Family owned private campground since the 1940's. Very secluded and private. We offer a very unique experience that you will not find any public campground. I many ways we have a "private state park".
Nice trails for hiking or biking. There is even a small "race track" in the bottom bowl near the creek. There are several direct access points to the creek for fishing or wading. We have miles of marked trails that are easy for everyone.
Horseshoe Bend Main is a larger campground with four dispersed sites which a very spread out. This site has (3) 30 amp outlets for RV's. Porta potties are also provided.
The Horseshoe Bend Creekside sites are designated spots that are on the West Panther creek bank. There are porta potties, but no electric or water.

Frakers Grove Farm has been part of my family since the 1980s, but its history extends back to 1828 when Michael Fraker arrived and negotiated a peaceful settlement with the local Native American tribes, becoming the first settler in North Eastern Knox County. His grave, along with those of approximately 26 relatives and friends, is located on the property.
Camp on a 250-acre farm in Western Illinois, featuring a 1.5-acre pond stocked with Blue Gill, Crappie, Wide Mouth Bass, Catfish, and resident Grass Carp, plus a small creek. The property also has trails and abundant wildlife, including deer, American river otters, beavers, geese, wood ducks, and raccoons. A Jon boat is available for use on the pond.
We offer 1 Walk-in Camp Site and 1 Drive-In Site by the pond, each with a fire ring. RV camping is currently in a trial phase; your feedback is invaluable. This area provides primitive wooded camping behind and around the pond, with the RV site located next to the pole barn. Note: The RV site listing is not normally active, so please reach out in advance if interested. Guest WiFi is available near the buildings.
Assistance with transporting tents and supplies to and from the campsite on check-in and check-out days is available upon request.
Facilities include a Porta Potty and potable water from a yard hydrant, both located near the Pole Barn.
NOTE: This is an active farm with considerable activity involving heavy machinery during the spring and fall. We currently have chickens and are taking a break from pigs. The newly established pasture is expected to yield grass hay this year to help fund new fencing, a preparatory step for introducing cows.

My son and I loved our camping experience at Horseshoe Bend - Creekside West. Brady is an excellent host, he left firewood, a grill, and garbage receptacle at our site. He also had ample firewood available on a flatbed nearby that we could pull from if needed. Brady came out to greet us when we arrived and pointed out some trailheads and nearby sites. The property is absolutely gorgeous and having the creek run through our campsite was a real treat. We sat down next to the creek every morning and afternoon, it was so peaceful listening to the water and watching nature around us. We spied a group of deer crossing the creek under the bridge, one beaver busy doing something, and an Illinois mink scrambling across a log. The site was incredibly quiet aside from the welcomed coyote chatter and occasional nearby cow overnight. In the mornings we were welcomed by all sorts of bird song which I personally love about camping in general. This will go down as one of the best camp sites we’ve ever stayed at and there have been many. Thank you Brady for opening your beautiful property to camping enthusiasts like us!

We had such a blast camping this past weekend. Brady is an excellent host, brought us firewood directly to our campsite and making sure we had everything we needed. The bathroom was really clean, the woods were gorgeous and it was so nice to get away from the city for a reset. My dog had a great time running around off leash, the site was very well maintained; we will definitely be back!

Horseshoe Bend has quickly become one of my favorite places to camp. Brady, the host, is great and all the sites are well-maintained. The sites are also spread out in a way that you have some privacy. I've only stayed on the "main" side, but there's also several sites they call "creekside" that look really cool. My favorite feature of this campground is the walking path leading out to a beautiful forest scene. I just got back home from camping this past weekend, and while I do prefer Summer camping at Horseshoe Bend, Winter camping here was also an excellent time. Thanks again, Brady.

This camping compound is secluded! Surrounded by trees and wilderness.
I was the only one there because of the season but I can imagine how pretty it would be with trees full of leaves in warmer weather.
My 2 dogs loved running around and taking in all the new smells. Super long road was great to walk on for light exercise or if you’re feeling adventurous you can walk through the trees.
- The host reached out with directions. Waze has no idea where to go but Apple/google maps sure do. They reached out again in the evening to make sure all is well.
- location signage it’s apparent. Site location is clear but not intrusive. Brown signs vs bright colored.
- 30 amp available. Easy to use.
- cell service good (att)
- Fire ring and firewood readily available. Which was nice because it was about 20 degrees.
- environment was very quiet. Could hear coyotes singing from a far distance, birds and squirrels chattering with each other.
I would enjoy coming back during a warmer season.

I loved tent camping on Brady’s land. There was clear directions on getting there and was very spacious campground. We were the only campers there but even if there the other camp sites were full his campgrounds are nice and spread out that you still have the privacy and quiet nature experience you are looking for. Brady was also very responsive and offered extra fire wood if needed.

We had a really lovely stay overall. The ambience of the place was peaceful, beautiful, and exactly what we were hoping for. It felt like a true escape into nature. Sam was wonderful — very kind and accommodating — and even opened up the whole place for us, which made the experience feel extra special and private.
Since it was the off-season, the kids didn’t get the chance to feed the farm animals, But we understand that timing and season can affect farm activities.
Still, it was a relaxing and unique experience, and we truly appreciated the Sam’s hospitality.

We stayed here this past weekend ⛺️ and I have to say that one of the main reasons we chose this camp site was because of peoples reviews and also the Yurts 🛖 the yurts really got our attention! We got there friday and we met Sam. ( Sam is the BEST 🙌) while we were talking last details, Sam mentioned to us that next day ( Saturday) they were having a Harvest Festival! So we were going to be in between cars and people going in and out all day so we asked Sam if by any chance there was another spot available? No Yurts were available for that weekend, but then he offered us to stay in the apartments they have on the lower level of the learning center! And let me tell you what a BIG game changer 🙌 having a private bathroom and shower is a BIG + specially for women and kids 👌 we had a group of 11 people, so those apartments were more than perfect for having the family under one roof 👏. We really love and enjoyed our stay in this campground 🙌 everyone there was so nice and welcoming 👏 kids love the pizza, the back woods and the creek👌 we had the BEST weather ever 🙌 sunny mornings, chilly and quiet nights😮💨🔥 I will definitely have to go back to stay in a Yurt, or in my tent in the woods✅ and again THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING SAM 👏.

This was our second stay and we will be back! With a bunch of little kids, the farm has really everything you need to make camping easy. The tent is set up perfectly for just showing up and camping. Our kids loved meeting the animals too!

We absolutely loved our time at the Hungry World Farm. Not only is Sam accommodating and kind, the Farm is a great cause that we will not hesitate to recommend to those we know looking for either a quick getaway or a breath from daily life. We had the *best* glamping tent and even got to spend time with a cute farm kitty that wandered into our site. The farm tour was informative, and the vegetables we had the pleasure of getting were delicious!

If you’re looking for a getaway and the vibe of a public campground is not appealing, this is the place for you. All of the reviews here are spot on. An enjoyable drive through scenic farmland takes you to the oasis of Horseshoe Bend. Despite dry conditions in the area the grounds were green with a cool morning mist. Brady is a great host helping me pick the perfect spot and making sure there was enough firewood on hand. Highly recommend!

We loved our tent camping weekend at Horseshoe Bend. We have a camper and decided to tent camp since we haven't in many years. We picked the perfect place!! Our site was right on the creek and next to an old bridge. Perfect! The site was very spacious with plenty of trees for shade and hammock hanging. We listened to the wildlife all day (and night. The sound of birds & coyote are exactly what we were looking for:) The stars at night were amazing! We walked the trails through the woods with our dog and just had such a peaceful weekend. If you're looking for a reset this is exactly what you will find. Everywhere we went it was clean & quiet. There were other people there but only saw a few because the sites are so spread out. We had an amazing time and will definitely return!!

Me and my wife really enjoyed the time we spent at this farm! Beautiful, nice and a serene getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Dennis was an awesome guy and responsive to all of our question's we had. We stayed for 3 nights and look forward to coming back in the spring. Dennis explained what he wanted to do with the pond (adding a dock and dredging) to make it an even better experience. We did not take his hospitality for granted. It is an awesome thing that a farmer would lend out a piece of his land right on a private pond for you to enjoy. Truly remarkable thing and one we will never forget. Thank you Dennis for being yourself and inviting us in! For those that stay here just remember to leave it just the way you came. I know that’s a given but some people just don’t think about that stuff so just a friendly reminder. This place is gorgeous!

This was a gorgeous spot in a large property situated in the wooded area near various farms. The campground was full of thoughtful touches (super clean porta potty, hot shower, well-mowed sites and trails, stacked firewood) that made it very easy to stay a few days and give our city pup the trip of her life! Will definitely be back as soon as as we can.
