We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there. I have to say, this was hands-down the best organized, cleanest, easiest, most amenity-laden cabin I’ve ever rented. So many details, from the embroidered robes to the bound book of instructions and recommendations. From the kitchen appointments to the coffee. There are really too many amazing little things to list here, but you could really tell the owners absolutely care about the experience their property provides. And we went panning for gold in the creek below the back deck and even found a little! It was incredibly comfortable and lots of fun. Just make sure you’re ok with stairs and aren’t too large to fit the spiral to the loft. I honestly cannot think of a single improvement to make. Didn’t even matter that it rained so much, because there was plenty left to do inside.

We loved our stay at the Magical Resorts Groundskeeper Cabin! Mary truly thought of every detail when designing and decorating each space. The beautiful stained glass, cozy bedding, fire torches, and even the dishes made us feel like we were actually in Hagrid’s cabin! Even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan, the cabin is simply beautiful and so thoughtfully done. We have two younger children who absolutely loved it—they spent hours on the swings and the play area by the water and enjoyed feeding and petting the animals. One evening we visited downtown Haynesville and had a great meal at a local restaurant. We probably could have spent more time exploring the town, but we just loved relaxing in nature. Mary was so kind and quick to respond to all of my messages. We will definitely be back!

I can’t say enough good things about my stay! The farm setting was absolutely serene — nestled along a river and within striking distance of the mountains. Every detail was so thoughtfully done, from the well-kept amenities to the little touches that made it feel both comfortable and connected to nature. What really stood out was the hospitality. The hosts were genuinely kind and welcoming, and they went out of their way to help me plan things to do in the area — from scenic spots to local hidden gems; they went out of their way to make my stay extra special. Between the peaceful surroundings, beautiful scenery, and top-notch amenities, this place was the perfect balance of comfort and adventure. I left feeling refreshed, grounded, and already dreaming of coming back. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful escape in nature!

Such a great experience! The cottages were super cute, the property was peaceful, and we loved the animals and the little fairy village—it added so much charm. The hammock area was a really fun and relaxing touch. The host was kind, thoughtful, and very understanding when we had to leave earlier than planned. Everything was clean and cozy, and we truly enjoyed our time there. If I could make a small suggestion, it would be to add a few towel hooks for after showers and maybe clean the AC units or consider fans for better airflow. Other than that, everything was perfect—we’d happily stay again!

I really enjoyed my stay here! The campground is quiet, peaceful, and has a unique charm that makes it feel special. The rental was well stocked. Also, the owner was friendly and welcoming, which added to the great experience. The only thing I’d mention is that the air conditioning unit could use some cleaning or maybe an upgrade, and having a ceiling fan or two would really help with air circulation. Other than that, everything was great — I’d definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to West Preserve

Very nice and quiet spot in the middle of nature. Has a beautiful creek that runs through the middle of everything and sounds so serene. The cabin we stayed at was the bloom and it was a very cozy and quaint, full furnishing including microwave, fridge, A/C / heat, and even running water. The bathhouses were super cool and very rustic with hot water. Would definitely recommend as a stay or stopping through

The cabin is cute and we even had baby dear wake us our first Morning. Our host John went above and beyond building a fire for us and unclogging the toliet. Its beautiful there. We had the best time!

1 night at Magical Mountain Resorts

Impeccable design, cleanliness, and vision. We stayed in the queen of hearts cabin and had an opportunity to tour all cabins. The cabins and experience exceeded my expectations in all levels. The petting zoo animals were so friendly and appeared to be well loved. The entire experience is a 10/10. If you are considering this, just do it!

3 nights at Creekside Cabin at Lake Hartwell

Thoroughly enjoyed my long weekend at the Cabin. The vibes were so calm and restorative. The hot tub was the perfect touch, and there’s enough privacy here to be in one’s own little world. Would highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Magical Mountain Resorts

We loved Shannon’s Enchanted Forest! We highly recommend stay at Magical Mountain Resort, The Enchanted Forest. We booked the Alice’s Queen cottage and the White Bunny cottage, which are side by side. Everywhere you looked inside and outside of the cabins, there were details about the theme of each cottage. The fairy garden, the swings, hammocks, the river, the beautiful fire pit, games, the animals everything was an amazing experience for our kids and us too! Not mentioning the other cabins and the Midnight bus tour we took…

Weekend Trip to Welcome To Blue Fork Farm!

We LOVE staying at Andy & Anna’s rustic little farm. This was our third time staying there. The weather didn’t cooperate very well this time; we didn’t get to have a fire in the fire pit while we were there and there was some really bad weather for a minute but we never lost power in the cabin. We explored the property some when it wasn’t raining and played games we brought along inside the cabin when it was rainy weather. Andy and Anna provide games to play in the cabin if you don’t bring any with you. There are also some big wooden blocks (think giant Jenga sized blocks) that my daughter loves to play with when we are there. Every time it’s time to leave we want to stay longer! The small kitchen area has a microwave and a dorm fridge so it is a little challenging to make meals for 5 people (our group size) if the weather is too yucky to grill out. Luckily for us on this trip the weather cooperated long enough to make a couple of meals; the other meals we ate at a couple of restaurants. I think Andy & Anna’s rustic farm is a great blend of camping and GLAMPING (indoor plumbing for the WIN!) The hosts are super welcoming, friendly and helpful!
