Angell Creek Campground is located in beautiful Island Park Idaho. It has been in our family for over 50 years. We are surrounded by pine trees, and it is a quiet place to escape the noise of the world. It is a place to recharge and enjoy the outdoors. Our campsite is close to West Yellowstone and only 30 mi. from Yellowstone National Park. Island Park has a lot to offer including: boating, waterskiing, fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, trail riding and much more. All of these activities are within a few minutes away. We are in close proximity to highway 20 and easy access to services and dining. We have a very large parking area where you can park trailers and vehicles. We have about 3 acres and have 5 RV spots. We have a central sheltered picnic area and a big fire pit on each RV spot. Each pad is rented at $35 a night with provided 50 and 20 amp service with an adapter provided for 30 amp service. No water or sewer is provided. There is a porta potty on location from mid May until end of October. Must pack out all of your trash or be a accessed a cleaning fee per lot. Although wanting to keep this campground in a primitive state, we will be adding a few updates in coming years. Pets allowed on a leash only.

The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance.
Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

Yellowstone National Park is an 80 minute drive, though accessing the property requires a 5.5 mile drive on a dirt road, a total of 25 minutes from Ashton. High clearance vehicles are recommended.
Campfire ring near outdoor kitchen for your evening gatherings. Lots of firewood for you to use - please don’t be wasteful.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS for those who book:
• Please no food down the drain in the cabin - please limit the amount of water as it is just a small French drain for the grey water
• Electrical system is a solar system that can easily be overloaded. If the fridge is turned on, no other appliances can be used. And the small fridge can only be turned on during the day. No toasters, curling irons, blenders.
• Please keep toilet lid down and toilet paper enclosed in the plastic container in the outhouse when not in use, otherwise critters get to it and chew it up.
• There is no running water in the cabin. There is a large 5 gallon water cooler that can be filled with cold water for drinking. The smaller 2 gallon container can be filled with hot water for washing hands.
•Adjacent neighbors have been complaining about renters being on their property. Do not walk over the berm or past fencing. Please obey “NO TRESPASSING” signs!

Our free-standing tiny cabins are located in our RV park with beautiful views of Ashton Hill. Cabins are approximately 400 sq feet, featuring a separate bedroom with two queen rooms and full closets, full bathroom, kitchen/dinette and cozy living space with a pull-out sofa. Don’t forget to enjoy the sunsets on your private outdoor porches! Eagle Peak Provisions are available for purchase at the hotel lobby for our guests with a variety of dietary preferences.
RV & Tent Sites
We are located at 164 and 205 White Pines Avenue, Ashton, Idaho 83420, kitty corner to the lodge. Most sites are pull-through, but we never have an issue with guests pulling in or out of our perimeter spots, as we can take up to 66-foot rigs. Sites have full hook-ups including water, sewer, and power with both 50-amp + 30-amp options.
At this time, sites do not offer cable TV at our RV campground.. Dedicated bathrooms/showers are NOT available at the RV sites. Our rooms do have private bathrooms and cable TV (Direct TV). Our community has a great laundromat within about half-a-mile of our property.

Starlight retreat was so serene and comfortable. Our family had just come from 3 nights tent camping in Yellowstone and needed showers and a real bed. We were warmly welcomed, provided clean towels, and all had hot showers in the shower trailers. I love how accommodating the property is and that it’s totally off the grid.
We had big thunderstorms from 6 pm til after dark the night we stayed, so we didn’t get to have a campfire and s’mores. But, the view of the rainstorm in our family bell tent made up for it! We did get to utilize the play equipment (tetherball, rings, hammocks, swings) before the storm.

The spot that I had felt like it had a little bit more privacy to it, since it was stuck in between some trees, and I really enjoyed the little gazebo!! a very wonderful campground, especially for the price in that area!!

Loved everything about it. The cabins had more than we expected, and we were pleasantly surprised. Bathrooms & showers were conveniently located next to the cabins. The staff was wonderful, and super helpful. Loved the views of the lake, especially at night around a firepit after a long day at Yellowstone. Will definitely be checking to see if they're available the next time we're coming back.

I really liked this property! The tents are nestled amongst the trees, not too close together and are surrounded by lovely wildflowers! The communal outdoor kitchen,fire pit and play area are perfect for diy and family travelers. Our tent and beds were clean and well appointed. First let me say we had a lovely stay. The setting was magical and peaceful. We stayed two weeks over the 4th of July. No issues once the ground dried.

What Did Not Work Well:
**Listing & Trash: Photos made layout confusing, & there was no trash can/dumpster provided.
**Big Rig Access: We are a 44-foot 5th wheel toy hauler with a dually truck (66 feet total) and 100 gallons of fresh water.
**Getting Stuck: Sunk and got stuck entering the driveway and in Spot 5 due to rain, soft ground and lack of heavy gravel reinforcement.
**Leveling & Road: Hard to stay level on soft ground. The narrow, steep entrance road caused RV to tilt (watch out for tree branches).
**Yellowstone Distance: About 40 minutes to the park, but construction and traffic pushed round trips to 4+ hours, plus park wait times.
**Note: Nearest dump and fill is 7 miles down US20 ("Last Chance Dump & Fill").
## Recommendation:
Despite the listing, we *would NOT recommend* this for RVs over 36 feet using the power pedestal spots due to weight & soft ground.
*We would stay here again in a smaller, lighter RV, now that we've already been to the park.

Camp Steele Head was our first Hipcamp stay, and a great introduction. The campsite was easy to locate, level, quiet, and private. We were able to back our 33ft trailer 21ft truck into site #2. We didn't use the grassy lawn but would be nice if you had tents. Hosts offer firewood on site for small fee and provided a large firepit. Bear boxes were available too. convenient location for exploring Island Park and jump off for an early entrance to West Yellowstone. We loved our morning walks down to the Moose River, and one of the highlights of our stay was floating the Henry’s Fork, where we were lucky enough to see a mama moose and her calf. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
