Hut or Tent, your choice. We just added the tent platform and it is your choice as to tent platform or Hut. They are about a football field away from each other. Get away from it all on a secluded mature wooded hill twenty minutes from the Ococee River. You can feel how old the Appalachian mountains are here. Remote enough and private but no 4WD needed (flat terrain to parking) and enough neighbors if needed (road running through property leads to subdivision by Apalachia Lake so has traffic on it.) To the right of the road is a creek and bog, to the left we have several acres of woods to explore and relax in. You will see an occasional car on the private road that runs below the Hut but on the hill, you will have complete privacy. Please note we have not yet added a firepit or compost toilet to the tent platform so you will be needing to go to the Hut for both of those. You can get to the Hut from the Platform along the road or through the woods. It is a beautiful place to chill and hang out that we are happy to share with you. Three of ten acres to the right of the road that runs through our property are a bog that runs along a creek with the creek joining wild remote Apalachia Lake. (Pretty much unpassable Nature saying keep out.) But enjoy hiking and exploring our seven gently sloping mature wood hills. There are also lots of well maintained dirt hillside roads for exploring or biking. Enjoy our Baba Yaga hut with only the bare necessities but you will be flat, dry and able to enjoy the woods all to yourself. Or the Tent Platform pretty much complete privacy. When one is rented, we take the other off the calendar so you get the entire place to yourself. Come explore and then chill away from it all.

The Cove consists of 12 acres with a tributary stream and spring fed ponds less than a half mile from the Toccoa River. It was originally the water source for the surrounding properties prior to the city installing a water system. It is completely private and unspoiled nature, with about a mile of walking trails throughout. The River release schedule is available online at the website TVA.gov. The River has swift current when the dam is opened for release, usually daily. This property is conveniently located in Mineral Bluff, Georgia 30559, just 4 miles off the 4-lane highway (Highway 515/76) and just a short drive to Blue Ridge, Georgia; Blairsville, Georgia; Murphy, North Carolina, McCaysville, Georgia and Copper Hill, Tennessee. It is a paved road drive all the way to the entrance. It is located just a few miles from the center of downtown Blue Ridge with art galleries, many restaurants, brew pubs, shopping, the Blue Ridge Brewing Company, Mercier Orchard, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, and more! The Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad runs most of the year from Blue Ridge to McCaysville, right along the Toccoa River. The campsites are equally close to downtown McCaysville, Ga. /Copper Hill, TN. You are definitely in the mountains now! shelter is hand crafted from all rough sawn locally sourced wood from the site or from Fannin County forests.

Lots of space to move around and the pergola cover offered a lot of shelter from the wind and had all the camping amenities we could need. George even brought up a kerosene space heater for us!

Another great trip to the Cove! For anyone who comes right after us, we set up your first fire logs in the firepit. We brought our own firewood but you’ll find enough logs in the wood crib to do about two fires, plus the giant stumps that are great to prolong the fire if you can get one going. George also has a bale of pine straw in there which is super helpful to get a fire started. My whole review is about fires, can you tell it was cold while we were there haha! Saw several deer and hawks. Lots of stars and quiet.

Weekend Trip to River Ranch @ Summerville, GA

Doni was an incredibly gracious and kind host who went above and beyond to be helpful! The property was perfect for our single night trip, and there seem to be several different sites available depending on what you’re looking for. The spot we selected had a fire ring, had enough room for several tents, and felt secluded even though it was just a 3 minute walk back to our vehicles. There is some road noise at night you can hear, but otherwise we had a wonderful time. We had some success fishing as well along the river, which was quite exciting. The paddle board was fun as well. Would love to come back with a larger group.

We absolutely loved the relaxed and private nature of our stay. The sound of the water and the peaceful surroundings were everything we needed to unwind. We stayed under the RV cover in our campervan and extended tent due to the rain which completely kept us dry! Perfect for rugged camping but with shelter & a shower! Feels secluded, but you still have cell service & civilization nearby in case you need anything. Also lots of historical sites nearby. Caught a few fish in the pond & enjoyed cooking over the fire. Cabin & bathroom were clean and owners were extremely nice! Would love to come back in summer so I can enjoy the flowers!

There are so many things to love about Candy Mountain Goat Farm. The Upper RV pad was lovely, private space complete with water and electric. Scott is a friendly, helpful host who took time to welcome us, help us set up camp and introduce us to the friendly goats, chickens and the 2 very friendly pups who also call this little farm their home. It rained on us most of the visit but we still had a fun time shopping goat soaps and lotions in the farm store, walking the trails on the property, cooking up the fresh eggs Scott gathered for us just this morning, watched a movie on the shared Plex server, caught up on blog posts with the free WiFi, and gazing at the beautiful trees all around us.

Weekend Trip to Candy Mountain Goat Farm

We loved camping on Scott’s goat farm! The camping spot was set up with a campfire spot and picnic table, and there was a working toilet on site for us as well. The goat walk and the cows across the field were the best parts! The goats were really cool, and we got to brush them and learn about goat life. Would definitely camp here again!
