The best star host camping near Winter Park

·

Not far from Orlando, Winter Park may not house any theme parks—but it has plenty of actual parks, with green spaces galore. Here, nature’s very own kingdom takes the form of sunny skies and the six, canal-connected lakes that wind through the city. Drive east, and you’ll reach the Atlantic Ocean in no time, or hit Orange County’s equally worthwhile state forests and parks. Beyond Winter Park’s natural beauty, the city is all about art, meaning camping in Winter Park provides access to both cultural and natural attractions, so you never have to choose between the two.

Our easy to access property has a treelined drive that welcomes you to our camping space. With just three lots you'll be able to enjoy your time here in a partially shaded space. We offer both 30 and 50 amp electric, along with water and septic hookups. Maximum length 35', please call if longer. We're centrally located to many attractions like Disney World, Universal Studios, Legoland, and many other unique options. First time RVer? We're on site and will be happy to help you get parked, set up, and show you how to use the hookups. By the time you leave, you'll be a pro! Once you're settled you can sit outside and soak up the sun or enjoy a quiet meal at your own picnic table while watching the birds (you may be lucky enough to spot the Painted Buntings!). There's also a grassy area to let your trained and friendly dog(s) stretch their legs and get some play time in. When you're ready to venture out, you'll find great local "hole-in-the-wall" eateries along with your chain restaurant favorites. We're close to adventures of all types like Bok Tower Gardens, Legoland, several state parks, canoeing/kayaking, great fishing, paddle boarding, skydiving, Sunshine Flea Market, and the Spook Hill Mystery Spot. You can also opt to catch a movie at the local theater or take a tour of the Florida's Natural orange juice factory. If you're up for a 45-60 min drive you can also visit several of the attractions often featured in "weird Florida" guides including Solomon's Castle, Gatorland, and Monument of the States. And let's not forget, the more well-known attractions, Disney World and Universal Studios are also conveniently located about 45-60 minutes away. When you're ready to stock up on supplies, we're near gas stations and grocery stores (don't leave without trying the famous Publix subs). There are also coin operated laundry options near by. If you need it, there is a reputable RV tire and service company about 10 minutes away. Join us for a night, a few days, or even a week. While you're here we'll be happy to give you recommendations for our favorite spots or leave you to explore on your own – either way we look forward to hosting you! (Contactless check-in available)

The Roots ReTREEt is situated on 4.5 acres tucked away in Old Florida of Volusia County. The name comes from the roots that stretch throughout the property with the TREEs providing a sanctuary for all who come to rest. Our little piece of paradise has so much serenity with a fully wooded landscape while its only miles from fun things to do: surfing, biking, hiking, boating, fishing, paddling, swimming and more! If you're lucky enough to experience the wildlife that shows up regularly, you could have the pleasure of seeing wild animals like: turkeys, deer, pigs, armadillos, hawks, dragonflies, butterflies, turtles and many others. We're proud of our oasis and thrilled to share it with folks that appreciate protected land as much as we do. The land is part of the resource corridor, which is protected wetlands and it is environmentally sensitive and ecologically significant. This means that it is an ecosystem that supports the wildlife and cannot be touched or manipulated in any way. Lucy's place is our community space for you and your family's use. It has lots of seating, plenty of places to relax, a grill and outdoor sink for cooking, and a gas fireplace to enjoy the scenery at night. A hot tub awaits you, which is open to the stars and great after a day of lounging or fun out and about. We are close to everything but far enough for you to relax after a fun day of exploring. Daytona Speedway is a 30 min. drive. You can be on the beach in 20 min. or putting your boat/jet skis in the river in 15 min. We'd be honored to share what we consider to be heaven on earth with you. :-)

The best star host camping near Winter Park guide

Where to go

Charles H. Bronson State Forest

Drive east of Winter Park, toward the Atlantic Ocean. Before you hit the shores, you’ll reach Charles H. Bronson State Forest. You can hike, fish, and ride horses all throughout the park, where trails range in both difficulty and ecosystem. When you’re ready to turn in for the night, head to your backcountry campsite—but not before exploring St. Johns River.

Around The Lakes

Calling all naturalists. In the opposite direction, the wetlands around Lake Apopka harbor local wildlife, flowers, and plants. To see even more of the natural landscape, stop at Lake Apopka North Shore and explore the marshes and their bountiful habitats. If that’s still not enough of a freshwater fix, check-in to a campsite further north to experience the neighboring lakes.

Rock Springs Run State Reserve

Open year-round, Rock Springs Run State Reserve lets you choose your own adventure. Everyone from mountain bikers to bird watchers can find the perfect campsite, not far from Winter Park. You can canoe over the Wekiva River to reach your backcountry campsite. Or, you can horse around—and camp with a horse near Wekiwa Springs State Park. If you’d rather camp at a traditional campground, you can alternatively book classic campsites with water and electric hookups, grills, and picnic tables.

When to go

Don’t let the name fool you; Winter Park is all about warm-weather activities, which happen year round. Plan your camping trip around your preferences. Summer in Central Florida can feel unbearably hot, so if you want long hikes on difficult trails, come when the sun is at its most bearable. Winter in Winter Park may bring crowds—plan accordingly so that your only surprise is nature’s beauty.
