Welcome to Bohemian Freedom Park! We’re excited to welcome you to our property, which is just under 8 acres. Our space is totally private, fenced in, and features a clean swimming hole with a beach! About the property Our property is near Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park and Lake Okeechobee. If you’re looking for places to visit for the day or services nearby, you can head to Okeechobee, which is only 20 min away. Lake Placid is only 40 min, Vero Beach is only 1 hr, and Melbourne is 1 hr 30 min. All of the listed locations offer great opportunities for fishing, hunting, swimming, and beach hangouts. Each of the sites allows for watching the mini livestock, sitting around a communal campfire, hanging out at the watering hole, and having coffee or cocktails on the Mary Celeste! Our favorite things about our property are privacy, amenities, and all of the roaming mini livestock throughout the property! Your hosts do not live onsite however, will be available to you during your visit. We are friendly and as non-invasive as we can be. We do love meeting our guests and are available for any questions that come up. Our primary purpose when developing this property was to create a safe space for children with special needs and their families. We are a no judgment zone and adhere to Hipcamp's inclusion policy. About the listing This listing is for a day trip, or a back-to-your-roots, overnight tent camping trip. Guests will choose their location after a tour of the property. We have various locations with AC for the hot summer days and bug-free dining throughout the property. We allow a maximum of 2 tents and 7 people per overnight stay.

River Ranch has a direct outlet to the Kissimmee River which is known for some of the best bass fishing in Florida and where many tournaments are held. The camp spot will be near the pigs and goats, so expect some noise in the morning and during feeding time otherwise it's pretty quiet. At night time you could do a fire pit, we'll provide the metal fire pit. About 25 minutes east of our property we have downtown Fort Pierce with nice restaurants and the causeway where you can take a dip in the ocean and there's beaches up the road from there.

There are plenty of parks and fishing spots nearby as well as the beach so there is always something to do within a 10-45 minute drive. Your hosts live onsite and we will plan to greet campers and give a brief tour, as this is a growing food forest there may be areas that are sensitive to foot traffic. Our favorite things about this property are the amazing skies both at dawn and dusk, as well as night stargazing. We have great birdwatching as well. Please reach out at any time with questions or concerns. About the listing Our listing is for a campsite that accommodates tents or an RV or camper van up to 45ft. If you do bring a camper keep in mind our sites are pull in only with no hookups (dry camping) and they will require some leveling. Generators are also not allowed. Pets must be kept under control so they do not destroy garden and food forest areas. Pets will have to be leashed at the first sign of destructive behavior, no exceptions. We’re just 5 miles from downtown Stuart on the Inland waterway that offers a lovely walkable downtown where you will find a theater, unique art studios, interesting and unique craft and clothing shops, and numerous restaurants offering everything from vegan and vegetarian options, to pizza, steak, and local seafood. If you’re looking for fast food franchises in the downtown areas, you’ll need to look elsewhere! Only 11 miles from Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Daily excursions are available from the launch site to the infamousTrapper Nelson’s hideaway. A must do for adventurous types who appreciate legends and creative off grid living. ABOUT US: This Camp Site is on a 1/2 acre, owner occupied property and located in a beautiful, open, quiet neighborhood setting. It offers a natural walking path with several foot bridges around the lake. Our property has very easy accessibility to all major roads including interstate 95. Our camp sites provide you a peaceful stay while still being close to all you seek. This location makes for a great stop over or destination spot. Guests will wake in the morning to the lovely site and peaceful sounds of the mostly year round residents including pileated &red-bellied woodpeckers, black vultures, raccoons, egrets, ibis, hawks, quaker parrots, herons, bluejays, grackles, crows, lizards, mourning doves, gray squirrels, owls, hawks, and occasional sightings of iguanas and turtles. Nights tend to be dark and quiet by the lake with minimal traffic noise. We are pet friendly provided your pet is too! John D. MacArthur Beach State Park

A short drive south from Vero Beach, John D. MacArthur Beach is one of the most popular waterfronts in the area. Best known as the nesting ground for hundreds of leatherback and green sea turtles each summer, this beach is also a destination for hiking and cycling on the nearby nature trails and viewing subtropical flora and fauna. Facing the mainland, the waters are calm and ideal for kayaking, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and even scuba diving. The park houses a few campsites, many offering views of Lake Worth Lagoon.

J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area

Spanning 60,000 acres of cypress swamps, pine flatwoods, and tropical hardwood hammocks, J.W. Corbett WMA is a subtropical treasure trove for hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping. This region is teeming with wildlife, including white-tailed deer, turkeys, and feral hogs (which attract hunters), as well as bobcats, racoons, otters, and a few rare and endangered species of birds. The park sits near Lake Okeechobee, where Hipcampers can find lakeside glamping accommodations.

Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

To the west of Vero Beach is Kissimmee Prairie, a state park covering 54,000 acres of expansive prairies and dry grasslands. An essential part of the Everglades headwaters, this striking biome formed from a long-running cycle of flooding and wildfires. Today, it’s a unique ecosystem of dry prairies perfect for birdwatching, hiking, and cycling. Kissimmee Prairie is also known for its spectacular stargazing far from city light pollution. Check into a farmland campground or stay the night at a nearby RV park, then enjoy an unbelievable view of the Milky Way with no need for binoculars or a telescope.

When to go

As a subtropical region, Vero Beach’s temperatures are agreeable year-round. Hot, humid summer days reach into the 90s, and winter days dip only as low as 50°F in the coldest months. Summer is the rainiest time of year in Vero Beach, so campers should bring adequate rain protection when camping in the area between May and September.
