Terrapin Hill was delightful. Brenda and Pete were wonderful hosts, and the land offered quiet spots and rolling trails. It's close to Shaker Village and lots of other sites.

Weekend Trip to Farm and Forest

Jennifer’s farm was a perfect place to stay with our class B can. Quiet and peaceful, only 15 minutes from the UK campus, Lexington downtown and easy to get to from the interstate. The site had full 30amp hookup , water and dump. Jennifer was very helpful and went out of her way to make it an easy place to find and stay.

Weekend Trip to Turtleback Ridge

This was my second stay at Turtleback Ridge, and Keegan suggested a different spot—a little more private, scenic, and quiet as the first, and still an easy walk to the brewery. One might not think camping would lead to restful sleep the night before a bike race, but this site delivers. The hosts are incredibly helpful, gracious, and considerate. Oh, and they make some amazing beers that are worth the trip on their own. Even with the rainy weather, it was a peaceful, no-fuss place to settle in. I’ll definitely be back.

We tent camped here for 4 nights as a base for exploring the Red River Gorge area. The site was perfect for us (2 adults, Jeep camping). Set up the tent on the wooden deck using some paracord to secure it in place. Amazing sunset views, privacy, and tranquility! Highly recommend! 😎

Weekend Trip to Handyland

This is a fantastic spot! This was our first time using Hipcamp, and it was such a great experience. Josh was a wonderful host- super friendly, easy to communicate with, and made sure we had everything we needed to get settled in! My dog also had an absolute blast running around and swimming in the nearby creek. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

7 nights at HomeGrown HideAways

We camped here for two weeks and were sad to leave. Jessa and Nathan made us feel very at home, tucked away in this precious holler. We enjoyed the silence of the night, the fog in the morning, the creek near our campsite, and the incredible hike right on property. We stayed in our 30 foot converted school bus in one of their RV back in sites. We were able to park quite easily, and there was plenty of space to maneuver the bus into the spot. The sites were level with gravel. The creek was actually quite warm to swim in. Our starlink internet worked well! Nathan and Jessa were friendly and quick to respond to any of our messages through Hipcamp. They were happy to share any cool things about the property or the town of Berea. They were respectful of our privacy and also made great company while using the kitchen in the community space. We had a fun time in the moments connecting with them over their garden and chickens. We certainly intend to be back. We really liked the community aspect of their property, encouraging people to connect. We also liked that they had their own products for sale at a reasonable price. We enjoyed everything from their eggs, asparagus, to things like apple butter and fresh garlic powder; all from their own land. We appreciated their complementary springwater. Their generosity and kind hearts truly made this beautiful holler a gem you are going to want to visit. Thank you for such a great experience. We hope to cross paths again!

My husband and I loved our camping experience in Cari’s the Laaand. It was fun and weekend is not enough. We loved the short hikes and our favorite is the overlook trail which of course overlooks the Daniel Boone’s Forest. There is no outhouse so better bring your portable toilet ☺️ Overall it was sooo peaceful and serene, we heard roosters at times, but we’re not bothered. The best thing is that we have the place on our own during our stay. 100% sure we’ll book our future camping trips in the Laaaand

Our lodging features treehouses, yurts, a bunkhouse, retro camper, water/electric hook-ups, and campsites. We also host weddings, retreats, and other events so advance reservations are required. For insurance purposes and the safety of our own livestock and pets, we do not allow guests to bring their pets/ESAs onto the property. Prepare to UNPLUG as we do not have cell service or wifi (there IS a landline for guests to make phone calls located in the Community Farmhouse). All guests from tent to treehouse have access to our solar-powered Community Farmhouse featuring a fully-stocked chef-inspired kitchen, restrooms, coin-op laundry, and upstairs multi-purpose room with a library and board games. There is also an outdoor kitchen area with additional cooking space including a grill, microwave, and sink (sink is closed in the winter so the pipes don’t freeze). Next to the Farmhouse is a massive pavilion with picnic tables for al fresco dining and firewood bundles to purchase. BRING CASH! Our seasonal bath house is generally open from April or May to October or November based on the prevailing temps. There are 4 flush toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 hot showers. The floors are concrete so we recommend shower shoes and you'll want to bring your own towels and shampoo/soap. The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge. For other activities, restaurants, shopping, music, and more, we're happy to share our favorites, but highly recommend checking out the Berea Tourism website.

That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Here are a few of our featured campsites: REDBUD MEADOW: Our first campsite used by hundreds of people over the years. A secluded lawn in the midst of redbud trees, easy to drive to and from with a pile of firewood and a metal fire ring. The premier site on our property. THE BAPTISMAL POND: As history goes the pond in front of this site was used in the 1800's for baptisms for the church visible from everywhere on the farm, thus our name. This is a tent site, easy to drive into and out of, fires permitted in season. THISTLEDOWN GATHERING PLACE: This is a very large meadow, surrounded by trees with the capacity for large groups, many tents and gatherings of lots of people. Very level, easy in and out with vehicles. Fires permitted in season. WHITETAIL SANCTUARY: Every night for decades a herd of whitetail deer graze in this pastoral setting. Drive in and out, fires in season. Suitable for a family sized tent. THE PENNINSULA: This camping spot is WALK IN ONLY. You can drive to the trailhead on grass and walk the path to the campsite (about 200 yards). One of two remote sites. It sits in the woods, on the bank of a wet weather creek which flows around two sides of the campsite. Fires permitted in season. TOTEM TREES: This site is WALK IN ONLY. A short hike down the hill from the grass parking area and you have a small spot for a tent, in the woods, surrounded by trees and a lot of standing dead ash which appear as if you are in the presence of totem poles. NO OPEN FIRES. MUST USE BACKPACKER STOVE AND FLAMELESS LIGHTING. SPOTTED FAWN HIDEAWAY: This totally secluded walk in campsite is suitable for a small tent only AND PERFECT FOR HAMMOCK CAMPING. NO FIRES as the site benefits from the shade and protection of overhanging cedar trees and the ground is covered in cedar needles. NO OPEN FIRES. MUST USE BACKPACKER STOVE AND FLAMELESS LIGHTING.
