Our 360-acre family farm—held by our family for nearly 80 years—has been transformed from a tree grove and a former highway borrow pit into a welcoming campground.
We’ve built two structures on the property, including a shop with a restroom and a cozy porch where my wife and I enjoy evenings watching deer and other wildlife. What began as a spot for family camping has grown into a campground we’re now opening to guests.
Campsites range from electric-hookup sites for convenience to primitive sites for those who want to unplug and enjoy quiet time in nature.
Beyond relaxing, guests can fish and paddle-boat on our pond or access the nearby Volga River for canoeing and kayaking. The Volga River State Recreation Area is just 10 miles away and offers additional fishing, boating, hiking, and horseback-riding opportunities.
Update: So far this spring we haven't seen any fish in our pond. We don't know what happened to them and if fishing on the pond will be possible this year.

Privacy or community connection, whichever you prefer, we have 20 acres in Anamosa, Iowa at the end of a cul-de-sac just 5 blocks from Main Street. ABOUT THE BARNYARD:
n*Everland Barnyard is an eccentric art installation space created from found, recycled, and repurposed building materials in the heart of Grant Wood Country in Jones County, Iowa. We are not a commercial campground. We focus on Zen, mindfulness, peace, and tranquility. Firmly in the realm of Outsider Art, Gothic and rustic, Bob Kellogg has created a place unlike anywhere else in the world that represents freedom and inspires endless creativity. The land provides multiple camp sites for easy access to bike and walking trails taking visitors into town or through the Wapsipinicon State Park across the river from the property. Anamosa offers several restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses all within walking distance and less than a mile from our land.

There is a beautiful spring-fed water hole ideal for swimming in the state park, as well as access to the river from our property (although we do not recommend swimming in the river.)

We have 15 acres of woods with a natural rock bluff, so many different spaces which allow you to fully bond with nature. Trails to wander and wildlife to see. Clothing is optional through out all of the property; overnight camping and sunbathing/day pass spots are available.
Located on the Wapsipinicon River. Camp sites are tucked away from life's stresses. Relax in the woods. Watch the cows and calves moo in the nearby pasture. Walk nature trails with native wildlife and flora. Great photo opportunities abound. Cast a line to catch dinner. Escape to nature is the key to this property; find yourself tucked away from city sounds and light pollution. Come out to see the sunset/sunrise, check out the stars, read a good book, lay out in your favorite hammock, find yourself, and be at peace. Great place for a nice camping fire; treat yourself to some smores. Peaceful sounds at night of the river flowing as you drift off to sleep in your tent. Perfect little spot for peaceful relaxation and just taking some time. Walk the trails in your natural skin, shoot photos of all the different plants, listen to the birds and animals scurry, enjoy the sunshine, and feel the warmth on all of your body. Put in your canoe or kayak at Olin for a 3-4 hour float to our camping area. There are lots of state parks within a short drive; visit the only Presidential library in Iowa; and tour some amazing caves in nearby parks. Enjoy the Great Jones County Fair only 30 mins away.. So much to do, and then come back to a space without crowds and just chill.

Nature, art, animals, and lots of space! The hilly, lush land is also known as the Bohemie Alps and it's quite a beautiful area tucked away in Iowa.
Visit with the llamas, goats, peacocks, potbelly pigs and the horses and hike around the property or stay in for a quiet stay with a good book and enjoy all the sights and sounds. Lots of extra 'add ons' to enhance the experience, like a waffle bar kit, smore's package, hikes, and more!

Nestled in the heart of the Driftless Region of Northeast Iowa, The Prairie Lodge sits on 200 acres of native prairie and timber as part of the Cook Heritage Farm Estate. This cherished family property has been passed down through generations for over 173 years. The property borders the scenic Turkey River and is surrounded by rolling farmland and gentle bluffs that lead toward the mighty Mississippi River. Rich in natural beauty, the Driftless Area is geologically unique—never touched by glaciers—and is known for its caves, underground streams, blind valleys, sinkholes, and cold spring-fed creeks.
The Prairie Lodge, once the main “corn crib” used for drying and storing harvested corn, has been thoughtfully renovated into a comfortable and charming retreat. Inside, you’ll find a full kitchen, two bathrooms, a cozy living room, and an open loft with four queen beds. The loft comfortably sleeps eight and can accommodate up to ten guests with a blow-up mattress if needed.
Step onto the east-facing patio deck with your morning beverage and watch the sunrise over fields of blooming prairie flowers. Wildlife is abundant—deer, rabbits, songbirds, pheasants, and even eagles are frequent visitors. As night falls, the second-floor deck becomes the perfect spot for stargazing and listening to the calls of coyotes echoing across the land.
Next door to the Lodge, you’ll find the Bin Bar—a once-abandoned grain bin transformed in 2017 into a unique gathering space ideal for late-night storytelling and nightcaps under the stars.
For those traveling with a larger group, RV campsites with full water, sewer, and electrical hookups are available near the Lodge. If additional accommodations are needed beyond the Prairie Lodge, please contact your Hipcamp host for details and availability.

Scott and Kimberly are great hosts. The property is beautiful. I love that they welcome everyone of every expression with great emphasis on “be yourself” and mutual respect of fellow campers. Campgrounds were booked so I stopped for day pass. Really enjoyed walking the property and relaxing in the hammocks.

We had such a peaceful and relaxing stay at JT Ridge. The property is beautiful, private, and surrounded by nature with amazing river views, wooded trails, and incredible sunsets. It was the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and enjoy some quiet time away from the crowds. The campsites felt well-spaced. This made the experience even more relaxing. If you’re looking for a unique camping getaway with a calm atmosphere and a true connection to nature, this is definitely worth visiting!

We had a group of 6 and spent 3 nights at Scott’s property and it was a blast! We booked both waterfront sites and it worked out really well. If you have a large group you could even book all 3 sites as they are close enough together. But also plenty of space if there are other couples or groups there. We will definitely be returning for another fun weekend!

Scott was so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed! The trail from the parking to the sites is a bit of a walk, but less than 10 minutes. Scott had an ATV and wagon to help carry our supplies when checking in and leaving. The bathroom is close by and uses a portable camping style toilet with bags to dispose of after each use. The shower was an outdoor rainwater shower so a bit cold but very refreshing after a day of activities. Lots of shade at the sites and nice and sunny up at the communal lounging area at the top of the property.
We've already decided we will be making it back and might even book all 3 sites to share as they are close enough to work for a group but gives you plenty of space if there are other families or groups there. We are all very grateful that Scott has created this unique and welcoming space and couldn't recommend it more!

33 ft travel trailer
We stopped at Sue’s for an overnight stay on our way from Indiana to Minnesota. We prefer staying where we aren’t in a typical campground setting. This stay was exactly that. We were greeted upon arrival, and assisted with filling our fresh water tank. Our 33ft travel trailer was easy to maneuver and set up on their perfectly level spot. We were able to keep our rig hooked up for an easy departure the following morning. This property is absolutely stunning. We will be coming back through in late summer and can’t wait to see the beautiful flowers when they are in full bloom. We enjoyed great conversation with Sue and her husband. We will stay here again and this is highly recommended if you prefer an overnight stay that isn’t your typical cramped KOA or Stare Park experience.

We had such a lovely stay! My partner and I both celebrate our birthdays around Mother's Day and booked a short jaunt. The weather was gorgeous and everything was super green and beautiful! We also did the Cornhole with Llamas and it was so much fun! If you are a stargazer, this is your chance to see the Milky Way! Whimsical! Unforgettable! Fantastical! Cannot recommend enough! We will be back!

Weekend Trip to Windy Goat Acres
Everything was beyond my expectations during our stay. You find all sorts of treasures while out exploring the land around Windy Goat Acres and it's absolutely beautiful! When sending out photos to friends one of them commented, "I wouldn't be surprised if a unicorn strolled by next!" Jessica is very welcoming (as are the animals) and an amazing person that makes you feel comfortable and at home. I haven't been able to stop talking about our trip since we left and am looking forward to our next adventure back! The only downside was having to leave.

Windy Goat Acres is an enchanting land. We had the most lovely weekend wandering around the farm, being entertained by the animals, sitting on the Hobbit House patio reading, enjoying a fire, and just getting away from the rest of the world. We can't wait to return.

The Hobbit House was a great place to stay! Cute hobbit interior to match the outside of the house! Perfect location within the farm. The parking and porta potty are short walks away from the house. We cooked steaks over the fire for dinner and enjoyed the waffle breakfast that Jessica brought to us in the morning!! Dogs are welcomed also!

My family had a great time at Windy Goat Acres. Jessica was very friendly and accommodating. We love spending time feeding and watching the animals as well as exploring all of the little areas set up all over the property. We walked several of the trails and loved the view from the top of the hill. While I'm not personally fond of staying in cabins (this was a family gift), I would definitely go here again just for all of the experiences.

This was our 2nd time staying at Windy Goat Acres. It is truly a special place to get away. We appreciated the nice touches of the hobbit house as LOTR fans. But also just walking around& seeing the animals. The owners are lovely as well. Highly recommend& we will definitely be back!

The property was incredible and the owners were hospitable. The yurt was clean and comfy, the animals were friendly and very adorable (I love you banana), and it was generally a beautiful and very relaxing landscape. Only hitch was it got a little cold but that’s what blankets are for

We stayed in the Hobbit House and it was a dream come true! It felt so warm, cozy, and inviting! We loved the experience of our add-ons (the goat social, waffle bar, and photoshoot)! The waffle bar is a MUST and we loved holding the baby goats! I wish we booked our stay a bit longer, but we’re excited to come back soon!

Second time staying at Roy’s Acres. Steve is always very friendly. Campsites are nice and clean, bathroom well kept, with a shower on the way! Can’t wait to visit again.
