This is a very private and quiet place, more of a sanctuary and not a party place. The only thing you hear is nature, a breeze through the pine trees, the birds, and the creek. This property was and is an organic permaculture farm in the forest. There are two orchards and an organic garden. The water is from a spring. The La Luna cabin is no longer off grid, but if the power does go out, it's a great place to be.. Hot Showers at my cabins are private and outdoors. There's nothing more wonderful than a hot spring-fed shower. The toilets are composting. (No water is wasted here)! Two of the cabins were built from the trees on the property by the first family that lived here in the earlier 1900s. The Birds Nest cabin was originally a tool shed that needed a LOT of Love to be in the condition that it is today. It does have power, running water and wi-fi. There is the option to take an acrylic painting class, banjo, guitar or fiddle lessons, paddleboard lessons, and have a real old-timey campfire with a glass of wine or two with live music performed by our famous Fiddlin Red on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Your experience here may change your life forever! We haven't added all the experiential options yet, so if there is something you are interested in please inquire. Every year we make it more and more magical and interesting. It's four miles up a county-maintained dirt road and one mile to a non-motorized lake. I can't see my neighbors, but they are awesome artists and musicians and some of them are off the grid! If you're bringing a pet, they must be on a leash and be quiet pets. If you are bringing a child they also need to be quiet and respectful. I want to keep my neighbors and my other guests happy with a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you!

Our property is located on 7 forested acres a few miles from Sandpoint. We have a few different houses on the property where parts of my family live. There are 3 rental spots that are all creek side and next to each other. You can wade in the shallow creek, swim in the pond, enjoy a walk up the road or camp area and just enjoy your camp spot surrounded by the forest and creek. There are also many trails and adventures within a 15 min drive of the property. We have a few dogs that live on property and like to come say hi to the campers and play fetch. The dogs are all friendly, but we ask that any guests bringing their own dogs please keep them on a leash as we do not know how they would all interact each other or local wildlife.

Don't tell anyone, but Schweitzer Mountain is an absolute gem of a ski resort with 2,900 acres of gorgeous skiing terrain (and epic views) for all ages and skill levels. Our family spends a good bit of time skiing here. Winter Driveway Access: a 4-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicle is required to climb our driveway during winter conditions. OUR STORY: We (Tim and Molly) spent 14 years raising our young family in the desert heat of north Phoenix. Every summer we went dispersed camping as many weekends as possible with our four (now five) children in the backcountry mountain ranges of northern Arizona. We watched our family grow stronger together and sibling relationships flourish as the mental and emotional grime of the city grind was slowly washed from our souls during idle morning hangouts, afternoon hiking adventures and evening stories and laughs around the campfire. We had a particularly amazing mountaintop experience in 2014 backcountry camping over Labor Day Weekend where we felt a strong calling to share with others the blessings we were experiencing. Our hearts were impressed with a desire to host a place in the "wilderness" where people and families could escape and unwind from the noise and pace of city life for a few days and maybe even have a mountaintop experience of their own. After several years of waiting for the right timing, we started exploring and found this place in January 2019. By April we had sold our home in Phoenix and moved our family 2,000 miles north to this 27 acre property on a mountain of Hope. We named it Maverick Mountain Home, which captures our love of the wilderness, our mission to care for the lost, and our desire to be unbranded by the world. Upon landing here we immediately got to work preparing. We've spent the last five years working on hundreds of different projects, including: rehabilitating our driveway, beginning a long-term whole-house remodel, building a chicken coop, maintaining our driveway, fencing in a new orchard, chicken yard, and pig yard, planting trees, replacing a spring house, maintaining our driveway, installing underground infrastructure for future guest facilities, clearing trails, milling lumber, and maintaining our driveway. In 2024 we dedicated a good portion of April and May to preparing our first HipCamp site, Living Water, which went live on our wedding anniversary at the end of May. We added our second site, Boondock Butte in July with plans for several more sites in coming years. Since the first booking on our opening weekend we've watched as that line from "Field of Dreams" came true in our "backyard" - we built it and they started coming. Feels like we're in the country but we live on a paved county road and only 4 miles from the city of Priest River. Bring your boat for a trip on the Pend Oreille River to Lake Pend Oreille. Launching is a short distance away at the Mud Hole, Priest River City Beach or Riley Creek Campground. Try your hand at fishing for bass, kokanee, perch, northern pike, and trout in the river or on the lake. Wake up in a peaceful woodsy setting where elk, deer, the occasional moose and turkeys roam the property and are often seen in the meadow. Load up your ATV, side by side or motorcycle and head for Priest Lake right from here. It’s a 21 mile (40 minute ride) to Coolin, ID. Enjoy the back county and take some of the IDL roads along the way to explore scenic drainages and in July/August pick some luscious huckleberries (the state fruit of Idaho) for a pancake or milkshake treat. Park your RV, overland rig, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars next to the Coeur D’ Alene River. Be advised this is directly next to State Highway 3. If you are a light sleeper, or road noise bothers you, this is not the campsite for you. At the camp, you can launch your kayaks at the river to go for an adventure down through the Chain Lakes, all eight are accessible by the river adjacent to where you will sleep. The bird and wildlife watching in this area is world class. Ospreys, hawks, turkeys and other animals commonly hang out in these parts. You can go for a swim at one of the sandbars, take your dirt bikes or side by sides down Killarney Lake Road to access an extensive network of trails and dirt roads into remote wilderness. There is no cell service, no water or electrical hookups, or toilet. As beautiful as it is, your experience will not be “glamping” unless you come with all the comforts you personally desire. You can hunt on the forest service land by 4th of July Pass, fish on the river, or on the Chain Lakes (with the proper permits, of course). There is a access into the water from camp but it is quite steep. For easy access to the water, use the docks or boat launch at Killarney Lake or Bull Run. Pets and kids are allowed at your own risk. Be advised the highway and river are hazardous for off-leash animals and rambunctious toddlers. Please send a message if you have any questions. I am happy to help.

Hiking and biking, stargazing, kite flying, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Ski/snowboard at Schweitzer only 45 min drive to the mountain. Boat launch 2 miles away. A couple of mooring balls available, ask on availability. Shallow, soft, clay bottom. Two sandy beaches shared with Hipcampers and family. We have 4 kids. The beach with the dock between site 1 and 2 is also used by our family as well. Our place is a relaxed atmosphere and we enjoy meeting new campers visiting us. We do this because we enjoy sharing our space with others.

Here’s your permission slip to disappear for a bit. This is 14 acres of private, undeveloped forest land at the base of Bald Mountain in northeastern Washington. No water, no toilet, no electricity—just trees, creeks, and whatever the heck you need to work out with nature. There are no designated campsites. You’ll choose your own spot—flat, forested, tucked-away, or by the seasonal creek. Some areas are cut away just enough to help keep the ticks out of your underwear (you’re welcome), but this is still very much wild land. You’ll find: • Towering evergreens • Snowberries, serviceberries, and wild grasses. Moss covered rocks and perhaps a spot we have yet to discover. • Mosquitoes (don’t say we didn’t warn you) • A whole lot of space to wander, both literally and figuratively This site is best suited for tent campers, car campers, backpackers, and solitude seekers. Artists, writers, and wandering weirdos are especially welcome. Trailers UNDER 22 feet only. Because of the primitive terrain we are not set up for anything over 22 feet. Please do NOT BRING anything larger. We truly appreciate it. Camper vans would do well at Primitive Acres. The land is remote, about 30 minutes from Spokane and 10 minutes from Loon Lake, and you likely won’t see another soul—but there are neighboring parcels nearby, each about 20 acres in size. You’ll feel alone, but not abandoned. No generators, no parties, no pets off leash. Pack it in, pack it out. No fires unless permitted. This isn’t a resort, but it’s definitely a reset. Come prepared. Come curious. Come undone, if you need to. WARNING: wild animals do roam through here. We ask that you watch your pets and keep them on leash for their safety. The neighbors also have a friendly old dog who likes to wander.

I had a peaceful and quiet time at this lovely property. I booked for the weekend and ended up being the only one there. Will was a great host and checked in on me daily. My dog and I had a wonderful time. We chilled in the morning, had a swim in the lovely pond, a nice walk and a nap then sat by the fire in the evening. Couldn't be better. We enjoyed our stay at Sara's spot. The river was peaceful and she had all the things needed to have a pleasant experience - picnic table, lawn chairs, inner tube floaters and my favorite a glider rocking bench. When booking the site we thought we could drive in and out of the place to visit relatives in Spokane. Sara's place was perfectly situated to the city however the rough and rutty road to her rv parking spot was not something we wanted to drive on every day. Fortunately we found some different solutions and Sara was very patience and accommodating to our situation. She also communicates well through hip camp texting.

We went out riding to the Bedroom Goldmine Bar, huckleberry picking and checked out Glideen Lake. Close to town too for going out to dinner or walk around town.

Our entire party (3 campers) enjoyed Lisa’s land. We played corn hole on her lovely green lawn. Listened to the rushing creek at night. Went side by siding into the gorgeous scenery nearby and took the short trip to Wallace Idaho for some good food and drinks. We will be coming back each summer.

Where to go

Farragut State Park

With hundreds of individual campsites for RVs and tents, plus cabins and group camps, Farragut State Park in Coeur d’Alene Mountains boasts an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. Tree to Tree is a zipline park with wild swings and treetop rope courses for adventurers ages six and up. Farragut is also home to several disc golf courses, from Little Black Bear for beginners to Cutthroat for more experienced players. After a day in the trees, park at one of the many RV campsites in Farragut that have water and electricity hookups, plus shared showers with modern restrooms.

Heyburn State Park

The oldest state park in the Pacific Northwest, Heyburn State Park features Chatcolet, Benewah, and Hidden Lakes for terrific fishing, boating, and water sports. The meandering St. Joe River is another option for kayaking or canoeing past towering Ponderosa pine trees and flower-filled meadows. Spend the night amongst the trees at cottage and cabin rentals that offer comfortable amenities like furnished kitchens, charcoal grills, and outdoor picnic tables. Or go to a lakeside tent and RV campground near children’s playgrounds and indoor shower facilities.

Coeur d'Alene National Forest

Head deep into the woods at Coeur d’Alene National Forest, part of Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Explore the lush evergreen mountains while keeping an eye out for local wildlife, including woodland caribou, bald eagles, grizzly bears, muskrats, and black-backed woodpeckers. Hike the Bell Bay Trail around Lake Coeur d’Alene, or take a dip in the lake for a refreshing swim. When the day is done, stay at well-appointed campgrounds with drinking water and firepits in wooded valleys near peaceful Beauty Creek.

When to go

Camping near Coeur d’Alene is most comfortable from late spring through early fall, when temperatures hover in the high-50s to low-60s during the day. Watch out for slippery or muddy sections on hiking trails following rainfall or snowmelt. Summer is the busiest and hottest time to visit, with daytime highs approaching the mid-80s, and there are very few rainy days.
