Coffins Grove Park is a unique destination that combines rich history with natural beauty, making it an ideal spot for family picnics and outdoor gatherings. Located just 4 miles west of Manchester in section 27 of Coffins Grove Township (T89N-R6W), Delaware County, Iowa, this park is steeped in the legacy of early pioneer Clement Coffin, who settled in the area. The picturesque Coffins Creek, which flows through the park, adds to its charm and has been a gathering place for over a century. In 1964, Gretchen and Ed Kuhlman generously donated 22 acres to the Delaware County Conservation Board in memory of their late family members. The board's mission was to create a space for public picnicking and camping, and today, Coffins Grove Park features 14 campsites, including 5 with water and electric hookups, 5 with electric, and 4 primitive sites. The park is heavily wooded, showcasing a variety of trees, with majestic Burr Oaks enhancing its scenic beauty. Coffins Grove Creek runs through the northern third of the park, flowing from west to east. While the creek can experience seasonal flooding, it adds to the park's natural allure.
