What a gorgeous spot. I was immediately regretful that I only booked one night. Timothy was great - available though the app even when I was trying to locate the spot. I was distracted looking at house numbers and missed the giant hipcamp sign lol. My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed a peaceful night and morning, and next time I’ll be bringing my paddle board and staying a few more days. Highly recommend this beautiful spot on the water.

The neighborhood was quiet, safe, and the roads in and out were easy in our 33’ class A. Tim is an amazing host, and all the neighbors we encountered were super friendly. If you’re going to the swamp to kayak, this is a great location. It is right across from the National Wildlife Refuge entry. I stayed in the most basic cabin, whites just two beds, a mini fridge, microwave, fire pit, and small screened porch. Cabin is the size of a bedroom, basically. Communal shower and bathroom was satisfactory for a camping experience. Don’t expect hotel quality in the bathroom, that’s not what this is about. Charlene, a caretaker, was kind and helpful. I stayed her with my adult son. Perfect for two people. We brought a portable grill to make our own food and also went to Folkston for one dinner. It is quiet and family friendly. The swamp is an amazing natural wonder.

Weekend Trip to Vineyard Lake Getaway

Although the place was wonderful with curious geese and a peaceful pond it made up for the lack of people capable of picking up after their dogs...so luckily we had a large mat and spread it out to keep from stepping in piles of month old dried dog poop. Otherwise hook up was a breeze, the sewer could use some weed whacking for easy spotting but never heard a word from the owners dogs which kept their distance upon arrival, Kenny was responsive and let us enjoy 1 out of 2 days alone on the property while he went and camped himself. I should hopefully return as the view was a change of pace.

I enjoyed how peaceful it was on this property. It was very easy to pull in and out of with good water, sewer and electricity access. The wildlife out there was great with squirrels, turtles and lots and lots of birds. Fairly easy access to good shopping and the historic district of Fernandina.
