As all the land here is born of lava, many moons ago this land began to host plants and critters. Long after, it was sculpted and a number of families and farmers have contributed to what we have today. An abundance of fruit and vegetables within sight of the ocean. Peaceful breezes and warming sun make for unparalleled tranquility. Today the land still gives back to its visitors. Come recharge. As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others. The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain. There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby. It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community. As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go. Our road is paved, but bumpy. The common area consists of a large deck with picnic tables, Wifi access (pw: pickalltheweeds), power strips for charging electronics, canopies for when it rains, a 2-burner hotplate for cooking, pots, pans, plates, utensils, cups, dry food storage and a full sized fridge with freezer. Please keep the area clean. We also offer morning Breakfast Basket options: Small basket $ - 2 Papayas, 6 bananas, 2 cups of coffee. Large basket $ - 4 papayas, 10 bananas, morning coffee during your stay. Please keep in mind the fruit may vary depending on what is ripe. We live on 20 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there. You don’t need a 4WD to get to our place, but you will need a SUV or truck. Go slow the road is bumpy and rough in places. We are 1.2 miles from the highway. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. Shared bathroom (see photos) about a 100 feet away. Hipcamp kitchenette includes a propane single burner, ice chest, No fridge. No oven. We have an outdoor fire pit, if you like campfires! It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is plenty of coffee and tea in the kitchenette. Boil hot water in the kettle, put cone filter with a paper filter and ground coffee inside and on top of thermos. Drip. It's delicious! This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and Tmobile work also The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! The back 15 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve. We have beautiful furnished cabins with beds, so you don't have to pitch a tent. Pillows, blankets, fresh towels provided.

There is always a relaxing spot on Bear's island, offering a shady perimeter of large native trees, a nice place for some sun or an evening fire to sit back, talk story and be amazed by the millions of stars unseen anywhere else on the planet. If you enjoy a farming or gardening experience, there is never a shortage of options. Just a few short miles away is Kilauea volcano (I'm on the safe side of the rift zone), which began erupting December 2024. Often shooting lava 1,000 feet above the caldera rim, it is a force of nature rarely seen by most. Just on the other side of the mountain awaits sprawling mountain views, Punalu'u Bakery, and a gorgeous black sand beach featuring one of the few places in the world that hosts a sea turtle resting sanctuary and viewing area. And there is always the coconut guy to show you how it's done! Hilo Bay is a 20+ minute drive, boasts waterfront shopping, fantastic restaurants and bakeries, a daily farmer's market and much more. Just north of Hilo is the scenic Hamakua Coast where you can hike through the rainforest and Waipio Valley Lookout, complete with wild horses. Back at Volcano, there a few things of note: The weather is TYPICALLY 72°-61°, not too windy or overcast. It can also be rainy for extended periods. Cabin is secluded, primitive, rustic, off-grid. There is a twin bed, mosquito net, dresser, room for a sleeping bag and a bathhouse with toilet/solar shower. Device charging available. A case of bottle water is included. It was the most beautiful, amazing property and they made us feel right at home immediately! They have many acres and places for you to park your vehicles or pop up your tents or both, they have a bathroom, a shower and a bath bathtub which is awesome! We just shower always at the beach because that’s the only thing we do is go out into the ocean on the side! I would highly recommend staying here. It’s beautiful and the most unexplainable way. I grew up homicide. I live HILO side for five years now, but this was undiscovered Land for us, and it was a true treasure to find!

We camped in our campervan on Kelly’s land. It was a great stay, the property is gorgeous and we loved playing with the dogs. The bathroom/shower facilities were amazing. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re camping.

We camped in our campervan and it was easy parking, quiet and level. Make sure you communicate with the camp before getting there as we didn’t have cell service once there and the starlink did not show up on our phones. Also make sure you screen shot the route or download your map app.

A somewhat dusty but otherwise lovely spot in the middle of nowhere. Well maintained port-o-potty. Curious sheep under a spectacular milky-way night sky, shooting stars included. We got free fresh fruit in the morning. Thanks! :)

Weekend Trip to The Tranquil Homestead

Lodging was clean, well maintained, and had everything you could really ask for; full kitchen (including stove and oven), hot shower, ceiling fan above the bed, nice little deck out front. The location is fantastic, it's at the back of the farm so sitting on the deck looking out you have a nice view of the rainbow eucalyptus trees, palm patches, and meadows, and total privacy to enjoy a morning coffee in peace. Hosts were amazing, very friendly and welcoming. Oh and there's ducks and peafowl all over who are very friendly and will come up to you for food. My only issue was that I didn't stay longer.

We absolutely loved it! Great location, private, tropical setting. It is awesome to go to bed with the rainforest sounds in the background. Wel maintained and clean cottage. We loved the ducks coming over to say hello in the morning (and that goes double for our 8 year old.)without waking us up. And if you never had duck eggs before : they are delicious! Esther and Christopher are great host, friendly, patient and helpful.

What a wonderful stay- even though we didn’t get much time there! Almost as soon as we parked the host came out and let us know the volcano was active- so we left and didn’t get back til most 4am. We loved being able to pet the cats and dogs on property and feast on the fruit/nut trees. I did get bit by a centipede while walking in the fruit grove right before we left so keep an eye out! Lovely visit!

There are covered one rooms with bed and battery pack for low use charging and a light. There is an outdoor shower and portable potty. Brian (local) watches the place and is with intersting stories and island guide if you inquire. Great off the beaten path for travels on the south side with easy close access to 11 and around 30 minutes to south point and slightly further to the Kilauea. Great sunrise and view of volcanos in distance !!
