater Louisville metropolitan area, please know there is a nearby train track that comes by a few times a day, but you get use to it, and we are only 8 miles from the Louisville International airport, but there is no freeway noise which can be very loud. We do not have bath or shower houses, or a pool, but we do have laundry facilities on site. There are showers within 2 miles at the Pilot gas station on I-65. We strive to offer excellent customer service, so please feel free to call if you have any issues! We have an on-site Assistant Manager. Annie is located on lot 12a, and you can reach her after you arrive by calling (502) 276-6090, or look for Annie working in the park. For long term RV guests, we require RVs to be 10 years or newer. We do give variances to some Airstream and restored classic RVs with a picture pre-approval by Management plus there is a free application see our website for an application on the banner.
