The Upper Shire Private Campsites in the Hudson Valley are on a gorgeous hill with a small pond surrounded by 22 acres of an old horse ranch. It is located in Columbia County near the Massachusetts and New York border. There are currently 5 unique camping areas located here. Each one is special due to its location on the hill. Check out our map and enjoy our spacious yet secluded campsites and our new off-grid double shower shack with hot and cold water on demand. This place has a relaxed atmosphere and is located near Catamount Ski Resort, Bash Bish Falls, Taconic State Park, Hudson NY, and Great Barrington, MA.

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven.
There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided)
Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars.
During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay.
We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam.
Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away!
Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat!
Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more.
It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

Originally a classic New England farm, this property feels secluded and private but is centrally located in Suffield, CT. Our house was built in 1830 and was the original farm manager’s residence. My partner and I are working on restoring it.
In a former life, I owned a hostel with shared bunk and private cabin accomodation in the North Cascades of Washington State. I love hosting guests of all kinds and from all places!
We are located just minutes from Agawam MA, The Big E, Six Flags New England, Springfield MA, MGM Casino, Enfield, CT, Suffield Academy, and Bradley International Airport. We are about 35 minutes to Hartford, CT.
We have a huge backyard with two spots for RVs or camper vans that have self contained toilet facilities :
-Biscuit's Back Bay: Lower backyard- requires driving down a hill to flat pad to park and then up the hill to depart
-Mapleton Ridge: Upper section of backyard before the hill
We are working on building an outhouse to accommodate tent and car campers. In the meantime you are welcome to #1 in the woods, but #2 will have to wait until you are at a local restaurant or other venue!

This tucked away property is just minutes from route 6, quiet, and just the right amount of wild. We loved it so much that we stayed an extra night to soak it all in.
There is plenty of firewood, room to adventure, and the views are amazing!

We loved camping at Ronald’s place. Very quiet and secluded. We only stayed overnight, but had the choice of his space which was fun to navigate in our SUV (if you have air suspension would recommend to jack it up for better ground clearance!). Thanks for having us!

A Tranquil Escape with Exceptional Hospitality.
If you're looking for peace and quiet, this campsite is a hidden gem. Virtually no traffic noise and no distractions. It is a calm oasis.
Audrey, the host, was incredibly responsive and kind. From the moment we booked, she was quick to answer questions and made sure everything was perfect for our arrival. Her attentiveness added a personal touch that made the stay even more enjoyable.
Highly recommend for anyone seeking serenity and a host who genuinely cares. Can't wait to return!

This is a great spot! It's close to a lot of attractions but gives a remote farmy feel. It's nice and quiet- feels very private. Lots of birds, squirrels and bunnies. Sunset from Audrey's place is really incredible. Audrey was super friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend camping here. I'll be back!

This was my second time staying at Ronny’s site because I liked it so much the first time. He is an incredibly hospitable host — he even came by to help me get a fire started, which I appreciated so much as a solo traveler. The campsite is peaceful, private, and a perfect place to relax and feel safe. It was another restful and positive experience, and I would happily stay again.

My 7 year old Son and I recently camped at pegasus farms and we had such an amazing time. Ronald was a great host who answered all of our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. We made a fire, cooked dinner & had smores. You can take a light walk through the campsite to his animals where you can meet horses & cows during feeding time. I left relaxed, feeling peaceful and recharged my batteries. The only bad part was that we wish we stayed longer! Thank you again Ronald and we are looking forward to staying with you again soon.

My family and I (5 adults) enjoyed staying at Joanna's camping site - it was quiet, beautiful, and clean, with a really lovely outdoor shower and some extra touches like string lights and a couple hammocks at our site. Joanna was quick to respond to messages and flexible with some slight, unexpected changes on our end. It was also close to some lovely places to check out like Copake Falls swim area, a little cidery down the road, and not too far from other towns like Stockbridge for other activities.

We had perfect weather for this weekend of tent camping in Joanna’s meadow. Close to Taconic State Park, Great Barrington, and the Harlem Valley Rail Trail - lots to do around the area. Campsite felt quiet and private even though there were a few other locations on the property.
Couple considerations: you are fairly close to route 22 and the noise from the road carries, but didn’t notice it at all overnight. Our dog picked up quite a few ticks brushing up against the long grass and brush around the meadow - so make sure you do your tick checks after staying!

We wanted to hang a hammock tent and Ronald was so accommodating. CT state parks don’t allow hammocks straps so it’s nice to find this place. Great property! Would definitely go again.
