Our cabin is located on a scenic byway within the San Isabel National Forest at an altitude of 8600 ft. It is next to Lake Isabel where kayaking and fishing are popular in the Summer and Ice fishing snowshoeing and tubing in the Winter. You can explore nearby Bishop's Castle as well as enjoy hiking, bicycling or riding on one of the many trails. Wildlife viewing in the area is also plentiful. You’ll love our cabin because it provides the privacy and solitude of nature with the comforts of home.Learn more about this land:Modern cabin across from lake Isabel. This is a fairly new mountain home within the National Forest. There are three levels that can accommodate 4 guests comfortably in its 2 bedrooms, 1 and 1/2 baths and living area. There is also a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and all the needed utensils. We have DirecTV,  wifi and a landline phone available.

Of course we had to sip some wine out on the little balcony.

Sunrise at Lake Isabel just nearby is a must-see.

Upstairs/loft bedroom with connecting 1/2 bath and space for provided air mattresses out of frame.

This drive in camp site is perfect for the self sufficient camper!

Sand Dunes Base Camp

Easy to get to and close to the sand dunes. If you have a large group we recommend booking both sites.

Beautiful view. Campers took this in later winter. By April it all turns green and it’s breath taking.

Purgatory Riverbottoms

If camsites are full, contact me. There is tons of space. Upon arrival, come straight down Cottonwood Avenue past the private signs where the asphalt ends and straight to the Teepee. We are on a Peninsula with the river on one side and an irrigation creek down the other. We own 1/4 stretch along the river across from the riverwalk and downtown. The "Trinidad" lights shine down from atop Simpsons Rest which is a public area. It has an incredible view of Trinidad ans hidden caves and areas to explore as well. The area we own is Picketwire Valley. It was renamed Picketwire because the French couldn't pronounce Purgatory. The French retreated to Simpsons Rest are were surrounded by Indians and were starved etc. The large caves they hid in, have since covered over.

I do offer firewood and other extras. Ducks and Chickens onsite for kiddos, also have kiddos. Live the offgrid life for short time.  Safe travels !

All areas are MANY yards from each other.  Terrain is scrapped for tents but be aware cactus is everywhere. Please check weather for area because the wind can get fierce. 

Great night views of the stars and 360 view of mountains as well as being at the base of one. Sand dunes and waterfall just 15 minutes away .

We do NOT charge to camp, charges are for a GATE FEE. You are paying the gate fee THRU HIPCAMP NOW... NO PAYMENT on arrival. Best if GPS is used, but address given after booking.

Tremendous views of the Spanish Peaks, LaVeta Pass and surrounding mountains. Located in between LaVeta and Walsenburg there are plenty of activities available. Pets welcome but MUST be on a leash or tie out. This site is outside my 1 acre fenced and secured gated area. 

1 vehicle/RV/ tent requiring 110 electricity, 20 AMP SERVICE, camper must provide their own 50'-75' 20 AMP service extension cord, 2 adults at the $35 price. Additional vehicles, guests, or tents will incur additional fees.

There are no cities nearby, so star gazing is wonderful. You can see the Milky Way on clear nights. Temps are warm during the summers and tend to drop 30+ degrees at night.
