We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. Our property is located north of Rockville, Indiana, in beautiful Parke County, right off Highway 41. Nestled in a quiet ravine, it offers a peaceful getaway close to local attractions. My husband and I live on site. We love to have guests, but still like to make sure that guests are comfortable. We try to only have a few families at a time. Our property has been a local campground since the 1970’s; we bought the property a few years ago and built a home. We now want to share our love for the property with others. Turkey Run State Park and Shades State Park are just a few miles away, and kayaking or canoeing is available down the road. The area is famous for its 30+ beautiful covered bridges, as well as local Amish shops and food stands. Rockville itself has several charming coffee shops and unique shopping spots. On-site, our property features walking trails, a his-and-hers bathhouse with toilets and showers, and a covered picnic area for you to enjoy. We are also within 30 minutes of Bridgeton and Mansfield—perfect if you’re visiting for the amazing Bridge Festival. We provide fire pits and firewood for your convenience. We have many spots on our property that you could choose to tent camp. We do also have some electrical units for campers. Electric is available to tent campers just let us know when booking.

Working, 110 acre family farm of heritage breed livestock, nestled in a historic limestone quarry on the banks of the White River, on one side, and Fall Creek, on another. Dispersed with lots of space between campsites and are often all to yourself. Learn about regenerative farming with rare breeds on a farm tour, or mining and wetlands restoration on an ecological history tour. Pet and feed the livestock. Fish and bird-watch. Take a yoga class (at times with goats or bunnies) in the center of the stone henge. Have coffee with goats. Take a donkey stroll. Eat farm craft meats, eggs, prepared soups, casseroles, and baked goods, or hop into town for a bite. Across the river from McCormick's Creek State Park (Indiana's first state park with miles of trails, a swimming pool, and lodge). Just two miles north of Spencer, a small town with an excellent brew pub, winery, cafe, and more. Just 12 miles north is Cataract Falls State Recreation Area. Only 20 minutes from Bloomington and Indiana University; 45 minutes from Indianapolis Int'l Airport. This is a working farm with lots of livestock, electric fences, and working dogs, so please leave the farm animals alone unless someone from the farm is available and present. Dogs must be on a leash in the camping area, given the above features of a working livestock farm, the quarry ruins, the operative railroad tracks, and the river (not suitable for swimming), family friendly (children under the age of 18 must be attended by adults at all times). *We have lots of on-farm food and supplies options, please contact us for a complete list and any requests. Our secluded riparian area at the confluence of Sugar Creek and East Little Sugar (aka Snail Creek) has been operated by our family as a place of solitude, relaxation, river fishing and canoeing for over 100 years*. 'Miami 'Indians' camped here year-round for centuries before the Euro Pioneers arrived in 1821. During the early-1800s, a stagecoach station on the Cincinnati-Indianapolis line was built upon the Indian village. (Yes, stagecoaches in Indiana - that's how even Easterners got around before railroads). During WWII our Camp provided RnR for soldiers, sailors and Army aviators stationed at the numerous training bases and facilities in/around Indianapolis and Central Indiana. Sleek Acres includes our homestead, chicken yard and barn, a fishing pond with a beach, and over 8 secluded acres to the back of the property for guests to enjoy (including a walking trail.) We provide a bathhouse, which includes three toilets and a shower (cold and hot water). A handwash/ dishwashing station is located right outside the bathhouse. Fire rings, cooking grates, and picnic tables are provided at each site. A small amount of firewood is provided, and additional firewood is available for purchase. This was once a self sustaining farm built in the 1950s. The farm raised cattle, pigs, chickens. There was 35 tillable acres which produced corn and oats for the livestock. The farm had its own feed grinder in the old barn. There is an old hand built cooler room where all the meat was stored. There are four wells on the farm one of which is used for watering animals and cooling alpacas on hot summer days. One of our tent sites is in the corner of our alpaca pasture. You'll hear the roosters, goats, donkeys and more than likely, Rose, our Maremma livestock guardian dog, throughout your stay.

Our property is an experiment in rewilding native plants and trees as well as the beginnings of permaculture gardening. You may also enjoy the zen paths that flow through the trees and fields. Don't mind the chickens, they're just curious. We also have two large, vaccinated dogs that roam the property, as well as barn cats. The only problem with the dogs is they're too friendly and may wanna love on you, so if dogs aren't you're thing please let us know and we'll gladly leash them while you're here with us.

Learn more about this land: Our place is close to 64 & 69. It's a late-1800's farmhouse with an antique barn situated in the middle of an industrial park, so it can be loud during the day. Since we've added a gravel parking lot for barn concerts, there are just a few camping spots. Vehicles are welcome. We sometimes have a portajohn. You can sit around a fire on our property and look at the stars at night (when there's not a fire ban). The Blue Grass Fish and Wildlife Area is a up the road. You could ride your bike there, kayak, canoe, fish, etc. Fyi, we have honeybees, so if you're allergic to honeybees stings, be equipped. The bees rarely bother us, but they can be seen feeding on clover, so wear shoes if you're allergic. Otherwise, we recommend bare feet on the ground while being conscious where you're traversing. If you're interested in herbs and/or foraging , classes may be available depending on availability/season.

Sleek Acres is a beautifully maintained property perfect for a quiet relaxing camping experience. We stayed 4 nights at the full hook-up site near the bathhouse and amazing pond. The sites were immaculate with a picnic table, fire ring and wood. We were greeted upon arrival, shown our place for the weekend and settled in easily. Lisa and Earl are exceptional hosts ~ they've worked hard at making their HipCamp inviting and obviously take pride in their land. Very kind, thoughtful, hospitable and helpful couple. While visiting the area, we attended the annual Blueberry Festival, explored Indiana Dunes National Park, enjoyed several local craft breweries and drove the backroads lined with cornfields. We travel with our 8 year old rescue pup Schatzi Blu ~ she also had fun checking out the trails, pond with turtles/ducks/fish and watching the chickens/roosters in the pen. The farm fresh chicken eggs are delicious and made our Anniversay brunch even more special! A lil slice of heaven right in Indiana!! Excellent stay!!

Lisa was very nice and helpful getting us set up. The property was clean and gorgeous. We saw hummingbirds, turtles, catfish, ducks, deer, and a blue heron. We would stay again. If you are noise sensitive, I would recommend ear plugs. We were woken up at 4 AM to a train and there is a low hum from the highway. Nothing bad but noteworthy.

We had a great time. It was so relaxing and quiet. The campground was very well maintained and beautiful. My gps got us lost and Lisa called right back with help. Earl greeted us and showed us to spot. The bathrooms and shower were very nice and clean. Loved the ducks that hung around us.

Earl and Lisa were quick to communicate when I needed any help. They were excellent kind hearted folks. Their bathrooms, showers, and sink were clean and very much appreciated. I loved their land and enjoyed my full hook up site close to their pond which had lovely scenery with a number of Mallard ducks. They also had a some cozy evening string lights which helped to get around the bathroom and sink area at night and really set the mood for great evenings. I highly recommend their lovely site for RV or tent camping.

Earl and Lisa are super kind and accommodating hosts. My sons and I enjoyed our time, playing the yard games they provided and had great bonfires with the fire starters Lisa makes. The grounds were clean, simple and lovely. The out houses were clean and easy to use. We enjoyed the full hookup site with our camper but any of the spots seemed really nice from what we could see. Only bummer was the road noise, but that's not Earl and Lisa's fault and cannot be controlled. Just know there is some road noise as the property is nearby a major road. Otherwise, we absolutely loved our stay, which provided an easy drive to the Dunes for a day trip.

The hosts went above and beyond during our short stay. Assisting with camper issues, recommending a mobile repair tech (that we used and was very professional and timely), and just generally being very nice and accommodating. Earl & Lisa are caring hosts, that checked on us and made sure we were set and had what we needed, including restocking our firewood and picking up some ice for us. The full hookup site was large enough for our 32’ pull behind toy hauler & 3/4 ton pickup. The bathrooms and shower (hottest water) were clean and well supplied. The site is nestled into a lovely area on the back of their property. There was some highway noise, but not enough to bother our sleep. We enjoyed campfires and gazing at the stars. We would definitely stay here again!

Was a wonderful place to rest our weary bodies after 12 days on road. Last stop before home. Earl and Lisa's place is wonderful. Park like setting with duck pond, stacks of wood waiting for us, and cute out house with shower and toilet. We were only ones there due to end of season and had full hook up site and it was perfect. Little road nose but really didn't really bother us.

Host mentioned more hookup sites becoming available soon. Sites have ample space between them which is welcome.

We absolutely loved our stay. Earl and Lisa are very sociable and want to guarantee that you have what you need while also having a great stay. They provide you a lovely stack of wood, a food grate to cook your food on, stocked pond for catch and release fishing, games, food for feeding the fish and ducks and a bathhouse. Glow sticks and popsicles were provided during our stay which brings out the kid in even us adults. There is a bit of road noise…but it’s too enjoyable out there to complain about that.

North Indiana

Indiana’s most Instagram-worthy landscapes can be found at the state’s northeastern boundary. Sloping dunes and sandy beaches line the southern shore of Lake Michigan, and Indiana Dunes National Park has tent and RV camping right by the beach. Further east, industrial towns pepper the road to Amish Country, where you can check into a rustic log cabin in the woods or camp by the lake in Chain O’Lakes State Park.

Central Indiana

Indiana’s central plains are dotted with laidback market towns, cornfields, and lakes. Indianapolis pulls in crowds for its summer motorsports events, most notably the famous Indy 500, but campers can easily escape the city for nearby Mccormick’s Creek State Park or Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Just to the south, Brown County is home to Monroe Lake, the state’s largest lake, hemmed in by Yellowwood State Forest and Brown County State Park.

Southern Indiana

Hilly southern Indiana is blanketed with woodlands, most notably the forested trails and canyons of Hoosier National Forest. Come in fall to hike against a backdrop of foliage or canoe along Sugar Creek, one of the state’s top paddling destinations. Further south, the Ohio River Scenic Byway draws adventurers to hike, paddle, camp, and fish.
