3 nights at Roots ReTREEt in Old Florida

Great communication with the host, Jay, who was off property at the time. He made sure that we had what we needed and answered any questions that I had. Hospitable. Also an AWESOME caretaker of the property, Liz. She showed us around and told us about the animals in the area. Jay and Liz made this trip so amazing. The site felt completely private. My son and I spent almost all of our time down at the outside yard area where there was cooking and device using and relaxing and napping for four days. I loved the hot tub. My son and I got to watch our first space coast launch from the backyard. (Thanks Liz! I wouldn't have known it without you!) My kiddo loved that! The outside cooking area was awesome and great accessibility being able to use my cooking stove and utensils and I have a two slice toaster and a single burner with pans. I was able to feed my son what I would normally feed him. And while there is no shower hookup the water hose was more than adequate for just about everything we needed and there is water in the sink down at the outdoor cooking area. And it tastes clean. It was quiet outside of random cars on the back road. Nights were very quiet. I wish I had taken pictures of the area but I totally forgot while enjoying the hot tub on site 24/7. The cabana is very comfortable for a nap by the way. There are so many chairs, lounging was easy. Loved the tornado fans that kept the outside cool and mosquitos out. It was perfect. We're coming for my birthday in a month!

This is a lovely spot with a bathroom and shower. More importantly, there are goats. And Jacksonvile the Dog. Be sure to check out little Tiger Lily and her white ears!

I loved staying at this beautiful property in a quiet corner of old Florida. The surroundings were lovely, and Jay had everything we needed - a level camp spot, water and electricity, and a hot tub! I loved watching all the fireflies at night. Don't miss out on driving through nearby Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and seeing all the birds.

Love this campsite! If you are not confident you can go camping in a tent but want to try, this is the spot for you! Includes electric and bathrooms and firewood and chairs. The place is private and cozy and clean.

Weekend Trip to True Trail Farm

We were looking for a fun place to take our grandkids for their first camping experience and The Goat Farm did not disappoint! Mike and Kathryn were gracious and fun hosts. The kids loved getting to feed and play with all the animals, especially baby Tiger Lily, and hunting for bowling balls!. We might make it an annual trip so we can see the animals grow up and grow in numbers.

This place was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Our hosts we super kind and generous. Not only did they have great communication, but they went out of their way to help us. We will definitely be back to the Promise Land.

The campground has 4-5 camping spots. This allows each camper a sense of privacy and separation from the other sites. It is very peaceful and being able to interact with the animals is very special. The bathroom and shower were a welcome addition. Kathryn is a great host who is friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed sitting by the campfire and by the goat pen talking together. She and Mike were very willing to help when I needed an extra pair of hands. They also told me about special events, like the annual Dog Parade and the weekly flea market.

Shiloh was the name of an early Florida town that was once located just down the road from our property. It was populated by hardy, adventurous folks who made a way for themselves and their families by clearing a spot along the lagoon, building a home and forging a life in a new location. But Shiloh is now lost, literally removed from the maps. It no longer exists. When NASA needed a perimeter zone for the newly emerging space program in the 1950s, the federal government purchased large swaths of land between Oak Hill and Titusville, FL. Residents were bought out and forced to move. Houses were relocated or demolished. Shiloh disappeared into history while the space-age pushed forward into the future. However... some foundations still can be found in the woods not far away, if you know where to look. There are even cemeteries that remain, whispering the names of individuals and families. As a tribute to those early adventurers, we have named our place Camp Shiloh. We honor the past, we respect the wild Florida that surrounds us, and we celebrate the future as we watch rocket launches from our porch. You are welcome to stay on the property while you explore the local communities of New Smyrna and Titusville, relax at beautiful Canaveral National Seashore, attend races in Daytona, visit amusement parks in Orlando... or whatever! It’s up to you. We are a peaceful, safe location from which you can stage your Florida adventure. Come on by. We look forward to hosting you! We've worked hard to make it a cozy retreat - like setting where people can spend a few nights in an affordable manner just 5 minutes from the beaches and fun New Smyrna Beach attractions. Biking, boating, sunning, fishing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, eating... all within a few minutes of your quiet retreat. Our house is on the property but it's 200 feet away behind trees/bushes. It's a 100 year old house built from the wood of a church in NSB. Lifted up on a Coquina rock wall it is quite unique. There is a large secluded area where your dogs can be run. We have dogs too but there's plenty of room to share.

Property is situated on a thoroughfare between Ocala and Ormond Beach with audible traffic during the day, so not ideal for individuals seeking absolute silence.

There may or may not be chickens running the property. There are fallen trees and overgrown areas. There are some internal fences with gates we are working to remove or restructure. There is parking for off grid rvs. No amenities are offered currently. We behaved leashed dogs are allowed.
