We have a lovely piece of property to come enjoy a getaway at. We enjoy all of the peace and quiet around here. The night sky is unbeatable in my eyes. We have a small hobby farm with lots of very tame animals. We have 42 acres to roams with lots of trails within the woods that are filled with aged oak trees and many young maple trees. Our property is filled with lots of wild flowers and wildlife.
We are locate 3 miles from the root river if you enjoy fishing or going for a float down the river. There are two caves in our area that are a must see while you are visiting. I you like to hike there is a state park 14 minutes from us that have many miles of hiking trails and horse trails.
If you are more the small town strolling type of person we have lots of small towns around us that are filled with shops and lots of great food! There is a large system of bike trails in our area that make a very fun way to check out some of the small towns.
If you have a family with kids we have a lot of fun activities you can do with your kids, like spending time with the goats, chickens and ducks, playing on our playground, or taking a nice walk through the woods looking for fossils!

The property has been in my family for over 40 years and was originally settled in the mid 1800's. It is about 10 acres and is primarily wooded with Cedar, Oak, Maple, Hickory and Birch. The topography is diverse, having steep heights, easy flats and everything in between; which makes hiking fun and interesting. The lower College Drive side features a historic limestone homestead and quarry, also a fossil rich creek-bed and rustic (4WD) road to the top. The upper property (Hwy. 52 access) offers a secluded forest as well as a spacious meadow. The woods are filled with birds and many other indigenous wild animals. We are only a half mile from towns edge and two miles from its center (also a five minute drive from Luther College). The Decorah area is well known for its scenic natural beauty and has extensive hiking trails, biking trails, cross-country ski routes, rivers, creeks and hunting areas. People come here year round for our outdoor recreation and beauty. Canoeing, Kayaking, Fishing, Tubing, X-country skiing, and Trail Riding are very popular activities around here. Bring a side-by-side or ATV and have a blast both on the property and around the area. Decorah has several museums, a movie theater, 2 golf courses and bowling alley in addition to dozens of charming shops and several restaurants. You'll never get bored staying at Cedar Springs.

Nestled in the heart of the Driftless Region of Northeast Iowa, The Prairie Lodge sits on 200 acres of native prairie and timber as part of the Cook Heritage Farm Estate. This cherished family property has been passed down through generations for over 173 years. The property borders the scenic Turkey River and is surrounded by rolling farmland and gentle bluffs that lead toward the mighty Mississippi River. Rich in natural beauty, the Driftless Area is geologically unique—never touched by glaciers—and is known for its caves, underground streams, blind valleys, sinkholes, and cold spring-fed creeks.
The Prairie Lodge, once the main “corn crib” used for drying and storing harvested corn, has been thoughtfully renovated into a comfortable and charming retreat. Inside, you’ll find a full kitchen, two bathrooms, a cozy living room, and an open loft with four queen beds. The loft comfortably sleeps eight and can accommodate up to ten guests with a blow-up mattress if needed.
Step onto the east-facing patio deck with your morning beverage and watch the sunrise over fields of blooming prairie flowers. Wildlife is abundant—deer, rabbits, songbirds, pheasants, and even eagles are frequent visitors. As night falls, the second-floor deck becomes the perfect spot for stargazing and listening to the calls of coyotes echoing across the land.
Next door to the Lodge, you’ll find the Bin Bar—a once-abandoned grain bin transformed in 2017 into a unique gathering space ideal for late-night storytelling and nightcaps under the stars.
For those traveling with a larger group, RV campsites with full water, sewer, and electrical hookups are available near the Lodge. If additional accommodations are needed beyond the Prairie Lodge, please contact your Hipcamp host for details and availability.

I would definitely recommend Gossman Goat Farm! It has beautiful views and it was fun to see the goats and chickens. The directions were clear and the sites are clean and well organized. Cathy was very helpful and friendly and her boys ran and gathered eggs.. A great family run business, and the handmade soap was a wonderful souvenir!:)

The land, cabin, Cathy and family and of course the goats were all amazing. My kids had the best time! Everything was as described and perfect. The cabin worked great for 5 of us and the cabin amenities like games, hammock and fire pit were perfect.

Weekend Trip to Hideaway Camper by the Cave 2.0
My boyfriend and I loved this spot. A quiet camper with a waterfall and horses close. Very relaxing if that’s what you’re looking for. John is extremely accommodating and quick to respond to needs. Definitely coming back!

4 nights at Gossman Goat Ranch
Was a cozy little cabin in the wood. We enjoyed hiking about the property and visit the animals. We really enjoyed the hammock and porch swing. Cozy fires and beautiful stars! Thanks for creating this lovely spot.

20 ft travel trailer
We camp a lot, and this is a very unique place. Complete privacy, zero light pollution, gorgeous topography, and wildflowers everywhere, accessible with perfectly mowed trails throughout.
We used the dump station at The Barn Resort just a mile or so away. Or you could dry camp here since there is a porta potty and hose for basic washing.
Star gazing is incredible along with abundant wildlife sightings! Highly recommend. Neil is very friendly and attentive.

18 ft toy hauler
We highly recommend this site!! This site is for the camper that loves wide open spaces, gorgeous views, with the space for your dogs to be off leash. After a night watching fireflies and listening to the frogs, we woke to a gorgeous sunrise coming up over the valley. We hiked around the property’s 24 acres on well maintained grass trails through wildflower meadows. It was a warm fall day so we went down to the river to set our chairs and toes in the water for a few hours. We spent time in the nearby towns of Lanesboro and Harmony for Amish shops, antiques, food and drinks, and grabbed fresh apples and pastries at an apple orchard. We enjoyed our stay at Lanesboro Acres and plan to visit again soon!

3 nights at Gossman Goat Ranch
Camping on Cathy's property was fantastic. She met us at the gate to the property and showed us the way to the campsite. We had reserved a tent site, but debris had recently fallen down so she allowed us to stay at the cabin site. The views were lovely, the toilet was clean and easily accessible, and we felt perfectly at home. We had plenty of privacy and the goats were lovely (our favorite was Allie).

Weekend Trip to Gossman Goat Ranch
Such a great getaway! The location felt private and the pictures don't do it justice. It is a well kept cabin that has just enough to be comfortable while still having the camping vibe. We were close to many cities and multiple attractions. Definitely recommend biking the trails or going on a cave tour.

So private and close to everything we wanted to do at Forestville/Mystery Cave. Cathy had great communication, met us on arrival and the path to the tent camping site was well marked. The goats were a bonus! My girls loved meeting the goats and reading all of their name tags - Hannah is the favorite!
We prepaid for wood and there was plenty! There was also a grate for the fire pit and mats for under the tent. I would recommend staying here!

Cute little spot with plenty of privacy and a bunch of goats!! The clearing for the campsite had plenty of level space and trails allowed easy access to bathroom and exploring the property. The way back to the site is narrow for cars but my SUV fit well and they're marked well

We absolutely loved camping here! This is now our second time back and we will return more. The camping area is pristine, and secluded. The goats are absolutely amazing! And this is in the perfect location if you wanna go to the local small towns throughout your trip as well.
