We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific.
We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 11-6 daily including holidays! We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold.
We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more. We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow. We have peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig. Not to mention our friendly farm cats.
Our current camp sites are not in the fruit orchard, but in a rolling hills open pasture land near the fruit stand. It is rustic and pastoral.
We are a community of a few passionate farmers and fruit lovers. There’s a family- myself Rose, my partner Matthew and our daughter Mela, plus several awesome guys and girls who help out in different areas to grow our lives together!

Camping equipment is available upon request and the cottage is furnished with a basic kitchen. The grounds also include a screen room with a grill, tables, chairs and a fire pit. Local fruits and vegetables are grown on the property and the greenhouse provides food. Solitude is available for those who seek silence and immersion in nature and a number of state and county beaches are within a forty minute drive. The focus is providing a quiet environment and an opportunity for solitude away from the distractions of urban lifestyles. Beaches are about forty five minutes and the drive to Hilo is about 25 miles.

As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others.
The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain.
There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby.
It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community.
As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go.
Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads.

Volcano National Park is 19 miles from our home and will take about 30 minutes to drive. We are 18 miles from Hilo Farmers Market/downtown Hilo and again should take about 30 minutes. Pahoa area is 20 miles from us and just past a 30 minute drive. When surf and ocean conditions allow you may enjoy kayaking, swimming, diving, fishing, surfing and seasonal whale and dolphin watching.
As camp hosts we will provide the best guidance during your stay and are available for more intimate one on one assistance with your choice of activities should you need. Please specify what your intentions for this camp experience are during our meeting at the valley lookout.
As active farmer gardeners we are seeking extra hands in work projects and welcome long stay extensions involving a work trade agreement. Be sure to let us know if you are interested in this option to extend your stay.

For guests unfamiliar with the Big Island, it is not like the other islands people travel to. If Oahu is more Americanized, the Big Island is still more of a Polynesian Island. Our property allows guests to enjoy a genuine local experience.
The cabins have power and endless hot water. All water on property is rainwater harvested from our roof!
At night your ears will be greeted by the forest with sounds of coqui frogs. Many people love them 🐸 Please search for Bathing Suits and Rain Boots on YouTube to find a video of what our property sounds like at night. Our channel also features videos of tours we offer. More to be uploaded, check back often! Our tours include off the beaten path adventures ranging from sunrises and geothermal Kings baths, to prawn hunting to hikes that lead to waterfalls! They are all local gems that you will not find online or offered by any other tour guide agency. We are updating our ig @bathingsuitsandrainboots regularly with footage from adventures as well!
Beach gear such as surf boards, boogie boards and snorkel gear is also available. There is a detailed welcome packet with a variety of mostly free but some paid must see/do activities on the island!
There are a total of 4 cabins on the one acre lot. The owners are on property, other guests may or may not be here as well. There is a dog Valentine, two outdoor cats named Ghost and Tomi, and chickens/ducks.
Each cabin has a queen mattress. We rent both cabins out for larger groups.
Jungle massages are available on site starting at $100 for the hour.

We are at 1880ft elevation so it can get chilly at night. Winters are also rainy season so if traveling to the Big Island in the winter, I suggest some light layers for warmth, a raincoat and rain boots.

We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific.
We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 11-6 daily including holidays! We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold.
We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more. We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow. We have peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig. Not to mention our friendly farm cats.
Our current camp sites are not in the fruit orchard, but in a rolling hills open pasture land near the fruit stand. It is rustic and pastoral.
We are a community of a few passionate farmers and fruit lovers. There’s a family- myself Rose, my partner Matthew and our daughter Mela, plus several awesome guys and girls who help out in different areas to grow our lives together!

The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain.
There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby.
It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community.
As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go.
Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads.

Volcano National Park is 19 miles from our home and will take about 30 minutes to drive. We are 18 miles from Hilo Farmers Market/downtown Hilo and again should take about 30 minutes. Pahoa area is 20 miles from us and just past a 30 minute drive. As active farmer gardeners we are seeking extra hands in work projects and welcome long stay extensions involving a work trade agreement. Be sure to let us know if you are interested in this option to extend your stay.

For guests unfamiliar with the Big Island, it is not like the other islands people travel to. If Oahu is more Americanized, the Big Island is still more of a Polynesian Island. Our property allows guests to enjoy a genuine local experience.
The cabins have power and endless hot water. All water on property is rainwater harvested from our roof!
At night your ears will be greeted by the forest with sounds of coqui frogs. Many people love them 🐸 Please search for Bathing Suits and Rain Boots on YouTube to find a video of what our property sounds like at night. Our channel also features videos of tours we offer. More to be uploaded, check back often! Our tours include off the beaten path adventures ranging from sunrises and geothermal Kings baths, to prawn hunting to hikes that lead to waterfalls! Beach gear such as surf boards, boogie boards and snorkel gear is also available. There is a detailed welcome packet with a variety of mostly free but some paid must see/do activities on the island!
There are a total of 4 cabins on the one acre lot. The owners are on property, other guests may or may not be here as well. There is a dog Valentine, two outdoor cats named Ghost and Tomi, and chickens/ducks.
Each cabin has a queen mattress. We rent both cabins out for larger groups.
Jungle massages are available on site starting at $100 for the hour.
Please note the main image capturing a lava cliff sunrise is not visible from the cabin. It is about a 30-40 minute drive from us 🌊 ☀️ 🌋
We are at 1880ft elevation so it can get chilly at night. Winters are also rainy season so if traveling to the Big Island in the winter, I suggest some light layers for warmth, a raincoat and rain boots.

We spent a few nights in Chris and Esther’s cute little cabin and truly felt at home. The cabin has everything you need and is beautifully surrounded by nature. Small frogs sing you a lullaby at night, and ducks welcome you in the morning. Our kids especially loved the ducks and peacocks!
We had plenty of privacy, along with great support from Chris and Esther whenever we needed it. An additional advantage of staying here is that it’s an off-grid place, so even during storms, when the public electricity is down, you still have power.
The location is also great — very close to Volcanoes National Park, which made exploring the area easy and convenient.
We had a wonderful stay at Tropical Duck and an amazing experience with the hosts — we would love to come back one day.

Weekend Trip to Hamakua Guesthouse
The cabana was nice. Sleeping in a hammock is not for everyone but if you can do it, this is a great place to stay. The common ameneties were great and the staff on the property were exceptional. The waterfall was also very nice. Would definitely go back in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Green/Black Sand Pt. Hipcamp. The site is on the Belt Road and very convenient to local attractions. It has flush toilet and shower facilities as well as a covered patio. We were there during the recent Kona Low storm so the added amenities were very welcome. Robert and Nancy were wonderfully gracious hosts.

Weekend Trip to Hamakua Christmas Tree Forest
The host was very responsive. The view from the simple accommodations was beautiful. We were a little surprised to find that the outdoor shower was a garden hose but it all worked. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we were in the area. Thanks for hosting.

Just as described—it was fabulous and the full (nearly) moon rising over the ocean was amazing! Nancy greeted us with warm homemade banana bread! The set up is simple and works well! Linens were great!

Weekend Trip to Mocean View Inn
We loved staying at Dawn’s Mermaid Lair! It was exactly as described. We stayed two nights. It is a great location for arriving from Kailua-Kona, visiting Volcanoes NP for a day, and setting us up for Hilo and points north the following day. The kitchen was lovely and had everything we needed to prepare simple meals for ourselves. Dawn is lovely and knowledgeable and we enjoyed talking with her.

The meadow is soft for sleeping on and in the morning we could see the ocean in the distance. Lots of different plants and trees including a big tree that smells like cinnamon and sounds like a rain stick when the breeze blows. It is a long bumpy road but Colin will give good directions. There is a grocery store mall not far away for supplies (and rest rooms)

1 night at The Kikala Waterfall Lodge
The cabins were small, pleasant places of quiet with just the river rushing past and the birds singing. Loved sitting on the front porch with my tea.
Axel was responsive when we had a small issue and it was resolved in minutes. The main lodge had a kitchen (no stove but a microwave) and 2 bathrooms with showers. Saw goats and staff working in the garden.
All in all, a nice place to rest for a couple days.

With kids
The land is gorgeous, full of fruit trees and flowers. It is a working farm so expect the sounds and smells of such. You also share the building with the owner (separate entrances but not sound proof). We loved the hammock and breakfasts on the porch. It’s not for everyone but a very special place for the right guests.

We stayed here for a night with two sleeping cars and one tent, you got plenty of space. Colin was very nice and always available for helping us. The road to get there is a bit bumpy but nothing too crazy.
