Neighborhood overview
Very quiet here almost all of the time but there is a possibility for noise especially on some major holiday weekends. Usually if someone comes down the road it is the Post Man, UPS or Fed EX except for the 4th of July when our boat dock is often a prime location for a big fireworks display. Usually can't tell a Saturday from a Tuesday most of the time as 80-90% of houses in the area are second vacation homes and unoccupied most of the year. Only 2 houses are located past ours before the cul-de-sac. We are separated by trees and woods on both sides. Private yet very Conveniently located.
Getting around
Plenty of Convenient Parking located across the concrete driveway. A Large Heavy Duty Wagon is Available for loading and unloading. Plenty of Great biking and hiking spaces are all around. Close to Knoxville, Cumberland Gap, The Smokey Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cherokee NC and plenty of options should you choose to leave the lake for a while or your against fishing in the rain.
We are located approximately 8 Miles to New Tazewell Municipal Airport and about 9 Miles to Woodlake Golf & Country Club. Hospital, Veterinarian, Groceries, Walmart, Dollar Stores, Subway, McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Local Dining, Antiques & Thrift Shops, etc. all within a 5-7 Mile Drive. Awesome hiking in and around the national and state parks and all over the area to Magic Places like The White Rocks or the Sand Cave or water falls and rivers as well as more historical trails from Daniel Boone heading west to the Tri State Marker. Strategic Location for peaceful camping with lots of nearby options. Camping is very primitive and rustic as new amenities come online in planned future. The best time of booking is the weekend at present.
We have:
Wooded/Grassy hills with plenty of tree cover and open space to spread out . A uniquely positioned community fire pit is available with an impressive view. It is very rustic and primitive, but well kept, quiet, secluded, with developing surroundings.
There is direct access to Jefferson National Forest and miles of hiking, biking and horseback trails. Equestrians encouraged, but is Bring your own horse and Tie Line.
Nearby sites include Bark Camp Lake, Guest River Gorge, Bear Rock, Little Stony Falls, Chief Benge Trail, Devils Bath Tub, and High Knob. We are also located along several driving and scenic routes to include: Backroads of the Cumberland's, Appalachian Backroads, Virginia Wildlife and Birding Trail, and Thomas Jefferson Scenic Byway (Rt. 72). In addition, within a short drive there is an ATV trailhead in the local town. The Clinch River is not far at all as well.
There is a small quaint downtown less than 5 miles with grocery, gas, supplies, and a few places to eat.
Mission:
The original idea for CR Adventure Outpost came many years ago. We grew up visiting "Grandparents" in Wise County and developed a deep love for the area, the outdoors, and all it had to offer. There came a point, , when we realized that the amount of outdoor activities and authentic cultural experiences could indeed support visitors. It could also support many business opportunities once everyone became aware of what was all around them. At that point, a process began of research and planning on ideas some thought were pointless. People deeply want to get back to nature and withdrawal from a fast paced materialistic society, at least long enough to realize what is really important in life. There is a huge need and vast opportunity to take advantage of the many beautiful landscapes in Southwest Virginia.

This secluded spot on a private drive is a perfect little getaway location. You have lake view and lake access by foot. Vehicles can be parked on the 25 ft stretch of grass pad above the campsite, or pulled down the hill … (please note the word HILL) onto site at vehicle owners' discretion. Fire pit is on premise and ready for use with a walking trail to the water. Kayaks are available for rental to navigate Cherokee Lake. Trees surround you full of wild rabbits, birds and squirrels. Down at the water about 50 ft from your site you have the availability to fish, wade in the water, Kayak, or sit and watch the ducks, geese, turtles and more. This is a private drive but has four sites so please respect other tenants who have come to enjoy seclusion and serenity during their stay. We are in a rural area about 22 minutes from main town. However, there are restaurants, a Blue Bell ice cream parlor, a grocery store and post office all within 8 minutes. We are 12 minutes from one of the best Disc Golf courses, 25 minutes from Parks/trails/waterfalls, and only about an hour from major tourist sites in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg/ Knoxville/Bristol Speedway. You will have solitude during your stay but opportunities for communication and aid from the host is available. The site can be busier during holiday breaks as this is OFF a main road and is on Cherokee lake so noise echos on the water, and there may be other renters checking in other units just a heads up.

Neighborhood overview
Very quiet here almost all of the time but there is a possibility for noise especially on some major holiday weekends. Usually if someone comes down the road it is the Post Man, UPS or Fed EX except for the 4th of July when our boat dock is often a prime location for a big fireworks display. Usually can't tell a Saturday from a Tuesday most of the time as 80-90% of houses in the area are second vacation homes and unoccupied most of the year. Only 2 houses are located past ours before the cul-de-sac. We are separated by trees and woods on both sides. Private yet very Conveniently located.
Getting around
Plenty of Convenient Parking located across the concrete driveway. A Large Heavy Duty Wagon is Available for loading and unloading. Plenty of Great biking and hiking spaces are all around. Close to Knoxville, Cumberland Gap, The Smokey Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cherokee NC and plenty of options should you choose to leave the lake for a while or your against fishing in the rain.
We are located approximately 8 Miles to New Tazewell Municipal Airport and about 9 Miles to Woodlake Golf & Country Club. Hospital, Veterinarian, Groceries, Walmart, Dollar Stores, Subway, McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Local Dining, Antiques & Thrift Shops, etc. all within a 5-7 Mile Drive. Awesome hiking in and around the national and state parks and all over the area to Magic Places like The White Rocks or the Sand Cave or water falls and rivers as well as more historical trails from Daniel Boone heading west to the Tri State Marker. We have:
Wooded/Grassy hills with plenty of tree cover and open space to spread out . A uniquely positioned community fire pit is available with an impressive view. It is very rustic and primitive, but well kept, quiet, secluded, with developing surroundings.
There is direct access to Jefferson National Forest and miles of hiking, biking and horseback trails. Equestrians encouraged, but is Bring your own horse and Tie Line.
Nearby sites include Bark Camp Lake, Guest River Gorge, Bear Rock, Little Stony Falls, Chief Benge Trail, Devils Bath Tub, and High Knob. We are also located along several driving and scenic routes to include: Backroads of the Cumberland's, Appalachian Backroads, Virginia Wildlife and Birding Trail, and Thomas Jefferson Scenic Byway (Rt. 72). In addition, within a short drive there is an ATV trailhead in the local town. The Clinch River is not far at all as well.
There is a small quaint downtown less than 5 miles with grocery, gas, supplies, and a few places to eat.
Mission:
The original idea for CR Adventure Outpost came many years ago. We grew up visiting "Grandparents" in Wise County and developed a deep love for the area, the outdoors, and all it had to offer. There came a point, , when we realized that the amount of outdoor activities and authentic cultural experiences could indeed support visitors. It could also support many business opportunities once everyone became aware of what was all around them. At that point, a process began of research and planning on ideas some thought were pointless. People deeply want to get back to nature and withdrawal from a fast paced materialistic society, at least long enough to realize what is really important in life. Glamping
Glamping in one of our three amazing luxury tents – located right on the river, the creek or tucked away in the mountains – is the ultimate in camping meets comfort. All three locations are nestled up against our farm and have full access to the river and gathering spots. Tents have their own private restroom with double compost toilets and an off grid hot shower heated by propane.
Barnyard
Staying overnight in our barnyard camper gives you the complete farm life experience. You will be staying right in the middle of our farm—between our barn and our milking parlor—surrounded by chickens, turkeys, and guinea hens! Inside your camper, you will have running water, a restroom, and a small kitchen. If you’re curious about life on a family farm or just want to get some good quality time in with farm animals, this is the place to stay.
Boondocking
Your own RV is welcome to park riverside, we currently do not have hookups so you will be dry camping. You are also welcome to use our fire pit and restrooms if they are available, as guests staying in our glamping tents will have the option to reserve them. The restrooms have double compost toilets and an off grid hot shower heated by propane. You can check with us prior to making your reservation to see if other guests have already reserved these amenities for their stay.

Classic tent camping is a blast here! You can bring your own tent or rent one from us. This is the ultimate experience for living off the land and reconnecting with nature. You will have your own fire pit, and you will be surrounded by an abundance of wildlife.
When you stay overnight with us here on the farm you become part of our family. We want to make sure that you not only unwind but also get to take advantage of all the amazing things this beautiful homestead has to offer. You will have direct access to the river for kayaking, tubing, fishing, swimming, hiking, or just sitting along the bank enjoying the fresh air. Our family’s favorite activity is gathering by the fire pit at night, listening to the river, and gazing at the stars, which shine brighter here than anywhere we’ve ever been. We would love to share everything this peaceful place has with you.
Waking up by the river is rejuvenating and is the perfect way to start your day as you reconnect with nature. While you’re perfectly welcome to cook all of your meals over a campfire for the full “roughing it” experience, we understand that there are times when you just want to kick back and relax. With that in mind, we also offer hot, home cooked family meals, delivered directly to your door upon request and at an additional expense.

This secluded spot on a private drive is a perfect little getaway location. You have lake view and lake access by foot. Vehicles can be parked on the 25 ft stretch of grass pad above the campsite, or pulled down the hill … (please note the word HILL) onto site at vehicle owners' discretion. Fire pit is on premise and ready for use with a walking trail to the water. Kayaks are available for rental to navigate Cherokee Lake. Trees surround you full of wild rabbits, birds and squirrels. Down at the water about 50 ft from your site you have the availability to fish, wade in the water, Kayak, or sit and watch the ducks, geese, turtles and more. This is a private drive but has four sites so please respect other tenants who have come to enjoy seclusion and serenity during their stay. We are in a rural area about 22 minutes from main town. However, there are restaurants, a Blue Bell ice cream parlor, a grocery store and post office all within 8 minutes. We are 12 minutes from one of the best Disc Golf courses, 25 minutes from Parks/trails/waterfalls, and only about an hour from major tourist sites in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg/ Knoxville/Bristol Speedway. You will have solitude during your stay but opportunities for communication and aid from the host is available. The site can be busier during holiday breaks as this is OFF a main road and is on Cherokee lake so noise echos on the water, and there may be other renters checking in other units just a heads up.

This site is secluded on a cleared house pad designed for tents, a space for up to three small tents (bring your own). We provide a “toilet room” equipped with a solar fan, solar lights, and hospitality items, including toilet paper, paper towels, a trash can, potty gel (with instructions posted inside), and hand sanitizer. Also we provide a picnic table and fire pit with fire wood and cast iron pans to cook.
You receive a gift bag to take with you!
Enjoy meals at the picnic table beside the fire pit, overlooking the Newmans Ridge!
Occasionally, you may hear the neighbor’s donkey, goats, or other farm animals nearby. Please respect the clearly marked “No Trespassing” areas.
Relax around the fire pit, or take a short trip into our quaint little town; just a 20-minute drive over the mountains for shopping or a cozy coffee stop at the Lovely Iris Café. As of September the new restaurant in town on Main Street has breakfast, lunch and dinner! Nearby, you’ll also find Elrod Falls, a perfect spot to picnic or take a refreshing swim.
At your campsite, a small trail leads down to a seasonal creek when water is flowing.

Amazing spot for groups or overlanders looking for a quiet place tucked away in the woods. The Filipino food truck and lumpia were just a bonus, this place is quiet and hidden. The campsites are well established with fire rings, there was firewood available, porta-johns, and fantastic stargazing and nature viewing. This place is a perfect getaway and a hidden gem, I can’t recommend it enough as an avid camper and overlander who spends a lot of time exploring hipcamps. One of the best I’ve ever been to!

Blissful oasis! 😊 campground is well kept/clear for setting up ⛺️ and exploring hiking around the pond. Yet not over groomed, natural barriers between sites for privacy. One can really hear themselves think and rest. I was surprised to find hardly any pests like mosquitoes, guessing that's what a clean ecosystem must feel like. Camp hosts Melinda and Paul were welcoming and accommodating, and allowed us our quiet Zen experience.

This is now one of my favorite camp sites , it's very private and secluded, the views are incomparable, Melissa is a great host, she was very helpful to reschedule my reservation due to the weather, when we got there she was very polite and professional. We enjoyed our stay at the Hilltop Ridge, it's situate perfectly to watch both the sunrise and sunset, the first night we were there the sky was clear we got to see the milky way. Cumberland falls are only 40 minutes away for some hiking, We would definitely stay there again. 4x4 is a must to make it to the camp site.

We loved our stay here! We were in an area just to ourselves and even our own bath house. The bathroom and shower were made out of a horse trailer and were very clean and had hot water! They were very nice and explained to us how to use their facilities. We enjoyed being able to make our dinner by the river in the new fire pit. They even provided fire wood and kindling! It felt very private and was a big site to stay at. This was definitely my favorite place I have stayed at to camp and we would definitely come back!

We had an amazing experience camping at this site! Melissa and Paul were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The property was exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which added to our overall enjoyment.
One of the highlights of our stay was being able to fish right from our side of the bank. We also loved launching our kayaks there; it was so convenient! The best part? They rent kayaks, so we didn't have to worry about bringing our own.
Overall, this camping site exceeded our expectations, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in nature!

Hilltop Ridge was awesome! Super quiet, amazing views. There was a brief rain shower in the morning (the host did send us a message the day before that some rain may come through), but we did some exploring once it passed and walked around the pond loop before checking out. All the campsites are clearly marked and clean. Saw deer and 2 turkeys which was pretty cool. The host was very nice and communicative. 10/10 would go again!
