Once your camp is set, you will be walking distance from a potable spring, waterfalls, a black sand beach, Waipio stream and Waimanu Valley campground 9 miles on the Muliwai wilderness reserve trail. Wild horses, birds, pigs and farmers are commonly scene throughout the valley. When surf and ocean conditions allow you may enjoy kayaking, swimming, diving, fishing, surfing and seasonal whale and dolphin watching.
As camp hosts we will provide the best guidance during your stay and are available for more intimate one on one assistance with your choice of activities should you need. Please specify what your intentions for this camp experience are during our meeting at the valley lookout.
As active farmer gardeners we are seeking extra hands in work projects and welcome long stay extensions involving a work trade agreement. Be sure to let us know if you are interested in this option to extend your stay.

Blue Dragon Hot Yoga is a Private Membership Association offering preparation and support for the transformation of a lifetime! We offer daily Hot Yoga classes, 1-4 week Yoga Immersion programs, and yearly retreats.
As a retreat space, we often host guests who are on cleanses and/or dieta, so it is of utmost priority to keep the energy on the land pure and clear. Therefore, there is no smoking of any kind, alcohol consumption, or taking of plant medicine while on site. We ask that you show up with your full presence, without the influence of any other energies. We have quiet hours before 7:30 am and after 7:30 pm to honor the retreat atmosphere. Wi-Fi hours are from 7 am to 8 pm; please let us know if you need the Wi-Fi outside of these hours. We encourage you to leave your devices off as much as possible to receive from the healing frequency of the Earth.
Blue Dragon Hot Yoga is an also permaculture homestead featuring many hugelkulture garden beds growing staple foods like taro, pumpkin, cassava, sweet potato, and local greens. We have many young fruit trees in the ground and are blessed to have some mature trees currently producing banana, papaya, rollenia, & avocado. In addition to growing food, we are also raising many animals and two children! You will see the girls up early in the morning playing with our three temple cats.
We are committed to living in harmony with the land, and as such we are mostly off-grid and catch our own water. We sort all of our trash meticulously for recycling. Currently plastic is NOT recycled on this island, so our Kuleana (responsibility) is to buy as little plastic as possible. We use only biodegradable and eco-friendly soaps, shampoo, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, etc. It’s a great experience in taking small actions to show our love to the ’āina (the land).

Location: The site says we are in Leilani Estates, but actually we are located south of there, only 3 minutes from the coast, only 5 min to a black sand beach, only 15-20 min to natural geothermally heated hot ponds you can soak in, and approximately 50 min drive to Volcano, Pele's home.
(You will happily receive the actual address once you book! )
Our space is best for nature lovers, with several half open walls, as you will feel the elements and be serenaded by the frogs at night! Our kitchen is very simple. and our bathhouse has a flush toilet, and warm shower. We have electricity and lighting indoors, but there are no streetlights, because our neighborhood values stargazing, which is amazing here!
A few last details:
We will provide bath towels and there is soap in the shower for your use, as well.
Cell service- AT andT and Cricket cell service works best in our area.
The floor is earthen, so we have rugs, and clean it regularly, but it will appear rustic.
We do have a mosquito net over the bed, for folks who would like to use it.
And lastly, we have 2 social outdoor cats, that you aren't likely to see, but just might stop by and say hello!

Located on the 1983 lava flow field. There are uneven surfaces that require careful attention but is safe for the adventurous and fit. No annoying croaking frogs and no mosquitos makes this sea level location with blue water ocean views and trade wind breezes a perfect paradise with very little rain and lots of sunshine. There a 10' x 12' raised deck gazebo with a picnic table and ample surfaces for exercising and stretch yoga. We are a few minutes from the black sand clothing optional beach and clean ocean soaking/swimming and Uncle Robert's Wednesday night music extravaganza. There are refrigerators available and a composting toilet and a hot water shower for conservative water showering as all water must be transported in. The advantage is very little rain and lots of sunshine makes this location a pleasure with fluffy clouds to look at that don't get you wet!!! 2 furnished small houses and a gazebo with ample parking space and solar charging for electronics. Starlink WiFi is available and will provide connectivity and cell phone links !

Once your camp is set, you will be walking distance from a potable spring, waterfalls, a black sand beach, Waipio stream and Waimanu Valley campground 9 miles on the Muliwai wilderness reserve trail. Wild horses, birds, pigs and farmers are commonly scene throughout the valley. When surf and ocean conditions allow you may enjoy kayaking, swimming, diving, fishing, surfing and seasonal whale and dolphin watching.
As camp hosts we will provide the best guidance during your stay and are available for more intimate one on one assistance with your choice of activities should you need. Please specify what your intentions for this camp experience are during our meeting at the valley lookout.
As active farmer gardeners we are seeking extra hands in work projects and welcome long stay extensions involving a work trade agreement. Be sure to let us know if you are interested in this option to extend your stay.

As a retreat space, we often host guests who are on cleanses and/or dieta, so it is of utmost priority to keep the energy on the land pure and clear. Therefore, there is no smoking of any kind, alcohol consumption, or taking of plant medicine while on site. We ask that you show up with your full presence, without the influence of any other energies. We have quiet hours before 7:30 am and after 7:30 pm to honor the retreat atmosphere. Wi-Fi hours are from 7 am to 8 pm; please let us know if you need the Wi-Fi outside of these hours. We encourage you to leave your devices off as much as possible to receive from the healing frequency of the Earth.
Blue Dragon Hot Yoga is an also permaculture homestead featuring many hugelkulture garden beds growing staple foods like taro, pumpkin, cassava, sweet potato, and local greens. We have many young fruit trees in the ground and are blessed to have some mature trees currently producing banana, papaya, rollenia, & avocado. In addition to growing food, we are also raising many animals and two children! You will see the girls up early in the morning playing with our three temple cats.
We are committed to living in harmony with the land, and as such we are mostly off-grid and catch our own water. We sort all of our trash meticulously for recycling. Currently plastic is NOT recycled on this island, so our Kuleana (responsibility) is to buy as little plastic as possible. We use only biodegradable and eco-friendly soaps, shampoo, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, etc. It’s a great experience in taking small actions to show our love to the ’āina (the land).

Location: The site says we are in Leilani Estates, but actually we are located south of there, only 3 minutes from the coast, only 5 min to a black sand beach, only 15-20 min to natural geothermally heated hot ponds you can soak in, and approximately 50 min drive to Volcano, Pele's home.
(You will happily receive the actual address once you book! )
Our space is best for nature lovers, with several half open walls, as you will feel the elements and be serenaded by the frogs at night! Our kitchen is very simple. and our bathhouse has a flush toilet, and warm shower. We have electricity and lighting indoors, but there are no streetlights, because our neighborhood values stargazing, which is amazing here!
A few last details:
We will provide bath towels and there is soap in the shower for your use, as well.
Cell service- AT andT and Cricket cell service works best in our area.
The floor is earthen, so we have rugs, and clean it regularly, but it will appear rustic.
We do have a mosquito net over the bed, for folks who would like to use it.
And lastly, we have 2 social outdoor cats, that you aren't likely to see, but just might stop by and say hello!

Located on the 1983 lava flow field. There are uneven surfaces that require careful attention but is safe for the adventurous and fit. No annoying croaking frogs and no mosquitos makes this sea level location with blue water ocean views and trade wind breezes a perfect paradise with very little rain and lots of sunshine. There a 10' x 12' raised deck gazebo with a picnic table and ample surfaces for exercising and stretch yoga. We are a few minutes from the black sand clothing optional beach and clean ocean soaking/swimming and Uncle Robert's Wednesday night music extravaganza. There are refrigerators available and a composting toilet and a hot water shower for conservative water showering as all water must be transported in. The advantage is very little rain and lots of sunshine makes this location a pleasure with fluffy clouds to look at that don't get you wet!!! 2 furnished small houses and a gazebo with ample parking space and solar charging for electronics. Starlink WiFi is available and will provide connectivity and cell phone links !

The most beautiful little cottage I’ve ever seen in my life. I felt like a fairy!! I was a little off-put by the lack of screening, but there were no issues and the open air feel was amazing. The bathroom was just steps away and was very clean and comfortable. The door handles were also so unique and beautiful

The Earth Nest was magical. If you love nature, you should definitely stay here — many of the walls are completely open, which makes you feel like you’re outside while still in the comfort of a covered lodging. It was super easy to find, and the bathroom was steps away from the main cottage. There was a mosquito net over the bed, and the bed itself was unbelievably comfy. The bathroom was well-maintained and clean, and the shower had hot water, which was so nice. There was a full kitchen, which we didn’t end up using as we were just there for a night but would be super nice if you wanted to cook (and having a fridge was great). The area was quiet and beautiful. My one issue was that we felt a little nervous about the walls being completely open without any screens or anything as it didn’t feel completely safe, but we had no actual issues and it seems like a pretty secure site otherwise so it wasn’t too much of a problematic. This place really felt like something out of a fairy tale, I would definitely recommend.

We loved staying here! It had all the bare necessities and such a beautiful space. The perfect getaway stay-cation. The only downsides: the walls aren’t screened it so mosquitos were very present! More candles would help. Also, make sure to bring your own spices and things for cooking. The pots, pans, plates and utensils were all provided but definitely bring oil, spices and any extras you’d want :)

Just had an incredible getaway at Mae's property, and I can't say enough about her attentiveness! It was wonderful to chat with her and hear about her passion for creating a welcoming space. She should truly be proud of the amazing amenities she's provided for her guests! Weekend Trip to Waterfront Paradise
Probably the most unique stay on our trip. Sitting in a van looking up at a clear night sky and the waves come in was bliss. Page was a great communicator throughout and we felt taken care. She met us at the agreed time and gave us a full walkthrough of the fan. She even provided extra charging cords when asked. The van itself is clean and as described. We really enjoyed it and would happily stay again.

We arrived at the end of a light rain shower, and were so happy to find a covered set of table and chairs under her dome that were bone dry! The place is right off 11, which gets you to Hilo or the National Park. A nice hot outdoor shower with a view of the ocean! Can't get much better than that to start your day.

Jeff was a great host and took really good care of us. We were able use the shower and toilet and laundry and we really enjoyed the gardens, plants and fruit trees on the property. Jeff was a really good host and spent some time visiting with us and giving us lots of great recommendations for places to go especially the Isaac Hale park with hot springs.

Mae is the most wonderful host! She is kind, helpful, and very responsive. Her property is beautiful and perfectly situated between the national Park and the amenities of Pahoa and Hilo. Hike all day or hop into town for groceries and the zoo. The kids loved playing volleyball, disk golf, and catching little fish in her pond. 100% would stay with her again!

Weekend Trip to Gilligan's Islands
Dani was such a fun host. His property is in a surreal place - built on a lava field. I slept in his open air room and it was super cozy. He went above and beyond hosting me and accommodating my needs, sharing anecdotes from his lifetime of living in Hawaii, showing me around. We absolutely loved staying at Hale lo! We arrived at night so the property was very dark, enough to have really good stargazing. Looking for the cabin in the dark was an adventure in itself! As we were walking around, the coquis were singing and we could hear the river running next to our cabin once we found it. The beds were comfy. My son especially loved sleeping in the loft bed! The waterfall is stunning and we wished we had time to spend a few days and explore the land a bit more!

Me and my sister decided to camp around the Big Island for a week instead of a hotel. We were very excited to arrive at Mae’s campsite and she was an amazing host. Her place was very easy to find with her instructions and she greeted us upon arrival. She showed us around the place and provided a book of recommendations for local places. She also offered us fruit off of her farm and there were a few fun games there. The campsite is beautiful and she had a very nice dog that was fun to hang out with. Overall 10/10.
